The new renderings are great. How are you doing the light colored oultines? Which version of lightwave are you using? I have 6.5 can get that effect also? I'm a total novice on it thopugh. I've use it for architectural walkthough and flyby animations only.

Hi Zook!
Thanks for your comment!
I'm using LW8.5 which i finally bought
The lines are easy, Object tab->edges
Im pretty sure 6.5 has them too.
I just broke the cycle into 2 layers, and all stuff which should
have lines around them is in the 2nd layer where i added the edges then.
Did a new try on the windows.
The blue cycle has gradients on the windows, which are directly from a screengrab.
The yellow one has a mixture of gradients based on hight
(sidewindows) or incidence based on camera (topwindow)

Hi there on the grid!
Did 2 new renders using the new windowshading
with gradients directly from the movie.
I think i can live with them now
Now back to the tank...........
after playing a bit Tron 2.0 to get some screengrabs of the supercycle
have a nice weekend,

You don't mind if I use one of your renders as my desktop wallpaper, do you? I won't use it unless you say so. They are frankly just amazing!

You just need a little more practice on the light cycle game grid.
We all suck at first, but after a while skills set in and the game becomes a lot more fun! where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Cueball - those are outstanding and very authentic looking light cycles!
I'd really like to see an animation if you've got time to make one.
Keep up the good work!

Wow, neat renders! This is some amazing stuff you keep making!
I was bored yesterday, so I put your render04 fullscreen on my monitor, placed my digital camera in front of it, and did a 1.5 second long exposure shot. The result was an interesting little image with all the brighter colours (mainly white) emitting an eerie glow. So then I decided to render my own lightcycle animation using my own models, set the camera up and did 2 second long exposure shots for all frames. I was surprised when I put the images together into an animation - it actually looks quite like the movie graphics (as they had to capture images from a monitor onto a camera also).

Nice Radiosity. POV-Ray can do radiosity but I have yet to get results any where near as nice as these. Care to spell out how you made these images and I'll see if I can translate that into POV-Ray code? I really like the effect of the numbers in the second image.

I love those radiosity randerings. Especially the b/w renederings are visually highly attractive! Great work!

Hi!
The "clay"-render was done with background-radiosity
using a white background and set all surfaces to white too.
Im use it a few times to check my meshes,
because they reveal every single error
The other render i just set all surfaces of the cycles to
100% luminosity.
The letters have a different surface on the sides,
which i made pure white and cranked up the luminosity
to 2000%.
Render settings was set to monte-carlo radiosity,
3 bounces, 10*30 rays.
"Gamegrid at night" which is seen below was done just by setting the grid to 200% luminous.
Monte-carlo radiosity, 3 bounces, 10*30 rays, 500%.
Do you have a fast cpu?
If anyone needs any of these renders a bit bigger to use
it as a wallpaper, just let me know.
Still looking for supercycle-pictures, so if anyone got some...

I have GOT to figure out how to do this in POV-Ray. I love this one.
I think I understand the 200% luminous...
Not too sure about Monte-carlo radiosity... is there more then one kind of radiosity?
3 bounces, 10*30-Ray...
Hmmm... Is that 10 rays per pixel and you let each ray bounce up to 3 times and that gives you 30 rays? If so that's not really a radiosity setting but a more general rendering setting.
What does the last 500% mean? And have you taken a peek at POV-Ray and by chance do you understand how it does radiosity? If so maybe you could give me a tip or two...

Hi Carl!
Thanks, i like the "nightshot" too, i think i let a higher rez picture
render during nighttime, when i have a few microcycles left
If you can set the luminousity of each surface from 0 to 100%,
its possible in lightwave to set it higher too..... like 200%
Radiosity:
Yes, there a a few kinds.... backdrop-radiosity uses only 1 bounce and its faster. It doesnt care for luminous surfaces.
Monte-Carlo is full radiosity...and its much slower
10*30 Rays is the quality of the radiosity.
Its something like how many rays are evaluated of each pixel,
dunno exactly.
The bounces are just how far the radiosity is calculated...
Light hitting floorand got reflected = one bounce, hits cycle and got reflected = 2 bounces..... and so on.
The bounces really add to the rendertime, but makes things look much better.

I think I follow and I believe I can get better then 100% luminousity in POV-Ray. I can probably even get negative luminousity not that I'm sure what you'd use it for aside from making things darker. In your "nightshot" may I ask about your non-white surfaces. For example does the body of your light-cycle have a luminousity of zero?
