Lurkinghorror:

Well, let's hope I've got the story to the GBA version right. I haven't had much opportunity to play it.

In the GBA version, Tron is brought back from some form of archival. Basically he's been in "suspended animation" for a long, long time. He was revived because the Encom systems are being threatened again.

You play as Tron this time (not Jet), and have Bit as your companion. A user is hacking the Encom systems and trying to take over. Since Tron has been out of action for so long, he doesn't know exactly what's going on. Also, hardly any other program remembers or recognizes him.

As he makes his way through the system, ICPs keep attacking him. The User is taking over, and turning the ICPs against him. He fights his way through, to try and restore order.

Well, that's as much as I want to give away without spoiling more. (Though to be honest, I don't know much more than that.) During the game, you move around in an isometric pseudo-3D view, exploring or attacking enemies. Eventually you get to drive Tanks and fly Recognizers in 3D, and try to solve Hacking puzzles.

The plot is the same for the PC and Xbox versions, but different for the GBA version.

This begs the obvious question but I see it's already been asked and answered.

I loved the Sierra adventure games, too! I really miss them. You can get some free remakes from http://www.agdinteractive.com/.

Interesting... I'll have to check that out.

BTW, Carl . . . do you think I would get flamed to high heaven, if I posted about Tron 2.0 in the off-topic section of MacrossWorld?

No... I don't think so. I've posted my TRON art there before. I don't know how much responce you'd get but there are a few TRON fans there. Shawn himself is a big fan of the movie. I don't know if he has the game or not though.

Considering this is your first post EVER here on TS, perhaps you'd like to read back through some of the threads to consider how passionate I am about TRON. Redrain85 knows what I've done, but seems to choose to ignore it and act like he's the only living person who wasnts to see TRON live on. Horse hockey! perhaps before you pass your judgement on me you take a look at the history here on TS for some facts. My 'lack of generosity' is something you should come to see as an abundance of generosity over the past three years.

My apologies. I was half aware of things here. So please accept. I'm glad you pointed this out to me.

DaveTRON Wrote:
Huh? Great, you bought and played the game for 3,000 hours. That's excellent. Did you convince anyone else to buy it?

Yes. I have interested anyone I talk to. I bought the games for my family, at the moment I have 2, and and a few exras if I run servers. I know a limited number of people who have the capabilities to play, and when I talk about it, everyone is interested in Tron.

DaveTRON Wrote:
I was there.

I know all to well what you mean.

DaveTRON Wrote:
You don't know me, so I suggest that before you decide what I am all about with your very first post on TS, I suggest you get clear on whom you are talking to. I have done more than most people on this site to make TRON 2.0 work.

Yeah, That makes alot of sense, I see how much was done. I didn't really know you were there. But I would like to congradulate you and the team who compiled the game. You understand that... heh. BBQ?

Sounds like him and Mike will be close. hah. I was told enough about certain entities, employing people like this. The stories... you would probably know since you brought up a topic like religion all of the sudden. I think I know what development and disney have in common.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea the game had a different story. How confusing this is for the flow of the Tron universe. At least in how it affects the work I'm doing. Gah!

wwwmwww Wrote:So where is the best place to buy this game where it's likely to have the most positive effects. I'm guessing a used copy off eBay doesn't help the cause any.
I have a suggestion there.

The two easiest (but not necessarily cheapest) places to buy Tron 2.0 would be Amazon.com, and the DisneyDirect Store. I don't think EB Games or Gamestop sell the PC version any more.

Amazon.com LinkDisneyDirect Link
I noticed those nitwits at BVG have the "Buy Now" link for the PC version, linked to the Xbox version. You have to do a search to find it yourself.

I think buying from either of those stores would help BVG see that the game is still selling.

And another suggestion: the "Buy Tron 2.0" link on the front page of Tron-Sector doesn't work any more. Maybe it could be updated to one of those two links?

I took another step to put pressure on BVG. Take a look at this.

Reddrain the last time when I was out looking for Tron 2.0 over here in Quebec. EB games didn't have it at all nore the companion book either. The only place that I was ablw to find it still was at Futureshop over here. For $29.99. I don't know if they still would have it.Production and stock may be at 0. Through them or through their distributors.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

If you look at the listing for the game on Amazon.com, it says they are low on stock but there are "more on the way".

Also, the DisneyDirect store lists it in stock.

So BVG still has copies, and continues to sell this game.

Ok... I just bought one of the last 5 copies at amazon.com and I also bought one of their last 4 copies of the strategy guide. Just checked... their info now shows these down to 4 and 3 respectively.

I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to play it but atleast now I feel I've done my part.

Thanks,

Thanks guys.

And thank you to everyone else who signed the petition, too.

I also thought I'd mention that I added a line to the essay pointing out that the opinions I express are my own. I don't claim to speak for anyone else.

Well, some ass reported the news item on digg.com as "bad". Because of that, it will never make the front page.

So don't bother digging the story any more.

I'll try to find other ways to spread the word about this petition.
