VERY cool new animated video from Supa Pirate Booty Hunt supporting Cindy Morgan. If you've got a minute it's definitely worth checking out and sending to your friends, posting on your FB pages:

A BIG THANKS to the unknown supporter who asked about Cindy Morgan at the latest TRON Legacy event in LA!:

What about Lora/Yori, played by Cindy Morgan in the original movie? "Her character is not in Tron Legacy, but that doesn't mean she's not in the world of Tron."http://scifiwire.com/2010/02/director-unveils-tron-leg.php
Yori is STILL out there on the grid...
http://www.facebook.com/yoriliveshttp://www.myspace.com/yoriliveshttp://www.twitter.com/yorlives
Lora could STILL be very much alive and well too in TRON Legacy:

Q: Will the "Tron 2.0" video game be considered cannon for the new movie?
Kosinski: No.

Interview with Cindy for Crave Online:
http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/film/article/cindy-morgan-talks-tron-and-caddyshack-97241
Crave Online: How have you felt to see Tron fever kick up, even though not in new one.

Cindy Morgan: I think it’s charming. I think it’s interesting. I’ve got to tell you, the fans come to me with, and it’s like a family picnic for me. Everybody comes up and says, as if they’d just seen me a few years before, “Hey look, we want to let you know.” When I went down to Comic-Con last summer, they come up and go, “Hey look, you’ve got to know this. There’s an underground Flynn’s Arcade going on. You’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.” I’m like I don't know. It’s like the prom. I wasn’t invited. Should I go, without a date? They said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, you should go.’ I did go, did you see the pictures?

Crave Online: Yeah, in the Flynn Lives T-shirt.

Cindy Morgan: I picked that T-shirt up at the arcade, last summer at Comic Con. My friend Andy took the picture and I said, “Oh, I don't know.” I thought the picture was pretty cute. I thought it was really funny and for some reason, so many folks love that photo.

Sadly the interpretation I take away from this is that there will be some type of memorial to her character post de-rezz in the computer world.

Yeah, I found that comment quite confusing. Or very confusing. The only thing I can think of is the Yori program being derezed, and/or maybe Alan mentions Lora when talking to one of the other characters.

That's not why I take from it. Just a few months ago when asked the same question they were saying, "There was no time for her character." So progress is being made!

Reports of Yori's de-rez have been greatly exaggerated and the campaign to get Cindy Morgan in TRON Legacy continues.

From the recent SyFy Wire article:
http://scifiwire.com/2010/02/trons-cindy-morgan-talks.php
As Cindy has said in many articles, "This is science fiction, as you know, so anything is possible."

Tron Legacy has wrapped principal photography and is in post-production. Some of the fan campaigns suggest digitally inserting 1982 footage of Morgan to put her in the new film. Bridges appears in his 1982 form as the original Kevin Flynn, thanks to modern visual effects.

"I think anything's possible," Morgan said. "I really believe that. As far as I know, my phone still works. We'll see. We'll just see how it turns out. There's so much buzz about it, I'm getting all my information from the people who are really making the decisions now, and that's the fans. They make the choices. Isn't that cool? Isn't that the way it should be?"

And a few other interesting lines from the article:
Nobody from Tron Legacy contacted Morgan, and she did not directly speak with anyone from the Joe Kosinski-directed sequel.

That's not for lack of trying. Morgan gave her contact information to the Disney team, who set up the Flynn's Arcade promotion at San Diego Comic-Con last year. When Disney built a mock-up of the arcade from Tron in San Diego's Gaslamp District, they did not even invite Morgan or offer her a pass to avoid the lines.

"The people I was with said, 'We'll just go in,'" Morgan said. "I said, 'Uh-uh. We're going to just quietly, unobtrusively stand in line, very quietly, walk in, say hello, take some pictures, and on the way out, I handed them my business card and said, 'Thank you very much.' I let them know who I was, and just scooted out. I had the best time. It was fun."

...Morgan hopes Tron Legacy will please the passionate fans, whether she finds a way to appear in it or not. "Everything about that film needs to be true," she said. "Tron Legacy needs to be true to the original vision of Tron, and I think that's where a lot of the disappointment comes. If they're actually going to call it Legacy, the fans are sort of hoping that it does have a legacy.

Here's yet another article from yesterday in support of Cindy in TRON Legacy:
http://www.filmedge.net/Tron/news.htm#0302yori
...As Kosinski asked the audience at LA’s trailer sneak viewing, “Are there any girls in here?” Fans might ask the same of TRON LEGACY, with Olivia Wilde's Quorra being the only prominent female role announced so far. The viral marketing dance between filmmakers and fans kicks up a step or two, and only time will tell the outcome of this Lora/Yori question. FilmEdge would certainly like to see Cindy Morgan get her due appearance in the film franchise she helped launch, if at all possible. Disney’s gone a long way to please TRON fans with the release of this high-profile sequel, and an appearance by Morgan would demonstrate continued willingness to make this much-anticipated film all fans have hoped for in the past 28 years.

Like the man said: there’s no problems, only solutions.

"Are there any girls in here?"

That's kinda a cheezy question. I'm sure tons of women raised their hands.

Joseph Konsinski asked that because only guys were raising there hand to ask a question, and no female in the audience (of which seemed to be very few) had not asked a question yet.

Another fun interview with Cindy for Film Edge.

Below is a small excerpt. The complete interview about TRON & Caddyshack can be found here:
http://www.filmedge.net/Tron/Morgan.htm
FE: One of the things I’m still processing with the new film coming out is looking back at TRON and realizing just how far ahead of its time it was. The phrase “virtual reality” didn’t even exist for Steven Lisberger to pitch the film. How did he explain the film to you given where we were in 1981-1982 with no concept of what was about to come with computers?

CM: Luckily I had some technical background, I ran my own sound board in radio. In fact, when I’m running the Solar Sailer, there was nothing there. It was a completely black warehouse, there was a black riser in the middle and on top of that was basically a banquet table covered in black felt. And Lisberger said, “Okay, you’re up there, you’re on the Solar Sailer, you’re crossing the Game Sea — go!” I said, that’s it, I’ve got to ask you, what the heck are you talking about here? He showed me the Syd Mead graphics and I said, you want me to fly this ship? Okay, I don’t want to be the one to tell you this, Steven, but there’s no ship here. There’s nothing here but a table. He said, “Whatever you do, the Disney artists will put in the ship underneath you.” So I flew the Solar Sailer exactly as if I was running a sound board.

Cindy Morgan as Yori in TRONWhen he was explaining the concept of being in the other world, Steven was pretty good at explaining it conceptually: if you create something, does it have a life of its own? Does it have a two-dimensional version of you somehow embedded in it? I viewed Yori as a two-dimensional version of Lora. Yori was everything Lora was but more childlike with fragments of memories. So when she first saw Flynn, there was a recognition but she didn’t know why, and an attraction which was confusing.

When I did the press junket for TRON, I would explain the concept to people by telling them to remember the WIZARD OF OZ: how Dorothy was in one world and it was black and white, then she went into the other and it was color, and there were all these people she kind of knew from her other world. That was all I had to compare it to in 1982. But now it makes a lot more sense, that it’s two-dimensional and it has fragments of your memories. I think it’s a cool concept to think that when you create something, it has fragments of you embedded in it.
