Cool QuickVid! I saw it on Sunday but forgot to post about it (in fact, I saw it so early that the first time I checked on Sunday morning, last week's video was still up).

Did you notice how I ended it just after she said that? My wife is the sweetest woman in the world... until you piss her off or get just a little too annoying (which I tend to do). THEN she kind of scares me. Thought I crossed the annoyance-factor threshold, so I did my tongue-face and ended it right there. Turns out she was just trying to tell me to "bleep out" the curse. She said "blink it" though. It was explained in our follow-up conversation. She has her own way of saying a lot of things. She's awesome and I love her with all my heart, though. I'll stop before I cross the sap-factor threshold.

You know - I was trying to spare younger folks from my wife's naughty little outburst, but then you go heading to the garage like that and go hurting your ears other ways.
Seriously, I try to keep the content on my site PG. There may be double-meaning to things and some subtle, hidden imagery in my stuff (NOT adult oriented though), but I'd like to think that my stuff is not offensive to anyone... or at least to most.
Hidden imagery - just check out Cutting Room Floor sometime and watch those frames during flash-points toward the end. There are some (potentially) disturbing images in there, but most people just miss them. Did I mention that I just had to sneak some Rob Zombie like imagery in that one? Well, the kind of imagery he seems to be in to, anyway.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Maybe I should just go bowling instead. |
But with an evil army of TheReelToddlings, you'd be able to share your video editing workload around a whole load more people - think of the time you'd save! Videos created... in a SECOND! SEEEEECOOOOOOOOND!
But then again... bowling does sound kinda fun.

Ahh yes - an ENTIRE army of TheReelToddlings to spread out my work. Maybe I can do DAILY QuickVids again! Maybe I could even...
I really wanna go bowling though. I'm not that good at it, but I really love wearing those awful, stinky, flat-footed, rental shoes. Yeah - the rock!
Fun fact: I used to be the designated drunk guy back in the early 90's when me and the gang used to regularly go to Friday night "Rock-N-Bowl" at a local bowling alley. It was my job to get drunk and entertain everyone with my... drunkenness. Ahh - the good old days.

Haha! I know exactly what you mean with those 'technologies that don't quite exist yet'.
I watched a movie once (no idea what it was) where they had a surveillance camera picture of a criminal with a carrier bag in his hand, and to read the label on the other side carrier bag, they actually rotated the picture in three dimensions (as if the picture was suddenly a 3D model), so that they could spin the criminal around and see what was on the other side of the bag. Wha...? How is that even feasible? That would be impossible even in 200 years time!
Another thing that's weird with those one hour murder mystery dramas is that there's a designated key for every single command on a computer - I remember one programme where they were looking at this image on a computer, and with the push of a key, the image shrank down to one corner of the screen, then duplicated four times side-by-side so that the 'scientists' could analyse it better. It would be slightly more believable if it happened immediately, without it happening in one smooth, animated process.
Great QuickVid! I love Ron's mask at the end.

Well... I had my moments. Like that time at TJ's Big Boy restaurant where I didn't quite make it to the bathroom in time to puke. I made it in the door, but then it all came out right there on the floor!
NoExcuses Wrote:Haha! I know exactly what you mean with those 'technologies that don't quite exist yet'. |
Yes. What... do they think we're stupid? There's a damn button on the computer dedicated to enhancing images and another special button on a computer that turns 2D images in to rotating 3D images momentarily while they all position themselves on the screen? C'mon! I bust out laughing when I see that crap!
Mr. Sinistar Wrote:Bravo, Todd! Another fantasmagorical piece of hilarity! |
Thanks! It was easy... I mean with such idiotic things in these big, dramatic TV shows that are supposed to be so amazingly close to reality - it's easy to be funny. Really, they're the funny ones!

So - they have a name for that thing, huh?
Yeah - how stupid they must think we all are. I mean, back in the 80's, only the computer geeks noticed really off-the-wall stuff like that. But now, pretty much everyone knows and understands computers to a much higher degree. But we still see stupid things like the amazing SUPER-DUPER-CSI-PHOTO-ENHANCE-O-RAMA and when they do DNA searches in the national "mainframe" (I love how they STILL over-use that word) that when a match is found, the words "MATCH FOUND" appear in a font so large, it takes up the whole screen and it flashes red and white while a beeping sound accompanies it.
Oh, and I LOVE when TV people get e-mail. You can tell when they get an e-mail because the words "INCOMING E-MAIL" appear on the screen in very large writing, and often inside an enormous e-mail icon that animates an envelope opening up just before displaying the e-mail message on the screen in yet another enormous font that is so large, that only 4 or 5 lines of text fit on the screen. I mean COME ON - no one wears glasses on TV so they all need GIANT fonts to be able to read it? Even in the TV narrative storytelling angle, the audience doesn't need such large, laughable text to display what e-mail looks like. We ALL know what it looks like. We are more than happy with a close up of the text on the screen to see the message - they don't need to blow it up to 72 pt font!

Oh, yes, and don't forget: _everything_ significant to the plot that a computer does is ALWAYS heralded by a "beep". Including things like just hitting the Enter key. Even though in real life computers seldomly beep unless they're telling us about an error. But it's a MACHINE! It's TECHNOLOGY! Of the FUTURE! Therefore, it _must_ beep! Everybody _knows_ that all futuristic technologies beep!
(laughs)
Oh, and the dramatic loud TAP! of the Enter key that then makes every significant computer thing for the scene happen all in one go, afterwards. That's another great movie cliche, too. :P

Loved the latest QuickVid, especially the ending.

Maybe when Halloween rolls around, you could make a QuickVid with everyone wearing TheReelTodd masks?

LOL! That's so funny that you should make a Quick Vid of that topic, because I drive my wife nuckin' futz every time I complain about that (During a CSI... her favorite show..)
However, I do take comfort in the fact that someone else besides me can recognize that for the complete BULLSH** that it is. |

I have to be honest - I don't watch CSI, but I'm somewhat familiar with it. I remember when it first came out how it was touted as being the most realistic crime scene drama show on TV. Then when I saw a clip of it here and there, I was kind of scratching my head. Apparently the most realistic crime scene show on TV is using technologies that don't quite exist yet - like the ability to enhance images from a few pixels to very high resolution and get DNA testing results in a matter of hours when it REALLY takes WEEKS!!
What?
Not to mention they use all the old cliché computer things mentioned already. Silly, not even close to realistic e-mail screens, etc.
I just can't believe how many people actually buy that stuff. It's one thing if you watch it and understand that they have to keep the story moving along and can't wait 3 weeks for DNA testing results to come back for dramatic purposes. It's another thing when they just make up idiotic technologies that don't exist, like their amazing imaging enhancement utilities. Why on earth can't they try for a more realistic approach?
I haven't seen the show (aside from a few clips), but I wouldn't be surprised if during a car chase scene, one car crashes and spontaneously explodes upon impact... and bullets kill people instantly when they're stuck... and the guy in the rubber mask would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids!
