trekking95 Wrote:Also with the trackballs, would you get a 2 1/4 in. or a 3 in. one from a gaming standpoint? And some places sell control circuits for trackballs, would I need one or would the one you have and linked work?
I hope I didn't already ask this! |
I personally prefer the 3in., but, it's all a matter of preference. Another factor is how high the ball sticks out of the top. I know Happ sells one that's a little higher than most. I believe it's for Golden Tee Golf. It is very expensive, though. As far as the control circuit goes, it depends on the trackball being sold. If it's usb ready, then no, but if it's not then it probably has some kind of board or has a hook up for the I-Pac. The seller should have the info on it.
trekking95 Wrote:And do you think this one looks any good? Or is that the type that mounts only on metal control panels? |
That one is made to hook up to the board on an ARKANOID arcade cab. It would need some kind of board to hook it to a computer. Someone in the BYOAC forums might be able to shed some light on hooking this spinner up to a pc. I'm sure mods have been done to use original arcade parts on pc arcade cabs.
Did you ever sort out that problem with signing up to the BYOAC forums? Jet Lives! |

They have this, do you think that would work for a Arkanoid spinner or would there be more to it? And I finally did get the email from them activating my account so I could go there and ask. Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

It looks like it. It says that it would work with "Taito™ Arkanoid spinner (Optic board Marked WICO)". I would ask the person selling the spinner on ebay if the optic board is marked WICO. If it does, then you have a winner.
One thing that I would keep in mind is the shipping expense. It might be worth it to see if the ebayer has a pc adapter for sale. If so, they might be willing to ship it with the spinner at no extra shipping cost. Jet Lives! |

Oh yeah, about this one, since it has only one slot will it work with a 2 player game? Or do you just put the 2 coins through the same slot? Like if I wire a switch in a track through it? Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. For 4 player games like Simpsons, Xmen and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you would need a separate coin slot or button for each player. Most other arcade games don't require separate coin slots for multiplayer, but I haven't played all of them... yet.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion Jet Lives! |

Yes, that and a spinner. But, I seem to recall some tutorials for modding the cheaper happ sticks so that a button can be added. And, speaking of spinners, I've got the bearings and other parts ordered to build two spinners. Parts, should be here within a couple of weeks. If all goes well, I'll post the instructions on building them. Then, I'll work on converting a happ competition stick into a rotary stick.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill Jet Lives! |

I have seen pictures of 4 player arcades and they each have a coin button. That might be cheaper then 4 coin slots and easier to find since I have never seen a 4 slot door.

That's great!!!!! So did they make a custom Tron game since the original doesn't have 3 players or is the Tron part just the cabinet? And speaking of 3 players when the screen is tilted up it must be for just one player since you couldn't see it from the side. And if the video already answered those questions I don't know since I don't have speakers hooked up right now. Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

I thought of a solution. When you set up the buttons in MAME you can assign button combinations to a command. So, for the player 1 coin you could assign P1 button and Coin door switch. And for player 2 coin you could assign P2 button and coin door switch. That way, player one just holds down the P1 button and puts in a coin to add a credit and player two does the same to add a credit to their character. This could be done for all additional players.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion Jet Lives! |

So it would tell the computer to expect a coin for that player? That's a good idea. And MAME would let you do that?

Yes. In the button config, you can press two or more buttons at the same time to assign them to a button function. That tells MAME that both buttons have to be pressed. So, on my Playstation 2 controller, I have it set up so that "Left Shoulder Button + Start Button" = Exit Game and "Right Shoulder Button + Select Button" = Reset Game.
For your situation you would go under "Input (general)" and then "Other Controls". After this, highlight "Coin 1" and press Player one button 1 on your panel. Now press the buttons you want to assign to "Coin 1". Press the coin door leaf switch and Player one button 1 on your control panel at the same time. Then do the same for "Coin 2" except your going to press coin door leaf switch and Player two Button 1.
With this set up you would hold down Player One Button 1 when putting in a coin to add credits to player one. And Player Two Button 1 when putting in a coin to add credits to player two.

Man, that's pretty impressive. I'm not too crazy about the button configuration, but it looks well done. How is he able to sell them? Did he license any of the art or games? Plus, MAME has a strict policy about selling anything with their software. I could see selling the cabs without any software or side art. But, 5,000 is too much for just the cab and selling it with a bunch of unlicensed game and art is a quick way to get sued. Jet Lives! |

That sounds like it would work good! I just have to find a good leaf switch and make a coin track, that would be a lot cheaper then buying a coin door with a mech.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

I would use plexiglass for the track. Youtube has some video tutorials on cutting, shaping and joining pieces. Looks pretty easy to use.
I'm thinking of using plexiglass for the frame of the spinner. I'll see how it goes. As long as the plexiglass is rigid enough, it should work. There isn't much weight involved.
I'm working on a design for a trackball using plexiglass and parts from happ controllers. Happ has the bearings and the shafts that the ball sits on. The ball is a bit expensive from them so I'm going to see if I can get them else where or an equivalent. I plan on mounting the board of an optical mouse on the bottom with the sensor pointing up at the bottom of the ball. I've experimented with various balls to see how well the mouse would pick up the movement, and it works flawlessly. I can pick up a wired optical mouse for about $5.00. Now, I just have to design the frame out of plexiglass.

I found this company for the ball. I've requested a price list. Hopefully, their prices are better than Happ's and they don't have a minimal order.
