By the way, the actor who played Rinzler was no actor at all. Disney found him on the internet. Those flips and tricks he did were what they wanted. Another Cool Disney move.

Did he do the non-word parts too?
Kinda wonder if he came into work and said, "OK I'm ready, show me the script."

So that's why Clu wanted freedom wiped out along with Users' influence. Then, to him, all would be perfect? Dork!
So when it came to Rinzler, size didn't matter. They took this guy, who was fabulous and all, to be Tron, even though Boxleitner is taller.
Forget it, Mr High and Mighty Master Control. You aren't making me talk.

But surely fabulous also comes in taller?? Don't care about height per se...just consistency. If they'd picked someone a foot taller than Bruce I'd be annoyed too.

Shorter people are generally more dextrous when it comes to crazy flips & stuff, mostly because they're capable of weighing less than tall people.

It's kind of silly to nitpick about Rinzler's height. It's like complaining about the way Flynn's hair is parted.

Well, really it's more like complaining that the kid who played young Sam looks nothing like you'd expect to grow up into Garrett Hedlund. Or that the CGI on Clu's face didn't really look like Bridges. Both of which have been done a couple times.

Rinzler wasn't a "dumb jock" or a "attack dog".
He doesn't kill Sam when he see's his simulated blood. An attack dog wouldn't stop nor care and just continue to attack to kill.
Rinzler still thinks, can adjust his sight and track energy "foot prints" to go after and find Flynn and Sam. He can still pilot a Recognizer and fly a Light Jet which require thought and skill, and an attack dog doesn't have the ability to do such.
He captured Quorra, and not kill her outright. An attack dog would of just attacked and killed her, not "arrest" her.
A "dumb jock" typically doesn't know how to look for clues and track down a person, or pilot a large flying craft that requires specific knowledge and skill to fly.
Tron was "brainwashed" i.e. re-purposed via hacks done by Clu. Adjusted to serve and obey Clu's orders, but he was not reduced to the level of mindless attack animal.
His "gurgle" is either due to an injury from Clu's attack, or an after affect from the
hack/re-purposing.
Yes it *is* sad that Tron as Rinzler was made to kill innocent Programs (which he was strongly against) and altered to serve Clu "against his will". But other than that Rinzler was a pretty bad ass character and that *is* Tron... just "brainwashed" in a way.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I think what may of happened is that Clu attempted to modify Tron's program script. He may of had to modify him so much to keep him loyal that he kinda became "damaged" or Clu wasn't completely sure what he was doing.
Either way, he makes for a cool, tragic, character and he gets redeemed in the end, which was a great suprise.. I really didn't mind the different actor. It wouldn't have worked if there wasn't much of a change and for the acrobatics, he kinda needed it. It's obvious ENCOM's system and The Grid have an enormous tech gap and it definitely seems like Flynn's influence helped in that respect.

"Attack dog" was the best phrase I could think of to describe Rinzler. I didn't mean to suggest he was a mindless beast. He retained his fighting ability, he could track targets, and had enough intelligence and initiative to carry out Clu's orders faithfully, but there didn't seem to be much Tron there. When you suppress someone's personality to the point where they exist only to serve, what else would you call them? And hearing the arena announcer say, "Release Rinzler" the way someone might say, "Release the hounds!" only reinforces that impression.

I think "release Rinzler" was just an aspect of the Light Cycle game's automatic security routine in case of some major violation of the game rules, like attempted escape from the arena...
It's sort of like when the Armory is programmed to release the Sirens so they can fulfill their functions... But they aren't locked away in the armory for every single microcycle though... such as Gem was allowed to free roam.
