No, really, he is. He's just so much under Clu's control. Consider:
--That "purring" sound...which we have described here as "machine-like" before...precisely! Clu's got his personality so suppressed that he's practically an automaton.
--You never hear him talk...it's like there's barely anyone in there.
--Notice how he's somehow shorter than he used to be as Tron (which I didn't even notice until someone here pointed it out some time back). Okay, we get it, the actor who plays him is short. Surely there are filmography tricks to hide this. Or, just get a taller actor. The guy who played him isn't the only dude with a great bod and good moves out there, and it doesn't matter who you get because he wears a helmet for the whole film. I suppose we could consider that a mistake, or perhaps it was done intentionally to imply that as Rinzler, he's been "reduced" to this.
--He never really stands up straight. His head is always a little bowed, like he's been so dogged down.
--And the utter worst, that makes you want to cry, practically: anybody notice in the light cycle scene where Clu says "release Rinzler!" What? Release him?? Does Clu keep the poor dude locked up?? Is that what that was supposed to mean???
It's all sort of pathetic anyway, and then you think, "OMG, that's Tron in there!!!" and then it gets really sad. Tron must've been so strong-willed that Clu had/has to go to extremes to keep him under control and Rinzler-like. I bet the rectification was NOT pretty.
(I'm working on a fic about poor Rinz. It's gonna take a while and at least one more viewing of the movie until it's done and post-worthy, though. But obviously it's had a lot of this stuff going through my mind.)

I think that Rinzler looked so short because he's always slouching.

Rinzler speaks in the film: "I. Fight. For the Users!"
I tend to think that just because someone is subservient or shows qualities of obediency, it doesn't mean they're depressed. Maybe the rectification process represses memories and makes it harder to feel emotions of depression or harder to have thoughts of 'maybe the grass is greener on the other side.' Otherwise, Clu would have a huge militia of depressed programs.

I didn't say HE was depressed. I said the whole character is depressing.
And why "not this again"? When was the last time this was discussed? I certainly haven't seen it since I've been on this board. Mentioned here and there, yes, but not in detail.

I feel for him because of knowing Tron the way we did from the old film and the flashbacks. He was always smiling except when he had to fight. He was loyal to Ram and Flynn and Yori too (loved how he got in between Yori and Flynn, that cute look on his face, kinda like "beat it buddy"). We see him sacrifice his life for Flynn. And then he becomes this. Strong but fairly powerless. Even Vader got to push people around occasionally. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

yeah, poor tronzler. i kinda dug that fake original treatment thing where it had tron just disguising himself as rinzler (called Rez in that one) the whole time and kept his opponent's identity discs in his quarters waiting for the day that kevin flynn could bring them back. order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

I am still waiting for someone to explain to me where this has been discussed before. I know it has been brought up before that the actor is short. Beyond that, again, I have not in my time here seen a thread discussing exactly what the hell Clu may've done to Tron.
And seriously?
