IF you could travel back in time, where would you go?
I'd go to the 50's, myself. Love the music, the clothing styles and the cars.
From there, the 1930's France. From there the 70's to see Zeppelin in Concert and to have an excuse to own a 1970 Dodge Van that has shag carpeting inside and a killer mural of a panther on the side.
I would then hide the Car for 40 years, and install the mother of sound systems on it.
How about you?
And yes, going back in time to the 80's to See Tron in theaters is a given, we would ALL do that.

I would go to a whole bunch of different points in the life of Churchill -- journalism, Boer War, navy days, the whole thing -- and try to get a sense of what the man was really like beyond all the speeches and personality.

Now, I know I'm gonna get one of those "don't take things so seriously like you always do, LWSrocks" messages, but scientists have actually said that when Time Travel is invented, it would be impossible to time travel to any point in time before the Time Machine was actually made. I mean, you could try, but you'd disintegrate. Or derezz. Whichever you prefer.
Yeah, sorry if I end up turning a light-hearted jokey topic into a serious discussion about time travel, I just thought it related to the topic... |
I specifically put "Back in Time" when I created this thread. Shame on you LWSrocks. Go to your room! You're grounded now Mister/Missy!

Lol. Now to the ON-TOPIC part of this post, I would also go back to an 80's arcade with a cellphone, iPad, and iPod touch so I could stand next to an arcade machine and whoever goes up to it would see it, I would say- "Oh, look- I'm playing that game on this small, handheld touchscreen device! How interesting."

So I guess that makes me a dad. Huh! So that's how it feels to be a dad... Why has my life suddenly lost all meaning...?

This reminds me of Einstein's time travel conundrum. I think it was Einstein...
Anyway, he (if it was him) presented the problem of a person going back in time to kill their father, because they want never to have been born. So they go back, succeed and were never born, but the problem is, if they were never born, they couldn't have gone back in time to prevent their birth, so they were born, but they went back in time and prevented their birth, so they weren't born, but if they weren't born there was no one to prevent the birth. Ha. And then you've broken time and caused a circle of nonsense that will never end.

I'd go back to 1985 in a heart beat. Movies, music, toys, people, television, Michael Jackson and the lifestyle in general was just soooo me back then. Today, I feel so out of touch. Like I don't belong here. For a 32 year old, I'm quite old fashioned. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion "So, nice-looking ship you got here ." |

Oh, honey, I can show you plenty of people who are living proof that you don't have to stop drinking beer when you become a dad...no worries. (I got my personal ass covered on that front: I'm never having kids AND I go for hard liquor. But I do drink with people who are dads...and moms....and beer lovers!)

I would not time travel. My reasoning rests in the fact that if I did, whatever I had gone back in time to do would have already been done (by me), thus creating no reason for me to have gone back in time in the first place. But if there was no reason for me to go back in time in the first place, I wouldn't have gone back in time, thus meaning that what I had gone back in time to do would have never been done thus meaning I would have gone back in time to do it. But if I were to do that, it would have already been done, thus eliminating any need to go back in time in the first place and..

Y'know, it occurred to me tonight that I'd love to go back to a time without artificial light, when the only thing that kept me from seeing the stars--the real stars--was a few campfires. ("Og! Put that fire out, you're creating light pollution! Jerk.")
(and then I'd come back to the present with soap and feminism and stuff. But I might spend one night way back then.)

I would go back to several points throughout time (ancient times to current) in an attempt to help change history. Might be somewhat like the old-school TV show, "Quantum Leap" but with a much more socially conscious reasoning behind it. I'd also go back to the late 70s, when a young Bostonian planted seeds for what would later become our beloved sci-fi franchise TRON.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I would also make sure to get the 2 channel stereo, Dolby stereo, and mono sound mixes. I'd then do a full restoration of the films, since it is obvious that George Lucas won't do it. Perhaps I would take the 21st century equipment with me to do the resoration, then return with the digitized files instead of lugging the films around. Yeah, that would work. |

That's cool and all, but without the Cell Service Provider, the phone is dead in the water. You wouldn't have any bars in that time.
You MIGHT have internet, though. As it was invented in '69, but you would have to work up some gnarly machine to get it to work for your phone, and even then, it would likely be slow.

The Grandfather Paradox makes this an impossibility. If you went back in time and killed your parents, you'd still exist. Why? Because by going back in time you are creating a new timeline tangential to the one whence you came from. To put it simply, Back to the Future is flawed. Marty would not be erased from the photograph because even if his parents never got together he would still exist, he just wouldn't have been born in that instance of the timeline. The problem with people thinking about time travel is that, as Doc says, aren't thinking fourth dimensionally, they are thinking linearly. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Stephen Hawking suggested that the absence of time travelers from the future is an argument against the possibility of time travel because if it were possible we'd already have time travelers or "tourists" from the future among us now but how would we know they were time travelers at all? They certainly would not be able to change their future, they could only affect the destiny of the time line they are currently in. That's the reason why Terminator is flawed.
