Seeing as they're even going along with releasing this trailer, I wouldn't be surprise if 3 was already secretly greenlit. And they really have turned Tron into a huge franchise. There's Two movies, an animated TV series, comic books, a graphic novel, video games, toys T-shirts, belts, and shoes, amongst other things. it really wouldn't be a smart move to not create a 3rd movie. The prospects are unimaginable for the series.

And the trailer looks AMAZING. It gives us an epilogue to Legacy (even though RAM and apparently Alan don't know that Sam responded to the Pager), and it gives a lot of credibility to the other teaser trailer of the Dillingers and Quorra as well, that one I'm really excited for, as it will probably give us more details on the plot of 3.

There will be a Tron 3 for sure after this, how can they not? I think it is so cool to have the original Ram back when they could easily get anyone to play that part. When Ram was calling Alan an "isoLatedThinker", do you think he was hinting that Alan is an ISO in the real world?

Also at the end of the clip when Sam reveals the "Flynn Lives" shirt, does this take place before Legacy? Before Sam goes to the grid or after?

Did anyone notice Cindy, Yori anywhere in the clip?

Yeah, Sam definitely does not look as much like he does at the end of the movie as he does in his daredevil phase before he goes onto the Grid. The only thing is.. That said... totally dig this short. The "Flynn Lives" shirt at the end was awesome. Sam's lookin' kinda rough, though...

Sam's appearance at the Encom offices in this epilogue/teaser occurs AFTER the end of LEGACY.

Also, LEGACY's theatrical run "didn't ramp way down" -- when it came out, it was a strong and steady performer, and it's been one of the most solid performers at the BO over the past many months... movies eventually and ultimately recede at the BO in terms of numbers -- that's just plain inevitable. LEGACY'S domestic BO opening weekend of $42 mil was considered very strong -- especially for a movie without an internationally known comic book hero in it, nor popular current book series tie-ins, etc. And especially as a sequel to a movie that came out 28 years ago, which hadn't been seen on mass levels, or have the awareness the likes of what the STAR WARS movies had. LEGACY continued strong at the BO for many weeks/weekends after its release, holding its own very well against new releases as they came along.

In any event, they did have SOME idea about the money making power of TRON as a franchise going into this... even though the original TRON movie had been somewhat of an underdog (yet it actually did well, but not great, at the BO back in the summer of '82 -- and many movies were overshadowed by the release of E.T. that summer too). The wildly enthusiastic audience reaction at Comic-Con in 2008 to the TR2N VFX trailer, and the numerous news posts and chats about it on several websites afterwards, were what helped seal the deal for green-lighting LEGACY -- so again, there was some idea.

All things considered, LEGACY kicked ass at the box office.
