I've been reading these boards for a while without ever posting, but this has finally pushed me to make a post! I've been sooooo excited about this video ever since we got rumors about it having been filmed. I was hoping it would get leaked early!

First response: RAM!!!!!!!!!! It makes me so happy to have him back (or his user, that is)! Ram was pretty much my favorite character in the original (never could decide between him and Flynn, and Tron is close, too... gah, so many great characters!). If Tron 3 gets made -- and I believe it will -- I REALLY hope they keep him in it somehow, preferably in a significant way. I really hope this whole storyline of him and Alan re-taking Encom stays involved! Heck, I'd be perfectly happy if they were the two main characters! Which leads me to my second point....

This 10-minute short was pretty much everything that I wanted Legacy to be. Don't get me wrong, I loved Legacy. But as a big fan of the original, I felt like Legacy wasn't connected enough.... it had the same setting, some of the same vehicles, a couple (and I stress, a couple) of the original characters, but that felt like about it. Otherwise, it didn't feel like much of a sequel.


However, this clip is almost exactly what I was looking for! It's got a very solid connection to the original (Ram's user and Alan being deeply involved with Flynn Lives and now going to re-take Encom), while still moving forward with the new story. If this is any indication of what's in store for Tron 3, then I am very hopeful. Just so long as they somehow work all of this into the plot and not brush it off!

I gotta say, I must be more of a die-hard fan of the original than I thought, 'cause I downright squealed when I saw the popcorn!

I know it seems kinda trivial to us but actually there are all manner of business issues tied up in this. For one when something is put on the net that was not intended to be and the actors are not paid for that specific purpose, well lets just say things get ugly in the Screen Actors Guild world. So they have a vested interest in not just protecting their property but their business practices within the entertainment community when they yank down video like this.

I wonder why Roy "Ram" asked Alan why Flynn gave him the cool nickname Tron?

Wouldn't he have known where the name Tron came from since Roy must have known Alan wrote a program called Tron? Anyone?

Even though you need to buy the Blu-Ray disc in order to watch the "teaser trailer", but just like ShadowDragon said, it "helps to inspire interest and demand for TRON 3".

Well, I understand you, believe me that is the way I would have done it but maybe there is some other wrinkle to this that I am not seeing since I wasn't in the room with the execs when they decided to make things turn out the way they did. Trying to make a winning product for the masses that not only is plausible and satisfying while at the same time compensating your actors and other film-makers can be a daunting task and often times when one door is opened you are forced to close many other doors and choose the brutal path rather than the pleasant one. I think we also saw some of that with the toys, why we don't have certain figures because one or maybe more designs weren't approved by the actors portraying them in time or some such. Username as in the CHARACTER'S name, or his HANDLE??

The video doesn't tell us his handle, only that he was the "Flynn Lives" Hacker. His character's name is Mathew Roth.

I dunno... it seemed kind of hokey to me... that's NOT the MCP voice I remember. If this is the real deal does this mean that they're going to remove the need for David Warner by having him just be the MCP... ugh.
