I really laugh my butt off when I see like one person out of like 80 - 100 comments on the youtube posting of the new trailer saying " it looks very CG heavy" LMAO.
I guess some of these goofballs on Youtube just don't understand the movie takes place *inside a computer* within a partly metaphysical *digital* cyber space realm!
Heck they even built several HUGE sets that blend with the CG/VFX but aren't CGI. Sets like Flynn's within The Grid, half of the Light Runner is real, the End of Line Club a real set, Flynn's safe house, and some parts of the city street in The Grid, and a few others are real sets. "Look very CG heavy. " Just too funny!

Yeah I thought that was funny too. There's actually more "real" in the computer world than there was in the original. Even the suits have real lights on them vs the original film where the glow was painted on in post-production.

First of all: don't let yourself spoil the fun about the new movie by my writing. Thats not my intention! I just want to write up some thoughts about it. So, please don't hate me^^
The more I see of this, the more I'm in doubt if I gonna like this movie.
Tron had a specific look, when it comes to Tron legacy its my impression that this movie could also take place in a science fiction space environment and that the fact thats it playes inside a comupter/network could be overseen
Also there are three things that shouldn't fly, but all of it did: Godzilla, R2D2 and a Tron Programm.^^
When it comes to effect, my first impression is, that they are not outstanding. Its the same old cry with modern computer effcts: you can see that they are artificial. They still are not so perfect that you couldn't notice the differnece to a real life scene...
I miss the time when you could see that there is a special effect, but you didn't mind because you could imagine all the work that stood behind it.
Just remember the guy that told Dan Shor:"I hate your nose"
Also I fear that they use Tron just to produce a franchise where story and the stories world doesn't matter that much.
Just like in the "first three" Star Wars titles, that brought us JarJar Binks and a stupid jump and run sequence in a robot factory. Maybe the film will be good for 2010, but less good in 2020.
But otherwise, I will of course go to cinema and see it. My first tron film on the big screen!
When I like it, I will repent here at once^^

I think it is ok that people are worried about the CG Bridges', we are passionate about the film, we want to see sequels made, we want a franchise. Why wouldn't we want the effect to be the best?
So Tron: Legacy's music sounds like Batman, so the look and feel is like the Matrix. Quorra is Trinity, light jet scenes look and feel like Star Wars... blah blah. And for those saying this is not the final CG Bridges, I have news for you... rendering takes a lot of time. Maybe they will fix it, maybe not. If it is not finished they should have not put in in the trailer in the first place.

It's fine to have a opinion, but it seems anyone with a positive opinion is harshed on and that's way uncalled for. |
It's not because you're positive about a Tron sequel, that's great. Not sure anyone disagrees with that. In fact, I think we're all positive about the sequel. (Okay, some are maybe just cautiously optimistic ) The problem is that you often flame and disrespect those who point out any negatives with the new film, which sometimes inevetibily cycles back as a flame to you. It seems you're aware of the flames at you, but maybe not of the flames you cast. Regardless, I agree that the flames are no good. Since they're cyclical and appear to usually start by the T:L protectors, how should we work through this? Seems to me either people stop posting negative critiques, or the T:L Protectors stop flaming when they see a negative comment. To me, the latter seems the most reasonable path to take on an Internet forum. Posting The Dude like you did there is a flame. Ad hominem... interesting observation, Imbruglio.
Hopefully Admins will create forum rules someday with one of the 10 rules being to ban users who provoke others into flame wars through personal jabs or inflammatory sarcasm (nip it in the bud). Right now, the Rules link just goes to the following error, so maybe you're safe to keep making things personal when someone doesn't like something with the new movie:

At any rate, time to move on. I've said my piece and have a new film to be excited about and critique. Neomanga, that is a very interesting point! I wonder if that is what's causing problems or making things difficult for the animators. Seems like they scanned his face around the same time they did the acting, like you say. Surely he couldn't have shaved it for the scans and then grown it back so quickly? So did they scan him with the beard?
|
No, man. You can't critique it. That's the very point. Because the milisecond you do, you'll have SD or CR diving in to call you a troll for having done so. Personally I think there needs to be a Legacy Love Fest thread where only the jaded and unflappable go to fall all over themselves blindly salivating over every aspect of the flick without one shred of discussion over any possible shortcomings. Oh... crap. Did I just indicate that there may be shortcomings with Tron Legacy? I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY!!
And this crap with the "oh, golly, gosh... I'm so innocent and didn't flame anyone myself, honest" line needs to stop. It's like the guy in a room full of people who farts and then looks around asking if anyone smells anything. Maybe we both farted, but at least own up to the fact that you at least contributed to the new aroma.
That... and LIGHTEN UP!! Just about everything I post here is done so with my tongue practically bursting out the side of my cheek. Not everything in life needs to be taken so seriously. And yes, I do take my Tron seriously. But when it comes to messages posted on a fan forum, I wouldn't think that anyone would get as up in arms as many around here tend to do. |
gee..thanks for singling out me and shadow there rusty ol' boy. we never said you can't critique the film......we don't call anyone on here a troll for their opinions..and we don't have blind loyalty to this film.... honestly i can make a few comments about stuff i don't like involving this film...but it would be minor complaints and nit-picking whereas it seems as if some ppl on here are just blowing stuff out of proportion constantly whining about little stuff..
i say somebody call the "whaaaaaaambulance" and get these ppl a happy meal with a tron toy...

The sneak preview shown on No Ordinary Family was 1 minute long. It sort of reminded me of the South Park episode where the kids watched a show just to see a brief clip from an upcoming Terrance and Philip movie.
I can see what people are saying about the CGI Clu. His face/head looks a bit stiff and flat. Personally it doesn't bother me since he is supposed to be a computer program. Clu is diferent than the other programs. We'll see when we view the finished product.
The clip they showed looked really good to me and it looks like a fun movie and not a lazy sequel.
Anytime a franchise is brought back some fans of the original enjoy it and others don't.

Regarding "...so the look and feel is like the Matrix". I've heard people here and there repeating this thought, but I can't figure out what similarities they might be thinking of.
The look of the world is totally different, the clothing and armor characters wear is different, the basic premise bears no similarity besides the fact that it involves computers. I don't think we've seen enough fighting to really know for sure, but I have a hard time imagining lightdisc combat having much in common with running around with pistols and rifles.
Anyway, like I said, I'm baffled by the assertion that they are similar and would be curious to hear why some think it is so.

People are saying that this is Disney's version of the matrix, more aimed for kids, no guns but with discs etc. Quorra's fighting (at the 2:04 mark of new trailer 3) is similar to Trinity as well as her look. The plot and story between Sam and Quorra vs. Neo and Trinity has similarities. The color correction of the Tron Legacy real world is similar. It is kind of ironic how the Matrix borrowed from Tron but in the end Tron Legacy became more like the Matrix?

People are comparing it to the Matrix because that's all the modern viewer even has to compare it to. It's the most recent cyber thing, and was epic for its time, therefore became the standard.
One thing the noobs don't realize in the trailer though I think, is that it's a REAL world, and the body actually gets teleported there (and I actually wonder now if Disney is actually even going to explain that at some point. It's really an easy thing to overlook) as opposed to being someone wired into some kind of VR system.
For Matrix comparisons, really there's only 3 things I can think of. One is the Quorra/Trinity thing (already mentioned). But that's nothing new. Trinity utterly slaughtered originality for female leads in action films. I for one am really getting tired of the cliche of sexy warrior chicks in black skin-tight leather. It's so bad that it even took over that Chun Li film (not that there was anything left to ruin in that film, but its still a good example), taking an iconic character image that everybody recognizes and turning it into another Trinity clone. Society REALLY needs some new fetishes. It's time to move on from the dominatrix look. I give Quorra a little slack though, because she glows, and that hairdo is pretty cool too (so glad they didn't go for the typical greased and slicked back look). I just pray she has more emotion than all the other girls of her character archetype.
For the other similarities: CLU = Agent Smith. Smith did the same thing CLU is trying to do, or at least, one of his numerous clones did. He found a way to upload himself into reality. As far as I can tell though, the similarities end there.
And then finally, I 'guess?' People are looking at the structures and thinking it looks like the machine city from the Matrix? Complete with the blackened skies and the lightning? That must be what they're seeing. I didn't notice that at all though. Sometimes though I think its all about what you saw first. For those of us who already had Tron in our lives before the Matrix, we're going to pick on those visual cues more strongly. For those who only know the Matrix, they're going to pick up on the elements that remind them of that.

Here is my take on the clu/young jeff animation. Have you watched Jef talk latley....He has developed some strange mouth formations when talking and the cgi is mirroring it in my opinion.
I though the CGI was jarring the first time we saw young bridges in Sam's room, But then I watched the bridges interviews form comicon 2009 and he matched the cgi! Due to the way they do the facial capture on RL Jeff his actual mannerisms are going to come through and we will see some of RL jeff in Young cgi Jeff.
So please guys keep this in mind when picking apart the CGI jeff.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

It looks like a run-of-the-mill action FX film. It really does. It'll probably be worth going to see the same way that the first Transformers was. I just hope I like it well enough to buy it on disk when it hits the home video market (unlike Transformers).
