Never said or implied people can't post their opinions.

In my opinion it sounds like your writting off the sequel before even seeing the finished film. This is not a flame, and neither is it an attack btw.

I love and am a die hard fan of the original Tron, and IMO Tron Legacy looks amazing, the story seems solid, has a huge back story built up by the Flynn Lives campaign, the Graphic novel, and he narrative of the game Tron: Evolution, and from all the footage I've seen the film seems to have a well scripted story with a good emotional core to it. Just my opinion. Don't taze me now.

Now I await more people on here implying that I'm "blind", "need to see an optomitrist", "being over-sensitive", etc, etc. lol Whatever.... Pardon me for having a positive view on the sequel. Whatever. :/order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Gee, I wonder what would happen if someone dared to like both for their own merits...

It's actually one of the things that turns me off from fellow Star Wars fans, that ridiculous group-think statement that "new trilogy sucks, old trilogy is divine". I grew up on the new trilogy, and I enjoyed them. Still enjoy them. Of course, when I saw the old trilogy, I loved them, too. "The Empire Strikes Back" is probably one of the greatest films I've ever seen.

In regards to Tron, after that first test video came out, you wouldn't believe all the old Tron fans coming down from their swoon at the good news and immediately start suggesting, "Hey, where's the complex circuitry? Rain in the computer? No Cindy Morgan?" It was innocent, but it holds the scary seeds of division, especially now that we have so much more footage to go by. Me; I am just stoked to see such a classic film revived in the form of a big-budget sequel in this day and age. I think Tron Legacy looks cool, and it will most likely become a beloved film of mine. But I won't be comparing it against the original Tron; it will have to hold it's own merits high.

Why use Norton AV or AVG to protect your computer when you could be using TRON instead!?

Funny you should mention The Matrix thou.

Why do I suddenly get the feeling that the Tron fanbase is going to get divided into the "new and better, but shallow" TL side, and the "old and cheesy, but good" original Tron side, ala the endless warring Star Wars tribes that gather on either side of the new/old trilogies?

*shudders*

I've seen too many fan communities get ripped apart that way, and I've been wondering that as I read this thread too. It's hard to tell how scary it could get though and we probably won't know for sure until the film is out. When a franchise gets a facelift like this, the oldschool fans typically suddenly find themselves flooded with a heavy influx of run-of-the-mill teenyboppers who are into it for no other reason than one of the characters are really cute. I'm hoping TL is above that kind of vaporware, but who knows for sure? I really hope they've kept just enough of the geeky element that an army of single-brain-celled organisms don't overrun the Sector.

Now, about this bickerfest that is quickly erupting into a flame war, I think we need a reboot before it gets any worse.

Reading Betrayal has given me absolute faith that Legacy will not fall into any "shallow" tropes you seem to assign to modern action-cinema. Condemning (or praising) a film based on its trailer is hardly sound judgement, to my way of thinking. Trailers have one purpose: to sell the picture. Sell it to those who buy everything else as well.

They are not meant as an encapsulation of dramatic content or any reflection of the narrative qualities of the movie itself.

Unless of course you believe that the mere presence of *any* measure of action-content immediately devalues any other relative merits the movie may have. But I don't think you mean that.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I hope this isn't the case but I think this is the direction the movie took when Liseberger was essentially shoved off to the side. What it all comes down to is the safest route to maximizing the bottom line for Disney. The demographics they are marketing this movie to is probably 18-24 year old males. Simplify the story line- Check. Lots of flashy special effects- Check. Rave music band with name recognition- Check.

Compare this to the original Tron storyline. The main plot of corporate greed and corruption. Technology advancing so far as to creating intelligent life forms. An underlying religious theme questioning the existance of supreme beings (users).
I don't think many kids nowdays would be able to comprehend most of that.

Matrix was more a rip off of the Doctor Who story 'The Deadly Assassin' than of Tron.

In my opinion the music sounds amazing and every bit as excellent as Wendy Carlos's score, like this piece is great IMO:

How does being an active participant, interview subject, producer and advisor equate to "being shoved aside?" Also, how is the story line simplified? Do you know the story line? Flashy special effects? You don't think the original Tron was built largely on flashy (for the time) special effects?

Also, although I think it's hard to compare something before you actually see it.... the original Tron barely had any story at all! I love it dearly, but in the story department it barely has a plot that's more involved than your average cartoon. It's got some great performances, interesting effects and a great look, true. And, yes, there are some interesting shadings and notions here and there and some great ideas running in the background... but it's not like they are mined in depth. It's basically an action-adventure yarn. Which I actually like about it. It flirts with some interesting ideas but it's not ABOUT those. At it's heart it's core it's an action-adventure run around with all that implies. And there's nothing wrong with that! Holding it up as some paragon of storytelling seems totally bizarre to me. It's got terrible pace issues and a half-hearted love triangle. I'm saying this as a HUGE FAN.

From the glimpses of Tron Legacy, I'd say there's going to be more "depth" than Tron was able to muster in the father/son storyline. The part I'm worried about most is if it's too humorless (part of what makes the original great is the sense of humor and fun it has) and if the character drama is a bit limp. I think it's got the exciting action sequence part in the bag... it'll just be interesting to see if you actually come to care about the characters or not.

Discuss it on tron-sector.com here.

LOL. Too funny. Hopefully the new movie won't be shallow... I don't get the vibe that it will be. But a divide is in the making, it seems. Since I have a feeling that I'll really like the new film, and many other original Tron fans will, too... I think the divide will be more like: "Both Tron movies are great, I wish T:L didn't do this, though" vs. "Both Tron movies are great, stop bashing on T:L". But you're right, there will be another faction who has never seen or didn't like the original who will use the opportunity to tease it and its supporters as much as possible any time T:L is critiqued. I should go check to see if "TronLegacy-Sector.com" and "TronOriginal-Sector.com" domain names are available

Now, can't we all just get along? Maybe this little video will inspire 10,000 megacycles of peace and prosperity within the Sector. Gather family and friends all around. Watch, listen, reminisce. Tron and Tron:Legacy may be two different movies with somewhat different visual approaches. But in their heart, in their soul, they are one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PZBMMT_LUQ&feature=relatedorder abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Jerrytron Wrote:Here is my take on the clu/young jeff animation. Have you watched Jef talk latley....He has developed some strange mouth formations when talking and the cgi is mirroring it in my opinion.

I though the CGI was jarring the first time we saw young bridges in Sam's room, But then I watched the bridges interviews form comicon 2009 and he matched the cgi! Due to the way they do the facial capture on RL Jeff his actual mannerisms are going to come through and we will see some of RL jeff in Young cgi Jeff.

So please guys keep this in mind when picking apart the CGI jeff.

Jerrytron, I noticed that a while back as well! I'm glad somebody else picked up on that! I think I must have watched those same interviews and you're right, the CGI mimics Jeff's real-life mouth movements of today. I remember reading an article or seeing an interview about how he wore some sort of headset with several different cameras filming his facial movements. I think Olivia Wilde referred to it in one of her interviews as the "Teletubby Head" or something like that! LOL! I'm not sure if they used markers on his face as reference points, but that would also contribute to the strange mouth formations as well. I still think it's amazing that they can actually do all of this. I can't wait to see some behind the scenes footage of how they accomplished it all and the technology behind it.

You could own the giclee print for $56 here: http://shop.littlewhitelies.co.uk/product/tron-legacy-16-x-20-print. I saw it mentioned in the first story on http://www.gizmodo.com/.

PS: Sorry, I didn't mean for it to look like I made it, if it came across that way. Just realized my post might have been misinterpreted as such. I was just showing off the awesome print I saw on Gizmodo.

And I see this on the LWLies site: "TRON: Legacy Issue Out Now" http://www.littlewhitelies.co.uk/blog/tron-legacy-issue-out-now-12865. I'm not sure what Little White Lies is, to be honest. I think I now vaguely remember someone posting something about LWLies a few days ago.

Completely disagree. WC's music at the time of Tron's release was almost wholly unique. Daft Punk's is exactly what I thought it would be. It's serviceable, but it's truly uninspired IMHO. I think Daft Punk was the wrong choice, and I said so the day it was announced that they were doing the soundtrack.

It doesn't suck, it just doesn't do anything for me. I get it: epic and dark, but I've never caught myself listening to it over and over on the net, or checking out when the soundtrack is set to release, or having it pop up in my head at any point.

Scores that stick with me:
Batman (The Burton flicks)
Superman (John Williams)
Indiana Jones (John Williams)
Hell, almost ANYTHING done by John "The Scoring God" Williams
The Matrix
Tron
Elliot Goldenthall's horror scores (Pet Semetary, Alien 3, Interview with the Vampire)
Back to the Future
Most of John Carpenter's synth scores
and so on...

(I think all of us can name off a couple of dozen soundtracks that stick with us)

Daft Punk's TL music just exists.

I am in agreement with you. IMO DP is just another rave band that uses a heavy bass
track and repetitive sampling to create music for people in clubs who just want to dance
while drunk or high on X. The incidental music I heard so far is ok, but the other stuff seems simple and shallow. Their music would be fine in the End of Line Club scene and the end credits, but someone else should have been selected to do main soundtrack.

The soundtracks that I really liked:
Dune by Toto
Day of the Dead by John Harrison
Star Trek soundtracks by Jerry Goldsmith
The Patriot by John Williams

IMO, the music tracks I've heard so far are excellent, layering ambient rythms with great bass beats, drums and even a full orchestra, little hints of Wendy Carlos and hints of Vangelis's music for "Blade Runner" ring through many of the tracks I've heard.

These brilliant peices of ambient electronica mixed with classical music accents,
digitally mixed taiko-like drum beats and digital bit-crush all layered and interwoven together in an musical tapestry have been excellent multilayered sweetness to my ears.

With each track I can picture looming Recognizers, the sprawling cyberscape of
The Grid, and and when I listen I can also easily picture in my mind Programs racing their Light Cycles and clashing their discs in combat, and Siren Programs emerging from white coffin-like "sleep mode units" to suit up Sam in his armor and suit.

When I listen to each track it just transports my mind to that realm in the same way the music of the original Tron did. They way the music sync up with each scene that I've seen at SD CC TL panel, the sneak peek at ElecTRONica, and the scenes show at Tron Night have IMO been nothing short of amazing. So far this is the one of the best scores I've heard since Lord of the Rings films and the score for the original "Batman" by Tim Burton. (sans the super cheesy Prince song...)
This is my opinion. Sorry if you disagree. ^_^abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Speaking of Daft Punk, I'm excited for the next album for TL next month and the Wii game as well . However, I'm a bit surprised they didn't adapt their popular song " Technologic " to the movie. It really does fit the theme of programs quite well.

Technologic is a great song but it would be hard to put it in TL. It would jar the audience out of the mood Joe Kosinski is trying to create I think. Its the type of thing that could be a barely heard background song or only during the credits. What I would like to see would be a redone video that was tron themed instead of the creapy naked chucky doll they used for it
