I guess it could be draft-quality renders, but I've never heard of marketing people using unfinished footage in trailers before. That's when they want to put their best foot forward to attract as many people as possible.

Well...if that's the case, then the Disney CGI department needed to take some training courses on how to use that software correctly and effectively. When I look back on footage from "Benjamin Button" and compare any of it to what I've seen so far from TRON: Legacy, it doesn't even look like it's in the same ballpark.

That trailer was spectacular! No more trailers for now.. please, that can not be topped. I loved the buildup and editing, first look at the solar sailer and light tank, the narration, the emotion in bridges, the retro set design in young sam's room, kevin flynn in black robe, the light jet scene.

Things I'm not sure about: at the 1:21 mark Sam running out of the building in the Tron World world. Seems like a not so cool way to arrive there.

At 21 seconds is that a cg bridges? Also is that the same clip from the original tron of bridges coming out of the encom helicopter?

Overall this completes my excitement for the film.

looking back at ben button i see a tremondous amount of light on the face to throw it off or make it somewhat diquisable which is why i think its looks good. i don't think you can compare the to (imo).
I think Tron Legacy is fine as it is already, sure it can get better, but damn what do you guys want. Maybe a release 2 years from now when technology is insanely better

I love this trailer! The best one yet. But the cgi Jeff Bridges is very... distracting. I have a hard time believing that this is the final render. Benjamin Button looked amazingly real and the young Bridges is being handled by the same team. I'm hoping the final product looks better. If not, when we go to see the movie we're going to get sucked in, and then this CGI Bridges is going jar us back into reality, breaking our suspension of disbelief and reminding us it's just a movie. And if that happens the viewers and critics will tear this movie apart, leading to a lower budget sequel or none at all.

I love CGI, that's what attracted me to the original Tron. But the visuals have to be consistent. If CLU looks CGI then so should all the other programs. The stars of the show shouldn't look less real than all the other characters. At least in the original Tron, everything was meant to look CGI. That was the visual clue that you were in the world of the computer. Sometimes less is more.

But, again, I don't think this is the final product.

Calling someone over-critical is a matter of perspective, SD1. If you don't notice the CG effects on his face does that make you destined for mediocrity? Underwhelming and non-quality oriented in your job? Not necessarily, but some might come to that conclusion. Thinking it, though, is one thing. Saying it on a forum to judge someone is a different story and asking for a conflict. Just something to keep in mind to help make this forum more civil again, free of personal jabs someday.

I like the new trailer. Shows a more personal and maybe emotional side of the film to draw in viewers who maybe need that. It's hard for me not to notice the CG'd mouth and chin, though. I think I'll get wrapped up in the moment when watching the film on big screen and not care, but it is something I hope they fix. Seems like enlarging it to IMAX size will make it just as obvious or more. If not, when this comes on DVD, I won't be watching it on a 6-story screen in my living room, so I hope they fix it so I don't notice it very much on my TV screen or portable DVD player. I didnt notice very much the Ben Button CG head until the end when be was young, like 17 years old. I didn't believe he was real in any part of that 5 to 10 minute segment; totally saw CG. My hope is that Flynn won't make me think that way. The trailers have me worried, but I'm crossing my fingers. Observant and detail-minded, yes. Overly-critical or too detail-minded? That's you're perspective and I'd take offense if you said that or twisted it into, "I don't know what you are 'complaining' about." Complaining being the word lacking tact.
