It's not easy to find, but the D23 site does mention something about the sequel.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures joins in the fun and excitement of D23's premiere event with special sneak previews and exclusive presentations for such eagerly anticipated upcoming live-action films as Disney's A Christmas Carol (from visionary filmmaker Robert Zemeckis and starring Jim Carrey in seven different roles), Old Dogs (with Robin Williams and John Travolta), Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway and introducing Mia Wasikowska) and Disney's state-of-the-art re-imagining of the cult classic TRON.

Not sure what to make of them describing the sequel as "re-imagined".

I dont like that word "reimaging" I sounds like an extreme makover. If I didnt knew better it could seem like they are doing that, shining up TRON, for a re-release.
Probably a bad choise of words. .....or is it?

hmmm..!

Either July 22nd, or July 23-26, 2009.

Here's what I think is going on down at Disney...I honestly believe there's a lack of communication about the movie between the different departments of Disney, which is probably on purpose due to the fact that they're being very quiet and secretive about the entire project and they don't want any small details to leak out.

You may remember the story a couple of years back when that stunt actor from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull spilled the beans on the entire plot of that movie in an interview for a small town newspaper and now he's not working in Hollywood anymore because he told spoilers. Disney is probably got some very neat story ideas that no one has thought up yet and they don't want anyone (even employees not working directly on TR2N) to let in on the big news until Comic Con 09 or the release of the movie or trailers.

I believe that the term "reimagined" was the word.

If it's reimagined, that may mean a Tron attraction may be in the works, OR a Disney employee misinterpreted the facts by using juxtaposition to explain TRON 2.0 with the "reimagineering" title Disney uses for their park projects.

If they simply related the new movie to the remake, someone needs to use more communication like Sinistar said.

Personally I hope it's the theme park speak because that term is not used for movies.

I guess I was wrong, disney reimagines movies all the time.. so that was not a reference to the possibility of a TRON attraction.. I just didn't research their use of that term.

That being said, What are you talking about Oniell? Anything that is coming from the entertainment business is being reimagined all day long, or else we wouldn't watch. lol

It's just that I absolutly hate remakes. The Day The Earth Stood Still, I am Legend, The Three Stooges, The Honeymooners, Batman, James Bond, etc.

They all suck.

I understand. But remember, this movie was only made once. I think it will transition well, just give them a chance. Everything I see from Joseph Kosinski's previous work in commercials is amazing. I can't wait to see the nike commercials in 2014 for the eye D.

Something as awesome looking as TRON will take quite some time to do.

Also, on that sentiment, keep in mind that Jeff Bridges was using the King Kong remake as the comparison, which was absolutely amazing.

Oh Crap... I think I might have started a TRON-Sector Civil War....

1. I never ever was a big fan of DC Comics, thus my dislike towards anything made by them.

2. Yes, Casino Royale was the Producers' idea of a "remake" for James Bond. But I was talking about Thunderball and the remake of it called "Never Say Never". I just hope the idea for ANOTHER remake of Thunderball, called "Warhead 2000", does'nt reach fruition.

Speaking of "Never Say Never" it was just on the USA network channel thingy yesterday. It reminded me of how much Sean Connery looked like a friggin' Grizzly Bear in that movie! Yuck!

P.S. I took Russian class in school. I got a B Grade in it. But now I have forgotten ALOT of what I learned in the class. I AM SHAMEFUL TO MY RUSSIAN TEACHER!!

Casino Royale was based on the book of the same name. It was not a remake of the 1960's movie starring Peter Sellers. That movie was supposed to be a parody of either the James Bond books at the time, or the movies. I really don't know.

Never Say Never Again is, in my opinion, a horrible movie. And you're right, it is a remake of Thunderball. However, a certain motorcycle stunt was recreated in the James Bond game "Everything or Nothing", and that worked out incredibly well.

And I said it was russian text because it showed up as all question marks when I posted it, lol

I know that, but I did not mean that Casino Royale was a remake of the older movie. It was a remake of the entire Bond franchise. A revamp, to be precise. So now, we'll have Daniel Craig star in the remake of the remake of Thunderball, called "WARHEAD 2000"!

Daniel Craig, if you're reading this, bail out while you still can before your acting career goes straight to the garbage dump.

Wait... I just De-railed the thread... NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!

I see what you mean. Yeah, "remake" is the wrong word. "Re-boot" would probably be the best phrase to use here, but even then, it's kinda iffy.

They just need to get their heads together and go back to the basics of what they did in the 60's and 70's films.
