I agree on those points, his Saab Aero X concept commercial was sick too.

but I'm worried about the specifics with Tron... not just acting, or costumes. you know.. it's more about a virtual theme inside of elaborate demons of the system where good and evil are a feature on the surface of politics. Where the fight is about something real. That's what makes them good.

Thanks for mentioning that, Kia. The guy contacted the Vancouver newspaper people and asked for more info on the budget. He said:

Because many were running with the budget story (in that it would be the most expensive movie of all time), I decided to contact the reporter for clarification. It turns out that the figure reported is in Canadian dollars and includes both production and promotion and other miscellaneous expenses (the reporter’s source is local). Converted to U.S. dollars, the figure is about $244M. Expensive, but not as high as was originally reported by other outlets.

Still though, a big budget is a plus. Though, not garaunteed, the movie has the ability to be made right.

I don't know if this has been posted before but, I'll post it anyways. I found it on Tron Wiki.

http://screenrant.com/serinda-swan-temptresses-tron-20-rob-6381/
ScreenRant.com reported that an interview with Serinda Swan for TV Guide mentioned that she, along with Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett and another actress will play "temptresses from inside the computer world" for Tron 2. She also mentioned that the costumes that they will be wearing have lights sewn into them to recreate the backlit circuitry effect that Tron is famous for.

Are you reading what I'm reading? This means it'll be PROGRAMS not silly looking people in tight suits that have only one or two glowing Circuitry lines that resemble Assasins!

The latest article at SlashFilm says that the budget isn't as high as $300 million. Not in U.S. or Canadian dollars.

They also have a shot of another extra wearing a program costume, but she's wrapped in a blanket so it's all covered up and we can't really see much.

As suspected, the Vancouver Sun’s report that Tron 2’s budget “carries a whopping $300 million budget” was way overblown. As a company policy, Disney won’t comment on the actual budget numbers, but sources admit that the number is not close to $300 million, even in Canadian dollars.

Link provided as source, but be warned that this site has been noted to host malware. Visit at your own risk.

EDIT: I found alternative versions of the photos used in the article. I also learned that they're shooting right now in an area of downtown Vancouver known as Gastown.

Anyone living in Vancouver recognize the buildings?

Very exciting. The only thing that I'm confused with are the people wearing costumes (assuming it'll be CGI overlaid). I thought programs lived in the digital world, not real world. Currently it suggest some sort of mix to me. I'd rather not want it to be like matrix where the real world turned up to be virtual (I don't see why people compare Tron & Matrix in the first place, as both are a totally diff. concept). Maybe certain programs found a way to teleport to the real world? I'd prefer it the other way around. I also wonder in which timeframe the movie takes place (maybe it takes place in the future, maybe in 2012 or much later), in which case RW costumes would make more sense. I liked the CGI characters like in trailer, and I'd probably like them to stay CGI (esp. in digital world). And that's a funny looking tree btw.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Yes, this is beginning to bother me a bit as well, deadly_cookie. This is the second time we've seen someone in a TRON costume on an outdoor set.

Now, the first time that may have just been the guy on break. He was standing in front of a food services cart. But why is this girl on the set outdoors in costume? Did she just stop by to have a chat with Claudio Miranda? Or was she in a scene?

Something that sets off the warning bells a little is that I know the plot of the cancelled Tron 3.0 game involved the electronic world and the computer world crossing over . . . programs coming into our world.

why would that be so upsetting to you all?

even from the first movie it was within the realm of possibility -- really - what was stopping the mcp from materializing 100 flynns or oranges or anything it had the data for into the real world unless constraints were built in to the digitizing laser system to prevent it?

so long as real world scenes weren't over-used to the point where it was obvious they were running short on their budget...

Unless the Dude is having hallucinations of programs, I don't see why they should be shooting programs in the real world.

Doesn't make any sense. Unless like I said before, he'd have to be having a Trip.

I soon as I post, LOL.

I tend to go with the theories with the laser as well. Say for instance Flynn while being digitized into the computer had a imprint of the MCP encoded into his DNA. Someone would find out and decompile him. On that, who's to say it wouldn't be worse for him to be a hero, only to be a pawn for the MCP later, when he's got everything the MCP needs since Alan/Flynn/Lora wrecked the first attempt.

What's possible with the technology in the film is the things I like to think about..

realm of possibility is nice. we all have imagination, but i'd rather want to movie be consistant, and have principles (it's easier to create cheese, than to prevent it. take Tron logo as an example, which every logo designer envies, no need to change). in my book programs don't wander around in the real world. I can live with it if they do, but I'd be more interested in the Tron world (in which costumes don't apply to). Only Tron guy likes to walk around in costumes, not the average joe like me. I'm the geek type that likes to wander around a Tron world with CGI characters.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

On the topic of the way costumes are designed, why do they need to "re-create" the backlighting effect? The original effect was awesome enough, why not bring it back? lolwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Because seeing Users in the computer world is more exciting and a lot cooler than seeing Programs in the real world?

It's as simple as that, really. The less I see of the real world, the better. I'm buying that theater ticket to see the virtual electronic world of TRON.

Anyhow, it's not upsetting to me, per se. More like, disappointing. If our speculation has any merit, that is.

I think Esotek had a great way of putting it. I don't really want to see TRON turn into Automan, either.

You know, there's a remote possibility that maybe Encom has people dressing up as programs as some kind of marketing scheme to sell their products. Maybe there's a scene where we go inside Encom and there's a presentation with employees dressed up in program costumes.

Remember that Flynn was supposed to have taken what he saw inside the computer, and turned it into a bunch of new games and products that made Encom very successful.

Yeah, I'm just that desperate to find an excuse to explain why actors are appearing on set outdoors, dressed in program costumes. Again, like Esotek said: crossing fingers.

I think they simply decided to have programs in the real world. Not my thing at all, but I have to accept that. It's Hollywood, throw enough money at it (regardless of geniality of original tron concept), have zillion people interefere with the concept/ideas, take it over the top. Remember, true art can only be done by a visionary person, someone like kubrick. I don't mind if they stray off from the original concept, as long as they understand the underlying genius of it (not, how cool would it be if programs exist in real world, which is so straightforward that everybody has thought about it already a million times). Maybe the appearance of programs made Flynn decide to go back, and restore (as he knows where they originate from, contrary to rest of the world). Still I'm not too bothered by it, as long as the virtual world remains intact (to my personal liking). Yes, I'm the visionary/solitude type, then again, noone even touches my level of intellect to begin with.

That's it. The computer world of Tron is what is unique and appealing to me. I just don't want to see another super hero type movie set in the real world. We've had plenty of them recently. Not knocking them, some were really good, but for me the computer world of Tron is what makes it Tron.

That's a pretty good prediction, imo. Not just because I like it but because there's some pretty reliable info out there to back it up.

In TRON 2.0, there's a few emails in the EN12-82 that suggest Flynn was trying to make a Hollywood motion picture out of his events in the computer. While I'm sure that was originally intended as a joke, maybe Disney will build upon it. That'd be neat.
