I mean, granted, she's wrapped up and we can't see her clothing, BUT from what I can see, I note several differences that tell me this extra is not playing a program.

She's not wearing a headband, her boots cut up to the middle of her shins and are a different color, unlike the other program costume. She's probably wearing a short skirt and freezing to death, hence the blanket (note the entire crew in jackets). They're probably trying to make it seem like it's summertime in the film and they have extras in light clothing to make it seem like it's hot out when in reality it's cold Canadian weather.

Honestly, I think we're looking a little too far into these things. The picture is of poor quality and we can't really tell what we're looking at here. I'm honestly hoping this is just some extra...a bad-dressed extra at that.

Are we being overly analytical at this point? You bet. We could be way off, here. But it's fun to speculate.

The thought that maybe the outdoor scenery could be converted to look like inside the computer, had crossed my mind. But it seems like a waste of time and effort to film outside, if they're just going to replace the background anyway. They could be indoors, not affected by weather and other conditions beyond their control that could interrupt the shooting.

But if they were using the background as a reference, to create a reproduction of the scenery that's changed to look like it's inside the computer, then I could see them doing it.

Still, why not just take one-time reference shots and then generate the background based on that, and then digitally composite it with the actors doing bluescreen? Again, it would be simpler to do it that way.

I'm just going to go with the hope that the extra in that photo is someone working at Encom, dressed in a reproduction of a program costume. Now that TRON.dll mentioned it, I forgot about how in Tron 2.0 Flynn said he wanted to make a movie based on his experiences. That, plus the notion that Encom is selling other stuff based on what he saw . . .

For some reason, I see them using full CGI characters in a scene like that (if they do a scene like that). It probably wouldn't be pretty, there was some Disney movie a while ago (Sky High, I think). There was some rock person who was completely CGI. Look at a High School Sophmore's first computer animation and it's likely to be 5 times better.

That scenario was planned (satellites and all) as the next arc of the Tron comic (as the first series laid the groundwork for materialization into the real world).

If you have enough satellites, you could just digitize the world, alter the code of the world, then un-digitize it as something different. You would have a machine that recreates all reality. Which one way or the other, would be the end.
