We had an idea where the son of Alan Bradley and Lora Baines was a programmer at ENCOM.
A protection system the MCP had held in reserve was found in the old files. The son was working with a team that was still dissecting the MCP.
This protection system was a part of the MCP meant to copy and rebuild the MCP in a new place if the primary version failed. The problem was that the MCP never started it before it failed.
When the team accidentally releases the protection system, it has no link to the MCP, so it tries to execute it's design without the main piece it requires and it's sort of crazy. It starts taking over everything and computers are shut down all over the world in minutes.
Alan Bradley reveals that the MCP is actually running on a completely isolated system, the old ENCOM server, down in the basement of the building. The laser is also stored down there.
The only way into the system to restore order is to use the MCP and the laser to break in. They enlist the aid of the MCP and they break in.
The game was intended to be a combination of shooter and puzzles. The final puzzle of the main game was a battle on the "NEW MCP" which was an insane spinning wall of blades that involved jumping and blasting guards and wall points with your disc.
Once you won the game, you turned for the heroic vision of the computer panorama where your tanks, recos, troops and lightcycles were all around and glowing in triumph....until....
Starting from the most distant troops you notice they are all turning RED!!
The MCP helped you get into the system, and it followed you in, taking over everything behind you and gaining control of the system for itself. So instead of being at the end of the game, you are really at the middle. Now you are trapped inside and have to find your way back out of the system while rstoring order to the computer world.
The ending I envisioned was that you get out, and you restore order, but the MCP and it's protection program are alive and well and hiding in the dark recesses of the cyberverse. Waiting for the next game!
I wish I'd gotten to make that game. |
That sounds kinda like Portal, actually...
*****WARNING! SPOILERZ (Although it shouldn't really matter, as that whole game's plot is an internet meme now..)!*****
After completing the final test chamber, you think the game's almost over, until GLaDOS tries to dump you into a fire pit, and you escape. At that point, you are halfway through the game, and the rest of the game consists of you going through the inner workings of the facility and trying to escape using the skills you learned in the testing chambers. |
Yeah, only bad part is that Portal doesn't leaev an opening at the end for a sequel, unless you take "Still Alive" seriously.

| I take you haven't heard that Portal 2 is coming?

Oh really sweet!! But wait, remeber when they anounced a sequel to TRON and made a game instead? Well maybe they said sequel in February and are just releasing "Still Alive"

LOL going back to the topic of hair on programs.. I think it would be kind of cool if the hair looked sort of like Modding luminescent wire OOH! Electro-luminescent polygonal dreads with kind of a light/dark scrolling barcode, moving from the base of the scalp to the tips of the dreads. The barcode on the dreads could be encoded information depending on what the program has been thinking or saying in the last 30 seconds or something, and the brightness of the hair or speed of the scrolling could change dynamically depending on the program's mood, emotions or level of activity heehee maybe the hair could end in latches to act as a data interface to enable upload and download of code to the program Woohoo! If Yori is the love of Tron's runtime, then does that make her his Amiga? Bring back the Boing ball!

Interesting take on it.
For the most part, I don't think hair on programs looks right. At the same time, I really didn't like the bald look used in TRON 2.0. Bald programs look... well, not right either. Bald on the real-world street - ok, but bald programs seem odd, unless they are a representation of a bald user.
Mercury's hair in TRON 2.0 seemed to work, given the program design used on the more modern looking programs. The punk chick's hair kind of worked for me too. Jet's hair did not look right. He should have been helmeted, IMO.
Your take on hair reflecting mood is interesting. My first thought about that is that it could be a cool visualization of programs' moods as they interact. My second thought is would it get distracting really fast if seen all the time?
Facial hair worked on Dumont. Somehow it just fit the character and I bought it without a problem.
Whatever they do, I think that if programs do not have helmets or some kind of head-cover, they should have something representative of hair, but not looking just like regular hair. It should look like something from the digital world, and not just digital hair.
I actually had a dream some time back about a TRON sequel and it really disappointed me (long before any news of TR2N). Many of the design elements weren't right, one of which that stood out like a sore thumb was that all programs were bald. I hated it. I felt like I was watching a digital rehash of THX.
I had a dream about SW Episode I just before it came out. In the dream, I remember being bored and disappointed. There was a scene playing in which many trees or a forest was the setting that I remember from the dream. Then in real life, while watching Episode I, I was reminded of my dream as the film was really disappointing to me.
I sincerely hope TR2N is nothing like I experienced in my dream. Sorry for getting slightly off the topic.
Hair. Digital hair of some kind, or all helmets? Maybe they should just do the cone-head thing. Hey - it worked for Beldar and family.

Greetings, Programs!
I just got back from Siggraph '08 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Well while Disney reps were very very mum on the subject of TR2N a.k.a. "Tron 2",
the new rumor from some people involved and those "in the know" in the CGI and CG Animation industry is that Digital Domain is going to be involved in part with in the creation of CG enviroments and characters for
TR2N.
Representatives for Pixar flatly denied any involvement with "Tron 2" or " TR2N ", saying in a generalised way
"we only do CG Animated character based movies"... So they are claiming no involvement thus far....
Just some food for thought.
End of Line.

Many I attempted to talk to said they couldn't really tell me, or confirm due to having signed a Non-Disclosure Contract...

What this sector needs is a rush from TRON-Crack... (like we had when the CC announcement was made/shown...
Disney (in my viewpoint), wants to secure their intellectual property in every way possible so rumors are all we got for now.
However (this would be dreadful), if they really don't want to invest into the Tron IP in case that they 'think' is won't bring in the dollars, they might try to 'hush' everyone up instead of doing their rightful duty at last min (and I HOPE I'm so very wrong about it)..
I only say this because Disney is as weird as Boy George on horseback... Really weird company (they even gave Don Bluth and Garry Goldman the cold shoulder).
I wished Walt was still with us... |

As long as I've known, Disney has always been wierd. Denying obviously successful movies (and other stuff). Removing the TR2N trailer from youtube (honestly, if they don't want people to see it, why release it?), et cetera. sigh... so self-centered with so much potential...

Pixar's statement is, in the words of GLaDOS (I need to take a break from Portal, lol) "an outright fabrication". There was a good 10-15 minutes of live action throughout that whole movie.

Only one thing outside of the production clip that really gave me a lot of hope was this statement...
"No more information will be released until next year when it's close to the movie's release date." (not quoted word for word as you can tell).....
Anyways... I just want to say to the fellow that made that statement:
"Thank you for once again helping us help you help us help everyone."
... and...
"Remember the Disney Studios 'Bring Your Daughter to Work' day is the perfect time to have her tested."
lol..... (I too play way too much Portal)... lol

Hmm, looks like Kosinski's worked with these guys a few times before. They did the digital work on the Starry Night commercial (Halo) and the Gears of War commercial. With their work on Transformers and Titanic, I'd think it's safe to say they can handle themselves in the CG department. Plus, they've done work for Disney productions before as well (Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End).order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Hopefully, we can get ILM in here as well.
ILM being Industrial Light and Magic. TRON was their first real movie I think.

ILM is heavilty involved with these:
Iron Man 2, Night at the Museum 2, , Captain America (maybe), Star Trek (the new film by J.J. Abrams), and some other films.
There's no word, not even rumors of them being involved with TR2N for right now.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill
