very nice disc. I was going to suggest making a circuit image in photoshop, and using it as a mask. I use this method sometimes for things like glowing windows on a spaceship. However I am also trying to make a convincing TRON figure myself, and my first version was to select the parts I wanted to glow and add the material to those regions. But as you say this is not ideal. My latest version is to apply the glow to the whole figure and then the masking map (white with the crcuit drawn in black) and masking the black areas out.

It looks like you are way ahead of me on this though, so maybe I should be asking you!!!

good luck and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks Ed. Im starting the biped as I type. When I have something "skinable" ill post it here

I got the tank model into Dedit/TRON 2.0...

shading and surface lighting effects suffer but it still looks pretty good. polygon wise it pretty huge but whatever it looks good. I think way better then the tank model from the game. I'm standing on a datablock thats why the tank looks so micro.

A few more updates. Here is a couple of images of work in progress. I will be offline for a little while, but next time I post I should have a coherent set of images. I guess I should start a new thread, but it was very nice of 'sketch' to start this one with my name on it, and now my friends think I am famous!!!

That is a very nice looking MCP, Mr Keefe!

In the film, didn't the area around the MCP have a load of crevasses? Just thought I'd point that out, although I'm sure you already knew.

hey ed have you taken a look at meatsakck project..?

weve been trying to rally talened 3d guys to do a 5 minute trailer for a movie script to generate interests!

I've been trying to rally you 3d guys to create some concept scene etc...

One thing I have noticed is no one has tried to recreate the actual characters like a Jet CGI or like the actual old school people renders from the movie.. i think this is like the only thing we havent done yet.. black white greyscale with glowy effects using real people? Can this be done and would you like to join in??

I did some playing with the two tank perspective shots I posted on page 8 of this thread so I thought I'd post these two images here.

I took a little creative license with the flash effect. It's not at all like what's seen in the movie but I wanted to put those vents on the side to use.

Enjoy,

Grid I'm currently working on a biped but this is my weak area of modeling (organic shapes) so its gonna take a while. Once I have a model im happy with ill post it here. When I get it rigged for animation Ill share the biped file so other animators can play with it
