Corpse Bride

on Saturday, September, 24, 2005 9:30 PM
The definition of animation is "the process of bringing something to life." Corpse Bride lives up to that definition and shows what quality animation can be. I loved every moment of this dark and errie flick. The characters moved so gracefully allowing you to read and feel their emotions on so many levels. You forget your watching stop motion characters for the shear animation craftsman ship. The German Expressionistic theme that Tim Burton is famous for is so dark and wonderfully errie and inviting in this flick. Danny Elfman did a great job with the music. This film is just awe inspiring and a pure thing of beauty to behold on the silverscreen. It's great to see a film that takes a nice look at dying.

Two corpse thumbs up.

When this movie hits the shelves on dvd, I want it to reside snuggly next my Nightmare Before Christmas dvd.

Go and see this awsome flick. You know your dying too.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

I'm disappointed Henry Selick did not direct this one. I feel he brought alot to Nightmare that he is not give credit for.

Still, I'll see it eventually.

Wow, dissapointing take for the weekend. #2 behind Jody Foster's new "film" and just over 20 million. I don't think WB is too happy with that.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

I saw it this weekend. I was VERY happy with the film as I think any Tim Burton/Danny Elfman fan would be.

I have some issues with the songs, being that I don't think they were up to the Elfman "par", but oddly enough, I think the score music is the best Danny has put out in a long time.

It's very different than the Nightmare Before Christmas and I think that's a good thing.

The art direction (the living world is all in dull grays, whereas the dead world is in vibrant colors) is wonderful.
The voice direction is also well done (Johnny Depp is not over the top, and you would not know it was even him!!)

But.... to be honest.......
There were a lot of old Oingo Boingo references in this film which made me like it even more. Danny did sing, basically, a Mystic Knights song with "Remains Of The Day". So , yeah, this may not be for everyone.

However, remember that NMBC was also a box office failure and now a Disney triumph!

There's hope for WB yet!!!

Different director, so it's not to surprising. I'm curious how much direct input Burton had on this project, as his involvement with "Nightmare" seemed somewhat detached to me.

Then maybe I won't see it. LOL ~
Two things I hate: movies that are too short and movies that don't end the way they should.

Not to be a jerk, Dave, but why do you insist on pointing out that this film is not doing well at the box office? You of all people should know by now that a good film doesn't mean it's going to do well with the general public.

This is a VERY good movie despite how much money it's making. Maybe if there were more boobs, off color jokes, and explosions it would have been more "successful".

I am pointing it out because I am amazed. It's such a work of art, and considering the growth in popularity that TNBC has seen since it was released, it's really a shame. This movie should be bigger.

Perhaps I didn't make that point clear.......ya big jerk.

My wife and I just saw it last night and we really liked it.

BTW, anybody notice the the piano manufacturer's nameplate?

It's Harryhausen!

I thought it was a great tip o' the hat to the king of stop motion, and it got a lot of screentime, so you know they were really trying to pay the man some tribute.

Sketch,

Nice new avatar! Kinda has a Westworld feel to it.

Speaking of Westworld, I found something the other day while surfing the web for info on classic sci-fi flicks that ought to be of some interest to TRON-SECTOR members:

The first use of computer digitized images as part of a feature film (not merely monitor graphics) was the Gunslinger's point of view in Westworld. After the process was finally developed enough to produce satisfactory results, it took a mere eight hours to produce each ten seconds of Gunslinger's pixellated POV.

Westworld was released in 1973, way before either TRON or The Last Starfighter, so if this statement is true then we may have a new contender for the 'First Use of Computer Graphics in a Movie For Something Other Than a Monitor' throne.

P.S.: OK, so I did a little more looking and it seems that Westworld had the first 2D CG and its sequel, Futureworld, had the first 3D CG.

Well, I was a little disappointed. Not in the animation--that was gorgeous, but I felt the movie was just a bit slow. I was actually suprised when it was over and only an hour and 15 minutes had passed!

**SPOILER ALERT**

I also thought it was odd when Victor immediatley dumps Victoria for Emily (I mean...willing to die to marry her) and then when Victoria shows up again, he's all in love with her. I know it was more about Emily's change of heart, but still. I was like, sheesh. Victor's a little shallow there. And I know he wasn't meant to be written that way. Oh, well.

The ending was quite beautiful. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Here's my take on it:

Victor was despondent when he found out that Victoria was marrying another man. He basically said "F*** it" and pretty much gave into suicide and death at that point.

and then when Victoria shows up again, he's all in love with her.

He was always in "love" with her, in a manner of speaking. His “conversion” to loving her in the beginning seemed a little quick, but hey, at $1,000 a frame (or whatever) I’m sure they had to drive the storyline along

Victor's a little shallow there.

Actually Victor, to me, seemed a little flat throughout the whole film. It seemed to me that the story was not really about Victor at all, even though he's touted as a major character. It's more about Emily than anything else, like you said.

Well, Victor knew Victoria had been married to that guy who's name I forget... the huge chin guy... so I guess he figured since she was unavailable to him he might as well marry Emily.

Yes, he had to die in order to marry Emily and that seems a bit too far-fetched... at first. Remember that from what he'd seen the afterlife was more colorful, lively, and fun than the life he had known. You almost couldn't blame the guy.

Plus, for a corpse, Emily wasn't half bad. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion
