Can we assume that Flynn didn't bring any other program over from the old grid except Tron? And he forsook his old helm.

I liked the helmets in the old movie but I think they replaced it with creative haircuts in Tron: Legacy. I don't know how the new movie would have looked with everybody wearing unusual helmets. It kind of worked for Rinzler but that was to hide his face.

Well there is an extra feature on the Bluray of Tron Legacy that basically says the only reason they had helms was because they couldn't get hair to work with the effects at the time. But the disc wars version looked like an upgrade of the original helm, but yeah it would have been good to see one appear in the EOL club.

ARGH This is hard.
I love the old helmets, They make me immediately think of sort of techno-gladiator. If there wasn't any circuits on them, they would remind me of the guys from Smash TV, akin to a running man future gladiator look . . . What I do like about the Grid helmet from Legacy is that it covers the face and it sports more of a functionality . . .
If I HAD to pick, the original wins.

Agreed, sorta (where is that pic that a TS member modified of Sam and Quorra in Flynns hideout with the extra circuitry), but I would have liked to have seen an old program with the style. Commander Keen... I love that game. I purchased it from Steam back in December. I remember it back in the early 90s. That, Dark Forces, System Shock and X-Wing ate up quite a bit of my time back then. And another 10ish year earlier, it was Parsec and Hunt the Wumpus. I hope we all don't forget where we came from on our march to the future.
I like the arena helmets of Tron Legacy but none of the others. I like the helmets from the original, but that's more because of nostalgic reasons. It would be great if there was an "older part of town" on the Encom servers in the next movie. Kind of like in Tron 2.0. An old server or emulated older server with some important data.
At any rate, if I had to choose, I'd go with the newer arena helmets, especially if they added more circuitry.
