Okay, here is another piece of the backstory.

"No, you're putting too much weight on your left leg." Spark paused mid-kata as Tron shook his head, pulling his blade away from her disks. "All I have to do to knock you off-balance is - this!" Tron stepped forward, put his hand on Spark's right shoulder and pushed lightly. Sure enough, Spark was knocked off-balance and the young User tumbled to the ground. "Oof!" Spark froze as she felt the sharp point of Tron's blade under her chin. Tron held it there for a moment, then reached down and pulled Spark to her feet. "This would be so much easier if I could just download it," Spark sighed.

Tron smiled at her. "Indeed. But I wouldn't get the unique opportunity to teach you. Now, let's go through it again." Spark took a deep breath and got into position, disks whirring as they powered up. "Step back. Left disk down. Right disk up to intercept mine -" the blue-white disk clashed hard against Tron's blade, sparks flying as the two weapons crashed together. "Good, you're balanced. Now catch the blade on the disk and-"

"Tron! Spark!" Flynn's voice knocked Spark off-balance again and only Tron's quick action saved her from impaling herself on the security program's weapon. As it was, the blade scraped along her upper arm as she stumbled away. "Ouch!" she yelped, dropping one disk and clapping her hand to the wound. "Flynn, why did you do that?" Tron asked, moving to look at the cut. It was fairly deep, but not serious. "You should know better than to interrupt when we're sparring. Spark could have been seriously injured. This is-" Tron stopped mid-sentence, staring at Flynn. The security program's thoughts ran parallel to Spark's, but she was the one who voiced them. "Flynn, since when are there two of you?"

Flynn laughed, and brought his look-alike forward. "Tron, Spark, this is my Codified Likeness Utility. Clu, this is Tron and Spark. Clu is a system administration program. He'll take care of the place when I'm not around. Spark, let me see your arm." Spark walked over to Flynn, giving Clu a nod as she passed, and derezzed the left arm and shoulder of her suit. Flynn hissed in sympathy and created a bandage. Spark grimaced, but made no noise as Flynn bandaged the wound. "I could try the disk if you want," he said softly. Spark shook her head. "Not with this. And not with you so tired." Her voice was just as soft. Flynn raised his eyebrows, and she shook her head again, a fond smile on her face. "Don't give me that look, Flynn. I know you. Creating that one -" she jerked her head at Clu, who was talking with Tron, "- took more out of you than you will admit. Go get some sleep. I'll wake you when it's time to head for the portal."

Spark rezzed her sleeve back into place and gave Flynn a gentle shove towards the place where his light-cycle was parked. Flynn threw up his hands in defeat and jogged back to his cycle. Spark watched him drive away before turning to face the other two. Clu was holding Tron's weapon, closely examining the drops of red liquid smoothed along the blade's edge. "Yes, that's blood," Spark said cheerfully, bending to retrieve the disk she'd dropped earlier. "We Users bleed when we're injured. We don't derezz." Clu handed the weapon back to Tron. "Flynn told me about both of you," the admin program said. "He said you would 'show me the ropes' or something. I do not understand many of the words Flynn uses. Are ropes important?"

Spark laughed and shook her head. "He didn't mean it literally. It's an idiom. To 'show someone the ropes' is to show them around, get them familiar with the area and the tasks. In other words, Flynn wants us to give you a tour. To show you the system and help you get settled. We might as well start here. Tron, why don't you go ahead? This place is your element, after all." Tron nodded, a little self-consciously, and began to explain the arena's functions, pointing out various features. Spark let the security program take the lead, leaving her to her thoughts. Hmm...what will this mean? she wondered. A system-admin will be good, but I'd like to know a bit more about him. I'll ask Flynn on the way to the portal. Spark looked up at Tron's shout of her name. The two programs were already astride their light-cycles, and they appeared to be waiting for her. "I'm coming!" she called, rezzing in her own cycle and racing to catch up.

There you have it. Spark's first meeting with Clu. What do you think?

Alan: *walks into the arcade, confused, goes up-stairs, sees Flynn passed out on the couch* "What the...?" *looks down at the pager then back at Flynn* "Flynn?"

Flynn: *jerks awake* "Wha-Alan! What are you doing here?"

Alan: *holds up the pager* "You tell me. I got a page to come here and it said urgent. Are you alright?"

Something like that. Oh, since for the time-being it will only be Flynn, Spark, Tron, and Yori(as main characters) in the '82 grid, would you like to write Tron's return? I have to write Spark and Yori, so if you write Flynn and Tron, that would work.

Well, no I can't do 160 seconds, but will 20 minutes do? That's about a milli-cycle. After Tron arrives, Spark will page Flynn...and for some reason, he won't respond(said reason is up to you), so she pages Alan and hopes he can do something. I kind of want an opportunity to have her rant at Flynn for making her worry about him. Can we work that in later?

So you want me to write the entirety of the on-'82-Grid scenes? Okay, I can do that, it'll just take a bit of work. But there can be interaction between on-Grid(Spark, Tron, etc.) and off-Grid(Flynn), can't there? Flynn typing messages to Spark and such. And won't Flynn be kinda worried about Tron? When he and Clu left for the portal, Tron wasn't doing too well.

Well, what I was thinking is that Spark will page Alan /after/ Flynn doesn't respond to his own pager. Calling Alan's pager directly is a last resort. If we can't come up with another reason for him not responding, we could always take the simple 'the battery died' approach.

And of course Flynn's gonna be worried about Tron ... he's gonna wanna try to fix him, and has to do so without Alan's help on that, (because trying to keep it canon there) which is why he would try to reach Spark on-Grid.

But Flynn, of course, won't accept it until later. Maybe after he sees that she isn't aging or something. I don't know.

Spark turned, staring in horror at the two figures who stumbled towards her out of the collapsing building. She ran to them. Yori was staggering forward, dragging an unconscious ISO along. Spark's eyes swept over Yori's wounds, even as the User helped take the ISO's weight, easing the programs to the ground. "Sh-she's the only one I could find..." Yori coughed. "T-take care of her, Spark...." Spark nodded, trying to stop Yori's code from decaying further. "Dammit, I can't stop it! We have to get you to Flynn! He'll be able to-" Yori's soft voice stopped her frantic attempts. "N-no. I-it's too l-late for m-me. Spark..." The User looked into the program's eyes. "Yeah?"

"T-take care of h-her," Yori motioned to the unconscious ISO, then looked back at Spark. "And f-find h-him, if you c-can. T-tell him...tell him I love him..." Spark nodded. There was no need to say which 'him' Yori spoke of. "I will, Yori," she whispered. "I promise I'll find him and tell him." Yori smiled and pressed something into Spark's hands. Tears streamed down Spark's face as the program dissolved into pixels which fell through her fingers. Spark looked at the object Yori had given her. A glowing crystal-like piece of code hung on a cord. Spark put the cord around her neck and slipped the crystal under her shirt. It felt warm against her skin. Alive.

Spark turned to look at the unconscious ISO. She might be the only one left now, the User thought. Except for Quorra. And I don't even know her name. Spark sighed, gripped the program's arm firmly, and slung her into a sort of fireman's carry. Then she set off for 'home'. It was a good thing that there were a few short-cuts to her dwelling, or she would never have been able to make it. The ISO didn't weigh very much, but Spark was weighed down by wounds both physical and emotional.

Spark laid the unconscious program on her bed and went to get some power. The ISO would need it when she woke up. Setting one flask down on the night-table, Spark flopped into the chair by the bed. She drank the energy from the other flask slowly, staring moodily at the sleeping form. "What the hell do I do now?" she whispered. "I promised Yori I'd take care of you, but aside from keeping you out of Clu's reach, I have no idea of what that entails." She swallowed the last of the energy. "Guess we'll get to that when you wake up, huh?" Predictably, unconscious ISO didn't answer.

Spark's thoughts turned to Yori, and tears filled her eyes again. Grief and anger warred within her. Anger at Clu for causing this. Anger at Flynn for not trying harder to stop it. Anger at herself for not being able to help. Why? Why? There was no answer. No satisfactory answer, at any rate.

(hey, as a quick side-bar..... I know my posts here are sometimes more like fics. Many times in several RP's I've tried and tried to write in shorter RP form, and I just can't get with it. With every action I feel like I need to delve into what my character's feeling, what's going on around him, to express that, to make it visual like you're watching it onscreen, like you're experiencing the character's emotions or seeing them unfold on his face, you know? Because that's the way I'm visualizing it in my head at the time of writing it, ... it's like being there. Which, I can almost never write in very short form. That's my limitation I guess. But, that's not to say that it should affect others who do write in the shorter form, because both are equally good and very workable in RP)
