Okay so I thought at first glance-and every glance since-that Quorra's sword was a bit of a msyery. Was it an actual blade with a line of lighting down the side? Or was it a light saber, which would make it an unpardonably bad-taste copy of a weapon from a certain other movie series which rhymes with War Sars.
But after seeing a Japanese TL poster which features Quorra holding her sword, it is more apparent from this clearer view of the sword that it is indeed a tanto bladed-type much like a samurai sword and which has a line of light going down the shank. It is fitting that this ad, destined for the Japanese market in which the tanto samurai blade was created in the time of antiquity, would show the blade much more clearly. This also indicated that the sword in fact has material prop[erties and is not made up solely of energy or light.Okay mystery seemingly solved. Since we didn't actually see the sword dispatch any enemies, it can be assumed that they would have been derezzed as a result of having been cut through with it. I feel that's a reasonable assumption anyhow. It is said that Olivia asked for Quorra to have a sword, so they wrote one into being and equipped her with it just like that during the screenplay development phase of the production.
It would have been WAY cool to have that sword leave behind it in the air a swoosh of of a blade-width ribbon of light as with the light cycles and jets, to better block and confuse the advances of an enemy and even destroy them if they touched it.

Yeah, but when she confronts Clu on the catwalk at the portal, she forms the sword. Most evidence is that the weapons are formed from the same sorts of Batons using the energy and code of the user. It's the same baton as the light cycles, light fighters, and black guard weapons are made from.
The katana is like a light saber, but honestly, it's kinda "exclusivist" to assume that Star Wars from 1979 has exclusive rights to any and all weapons made of light/fire/energy/plasma for all of eternity. There are some old 1930s serials with humanoid robots like C3PO, and energy sword type weapons.
Light katanas from T:L are simply not the same sort of weapon as a light saber. They don't do the same sort of damage, they don't look the same. But yes, there no blade unless the program creates it.
Quorra's blade is more like a Wakizashi. Tantos are very short in comparison. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

How's that subscription to an unrealistically named magazine that fits the context of this post stating that the entirety of that remark was completely uncalled for working out for you?
On topic: I've always assumed that the sword was made from the same material as the light cycles' trails. Considering the light trails come out of the lightcycle (which is in-turn produced by the baton), I think it makes sense to say that the baton is capable of producing such a material.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

i think the point was an energy based blade in Tron doesn't work the same as one in star wars, otherwise we would have seen a derezzing arm hit the floor of the mos eisley cantina.

Its basically a katana with a line of light on the side of it. The whole blade is not made up of light despite how it had appeared in the movie (end of line club where the blackguards formed their weapons that look like dual edge lightsabers).

Good point. The picture from the Tron Wiki also makes it look sort of like a lightsaber (to an extent):
I think my theory was based on the swords included with the toys being made out of the same material as the Forming Lightcycle in the Sam/Forming Lightcycle pack. See:
http://as7.disneystore.com/is/image/DisneyShopping/201734?$full$http://www.parrygamepreserve.com/images/toys/spinMaster/tron/exclusives/formingLightCycle/formingLightCycle1_M.jpg
In all fairness, the "action trails" that hold the characters up in the air are also made of this material. Still an interesting theory, nonetheless.

Seriously. I noticed a lot of things in the screenshots that there's just no time for in the movie (without freezing it, which is sort of hard to do in the theater).

I tried to find more, better pics, but alas, that site just didn't have them. Most of the others I've seen are edge-on, which doesn't prove anything, of course. It's too bad there isn't one of the side of it without it being in blurry motion.

I'll give you credit for an attempt at sarcasm even though it wasn't a very good one (hint: don't try the same thing twice in a row. It's only effective once, and then it starts to look like you've got nothing else in your bag of tricks).
I won't give you credit for an attempt to backpedal because you didn't do a very good job of that either. Did you totally miss the part where you attacked him first? Or was that also a "compliment"? Nor for the part where you seem to conveniently forget about past behavior. But yeah, you're right, go ahead and say what you want. I've got better things to do than argue with someone who sucks at it anyway and pull another thread off-topic while you make sorry attempts to defend yourself when called out on your own behavior.
Carry on, folks. I got nothing more because he doesn't "get" it anyway. What do you want? I'm busy.

I say: I only did the magazine thing once.

I say: Attacked who? First that guy did the magazine thing, then TRON.dll did it to him, then I said good job to TRON.dll
Or was that also a "compliment"?
I say: The "compliment" was for TRON.dll
Nor for the part where you seem to conveniently forget about past behavior.
I say: I never said I forgot. I am sorry for that. Get your head out of the past and live in the now and then. That is the only thing that matters.
But yeah, you're right, go ahead and say what you want. I've got better things to do than argue with someone who sucks at it anyway
I say: What? I suck at arguing? I dont want to get banned arguing with someone who sucks at getting who said what right and remembers everything. If I wanted to I could argue the hair off everyone in the parliament but I wont here.
and pull another thread off-topic while you make sorry attempts to defend yourself when called out on your own behavior.
I say: If I was really called out I would respect that. But your rambling about kettles and pots is just a spew of nothing. And who is pulling it off topic?

Kat did not say you like to report everything.
she said "I suppose you'd like to report it. So why tell us? Tell the mods and get it over with."
why would you twist the words around?
why would you accuse others of thinking that you like to report everything?
it sounds suspiciously like projection.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection.
Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people. Thus, projection involves imagining or projecting the belief that others originate those feelings.
