I wonder what the limitations of the baton are. We know they can be used to rezz up a sword, staff, lightcycle or lightjet. What about one of those car-like vehicles, a tank or a recognizer?
Could Clu derezz the Rectifier and re-rezz it using his baton? Why or why not...?abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

The only real liability here is looking like some sort of child predator, or perhaps cyber-stalking/cyber-bullying. Nobody knew Trekking was a minor until you made a point of making it known to the world.

I wouldn't think so. Many of the sources describe persistent machines that do not derezz when the program disembarks. Flynn's cycle is the best known one. We presumably see pilotless recognizers, tanks, and light jets inside the rectifier. it might be safe to assume that Rinzler's Recognizer didn't derezz when he was tracking Sam, Kevin, and Quorra in the sub-sub-sub-basement.
Of course, those would all require energy and code to create in the first place. So they had to be rezzed up at some point. My guess is that it requires something other than a baton to create and maintain one of those. It likely requires some facilities that we never saw in Legacy. Maybe something akin to the "hangar" where the original Solar Sailer was rezzed-up in TRON...?

Thats what I thought about him. And I am not that much of a "minor". Your not going to treat me like he did now that you know I am younger, are you? Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

I have no intention of doing so. Frankly, I think it is silly that it came up at all. This isn't kindergarten. Last time I checked, there's no minimum age for getting on the internet.
This is not Facebook, it's a Tron Forum. There's nothing in the forum rules about age. Just not SHOUTING or backseat moderating.

So. What is your opinion on how the batons work?

My opinion? Well I think it is like a lightsaber as there is no core before the blade forms. Thanks to FlynnOne for the signature!

you know what- trekking95 age deception was plain
early on
his obsession with confrontations is also plain
as day.
my suggestion on placing him in a "considerable allowances
group" prevents him and any others of his "age deception ilk" from
indulging in confrontations.
(it protects us and him) and informs adults to address
him a non-confrontational manner
his insistence on being in an age group of 15-20 means
young enough to be considered a minor but old enough
to indulge in volatile adult confrontations.
it means after baiting adults into heated confrontations
he can jump to the 15 yr age and complain of bullying
(obvious enough that the whole point of the exercise is to
put members in a bad light)
if it is being suggested that we turn a blind eye and
give free reign to such blatant manipulation just to indulge
a personality that has found a loophole,
then see you in the next reality tron sector.
i sincerely hope this phenomenon is not a trend. i'm not
staying here to find out.

Actually, there is. It's called COPPA. There are laws about the age you can start collecting information from users at (inc. email addresses, which are required for most message board registrations)...which is 13. Irrelevant in this situation, but it does exist and there could be legal trouble if, say, an 8-year-old was allowed to join up here (which is why I advised LWSRocks multiple times to stop advertising his age all over the site). There's also the age at which certain subjects or discussions are appropriate, but that is where parenting ought to come into play (it usually doesn't happen and the onus often falls on a site and/or its users, but in theory parents ought to vet what their kids are seeing and make a decision about whether the kid ought to be seeing it).

I always considered that those might be a bit more durable/robust than those constructed on the fly (sometimes literally!) from the baton. And, in addition, that they might work/feel a bit differently, since they aren't *created from* the program using them (I think I mentioned that earlier), What do you want? I'm busy.
Program, please!
Chaos.... good news. |
