New Tron 3 Writer Hired

on Wednesday, June, 08, 2011 9:08 AM
The Hollywood Reporter announced that David DiGilio has been hired to write the script for Tron 3. He is replacing Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who were pulled from the project to work further on "Once Upon a Time", a fantasy show they created for ABC that is debuting in the fall.

DiGilio came from Disney's internal writer development program and previously wrote the film "Eight Below" for the studio and was also the creator of the terrorism thriller series "Traveler".

Here's hoping everything works out! We need a third chapter!

I would be so bummed if Tron's fate was to just lay at the bottom of the Sea of Simulation forever because we never got a third film. Or to never find out what happens with Quorra...order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I just hope this guy understands how the computer world works.

I'm not saying anything bad about him as a writer (yet) I just hope Disney or Liseberger checked to see if he got it.

Sounds like he has some promise now, but I meant Tron's depiction of the inside of the computer (the original's depiction anyway).

This can't be good....
I hope at least Kosinski returns for Tron 3. He must.
His work was not the reason why the film recieved mixed critics and bombed at the box office. (400m$ is not a good result for Disney!)

It was the writers fault. But even they did a great job after watching it 2 times on DVD now.
The 3D imaginery in theatres just surpressed the way-above-average-quality of the script. If you watch Legacy at home, you notice the story is better than remembered and the weak moments in Flynns hiding hole are not as weak as in theatres.

I hope this new guy knows what he does and has experience in the TRON universe.

When you watch the DVD extras you can see how much effort Kosinski puts into designing all stages and the CGI grid. Kosinski is a genius in art and architecture. He is a good director and he really cares about the mixed critics. That is good! He is someone who wants to learn from his faults.

If Tron loses him as the director, it loses the great architecture Legacy had. And maybe it loses the fight against bad critics and bad sales.

I think this is going to be a good thing for the Tron franchise. diMaggio can use Tron 3 as a tool to tie up the story threads left in the second movie... Because we all know how well Kitsis and Horowitz are at doing that. (Lost, anybody?)

Ok, point goes to you. I stopped watching LOST after Season 3 because everyone said, it is getting worse and the finale of Season 3 is the best.

Well... maybe you are right. However, then Mr. new writer has to get completely into the TRON universe. In fact, he has to be a fan of TRON like Kosinski and the other staff members were.

On the other hand, it can be an advantage to not be that involed into TRON and TRON Legacy before. So maybe he sees those story breaks and plot holes better than Adam would see it.

Losing Kosinski can be a bigger punch to the production.
I am very happy that Joe is aware of the fact that people want to see Bridges and Boxleitner back in action. In the GRID and maybe in the real world. He is aware that both of them are not totally dead, which is good. Otherwise you can give Tron 3 a totally different name.

And he is aware of the mixed critics.

So, maybe the new writer can be a big plus to the storyline. However, let's prey Kosinski will direct again.

I was a big Lost fan until it seemed the writers were smokin' while coming up with innane plot lines that were never answered.

I guess I'm a tradionalist that says, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. I loved T:L and don't want an outsider to come with new ideas unless those ideas fit in with the previous film. I felt the writers if T:L paid homage to the first Tron enough to please me.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Ok, as for now, Tron 3 won't be in production before the end of 2013.

http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=oblivion.htm

At least not until July 2013. Thats the recently announced Oblivion release date.
So making the film will take about 2-3 years. That's 2016 for Tron 3. I hope Boxleitner and Bridges will still be in business then...

I read an article last night that was talking about the new writer that was hired to write the script for Tron 3. While I'll give respect to the two guys who wrote Tron: Legacy, especially for tieing it in nicely to TRON, there were some script details that I didn't like about Tron: Legacy, and I stopped watching, "Lost" after the 2nd or 3rd season, as IMHO, "Lost" should have been FOUND long before now, LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

David DiGilio, from what I've heard, is a really good writer, and as long as Lisberger is involved, I have some hope that Tron 3 will be a good addition to the Troniverse, much like T:L is. I'm looking forward to seeing some Flynn vs. Dillinger action going on, and can't wait to see what Jr. has cooked up to complicate Sam Flynn's tenure as the new head of ENCOM.

I ordered "Daemon". Sounds interesting. Maybe Tron will go through different directors or producers (whichever) like Harry Potter did. Each one put their own little spin on it, and they all came out fine.

For as visual as Tron is, I wonder if Disney would allow other media like novels to be written, or more comics and video games. Those wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to create (compared to a movie) and could keep the franchise going.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I think Kosinski should definitely still be involved, especially from the visual standpoint - he's one hell of a visual stylist, and designer, and for his first effort I give him plenty of props. I've heard that Kitsis and Horowitz were busy working on a TV series that doesn't leave them any time to write for TRON 3. My dream configuration would be this:

Steven Lisberger: Exec. Producer
Joe Kosinski: Director
DiGilio: Writer

If by some chance they can't get Kosinski back, then what about David Fincher? He actually helped out on Tron: Legacy.

I'm looking forward to it.

I've read "Daemon", it's a great book! It's also kinda scary in how realistic it is and the real possibility of something happening as described in the book.

As far as another TRON film is concerned, I'm just waiting with cautious optimism. I hope the project moves forward and ends up being an "Avatar-crushing" success! (Okay, maybe that's a little TOO optimistic...but hey, it could happen! LOL!)order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

So let's sum up again.
What should be the main aspects of the new script, if it will be made:

1. Story between Quorra and Sam
2. TRON revival
3. Dillinger / Flynn duelling somehow (maybe on the grid!)
4. Kevin Flynn revival

5. and most important aspect: More emotions and heart!

T:L is a brilliant movie but I have to admit, it lacks some "warm" character emotions.

I hope the new writer and Kosinski will take some of those aspects into the new script and make it better or more complex or more emotional than T:L. Not only to satisfy that DAMN top critics who underrated this movie so bad with a 22% on rotten which were one major reason for the not-so-good box office run. With better critics (and better scripts for the characters), the film might have reached 500mn. Just a guess.

I mean, they cannot push the Bridges and Boxleitner storylines to a 4th movie. In 2016 - the earliest date TRON 3 hits theatres, both of them are nearly 70. They need to end / revive those two main characters in the third movie. There is no other opportunity.

So, to all of those who read Daemon (I can't because it is not available in german): Does it have good characters and how good is the overall story and "script"? And how do you think, he will influence the third TRON movie, regarding his style and level of detail??

Only Disney post "Pixar merger" would think $400 million is a poor run.

With Lisberger acting as the "George Lucas" of Tron, I think different writers and directors can be a good thing. It seemed to work for the OT of Star Wars. And with the hints at some of the possible returning characters grouped with the Encom servers, I'm more excited for this next film than Legacy.

One problem Legacy and Tron 2.0 suffered from is no or not enough of Tron in Tron. Rinzler doesn't count, since Tron wasn't really himself. It was just a clever way of saying, "Tron is in this film.", but as, completely, someone else. Actually, Clu wasn't himself at all ether. Now that I think of it, was any of the returning characters the same as the original Tron?... Maybe this was a reboot.... Sneaky.

"Clu" was Clu 2.0, more of an AI than a program.
