It was a response of bewildered amazement, that I was at a loss for words/or so tired of what seems like to me to be pointless bitching/whining within a certain post in this thread. Seriously though, if we find out that Tron isn't really Tron in T:L, I'll be pissed. They're already retconning enough with this series--T:L seems to me to make it pretty clear that Clu captures Tron right where Flynn says he did--in the betrayal flashback scene. After all, why on earth would Tron need to "pass the torch"? It's not like he's a human who would be getting old and creaky and NEEDS to train up someone else a la Anthony Hopkins in the Zorro movie, or has any reason to want to retire a la the Dread Pirate Roberts. The only thing that worries me is that I hope they don't start screwing around with the timeline.
Seeing how it's been established that it takes place BEFORE Legacy, I hope it doesn't come into conflict with Evolution.

Still going to watch it though!

I don't understand why there is so much butthurt over "THE NEXT TRON". SO much hate towards one line, that *ahem* certain people can't even transcribe the two lines in that whole preview without intentionally adding words like "derr her herr" to make it sound stupid. It's obviously just a figure of speech. He's not training somebody to replace him, he's training someone to be as good as him. Tron was amazing at his job, so kickass that they named the whole frakking city after him. Tron sees potential in Beck- I.E., Beck is a security program with inferior code, and Tron is trying to improve Beck's skills so one day he can achieve as legendary a status as Tron has.

And you say that programs should not be able to teach other programs because they are programmed/coded all of their knowledge? You're basically saying, "A whole universe inside a computer? That doesn't push against my suspension of disbelief at all- but a program trying to teach another program!? POPPYCOCK!
