I'm happy to hear rumors of a Tron 3. However, what would the story be? I know Sam and Quorra escaped the Grid before its destruction. CLU managed to kill just about all the main programs that brought life to the Grid. Rinzler was redeemed as Tron only to sink and drown in a sea of eternity. CLU and Kevin are gone too. Sam shut down the Grid and everything in it. Would a new movie have to create a new Grid? New programs? Writers will have to be careful in trying to outdo the two previous films because that is usually the recipe for a bad screenplay and movie. One of the beautiful things about Tron:Legacy is that it was a continuation of the classic film with Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprising their roles and we get a new hero Sam. If Tron 3 is composed all new characters with little or no ties to the original Tron, it may disappoint the fans and everyone else. LOL my question exactly (see my thread below). It's like the movie makers want to bridge the films but let new people take over. However, this film was like a part two in a trilogy (dare I wish?), and rumours abound that the Dillngers will be our next villains. Was Jet Bradley in the beginning of T:L? Did Sam tell Alan to meet Jet at Encom? My sound system is so bad, I can't really tell what he said, so do correct me. I just can't believe the Grid is gone for good.

There is plenty of room for a sequel in fact, allot of things that need to be explain as well. Sam Flynn transferred everything over before he shut off the machine. Amongst other things such as Tron changing colors. Sam and Quorra ride off along the sunrise instead of sunset. Which leads to the fact of a new day or continuation of the two together during that day. Which hopefully will show Sam and Quorra on the bike in Tron 3 and that will be close to the start in for Tron 3 where Tron Legacy left off. Kevin Flynn is really going to be up to the writers creativity. From the sound of it. Yori looks to be back in on the next go around. Does she bring back Kevin Flynn??? who knows.
Personally and this is just me I would like to see a 3 to 4 hour epic movie with a intermission to wrap up Tron. Then have it go 4 installments counting the original as one. I think it would be super cool if Kevin Flynn is alive but turned to the darkside, possessed by a virus and answers to Dillinger Jr. and the MCP 2.0 (senior Dillinger). Sam finds an old floppy that contains the original Flynn from 1982.
Flynn '82 fights Flynn '12.

Well, considering that there most likely won't be Flynn and Justin Bieber will be featured along with a soundtrack by Black Eyed Peas, I am guessing more of a musical on the grid type of movie. The Tron themed stuff during the stupor bowl was genius by Disney as they have opened up the early teen girl market which can add an additional $100+ million in ticket sales and $150+ million in merchandising.
The Tron 3 panel at Comicon will be a complete zoo with 10,000 screaming teen girls in the audience.

As it stands now, possible Tron 3 storylines are Dillinger Jr. vs. Sam, Sam's Necklace, Quorra and Sam in the real world.

Dunno. Still not seeing Dillinger Jr. as a bad guy. Still think it would make a tired storyline.

What if they went in the direction of a prequel to 1982, focusing on the technology of the laser and how it all began.
I think we should start a thread on what TR4N would be like?

I think that is wouldn't make sense because Kevin Flynn is a user(human) not a program so he wouldn't be on a floppy disk. The angle of bringing the Dillingers back as the villains seems interesting though.

Dillinjunior is definitely going to be way involved in the sequel. No way Cillian Murphy would have been cast if they weren't planning on using the crap out of him in the future.

For me, they should start where they left us in Tron Legacy.
In TRON 3, I'd love to see how they try to recreate Flynn and rescue TRON.
If Dillinger Jr. plays a major role or the villian, they HAVE to make his character different to his fathers and they have to make him a bit more complex than the characters and villians were in T:L.

I actually liked Clu as a villain, I thought that he was very complex.
Ed Dillinger Jr. as played by the one and only Scarecrow will be awesome! Everyone's expecting him to be an antagonist because that's what we've been told. He may be like Leonard Nimoy and agreed to do this film to introduce Sam.
As for the trilogy idea, I was going to say that too, but didn't want to leave out Tron.
