I agree with you. Fortunately, it's not a sequel. It's a Brand new series
So for all intents and purposes, this Thread should be entitled "Spider-Man 1", but since the new movie is currently Untitled, I thought I'd name it Spider-Man 4.
The Last one had Raimi as Director and Toby as Parker, this is being helmed by a brand new cast and crew. |
Huh okay then it could be good!! yeah

I'm hoping for a good combination of light hearted humour with seriousness. I mean, Ben Parker will obviously die. Peter has to face some trouble, with his powers coming in and all the responsibility that comes along with it.
Sally Field is playing May Parker, which I am not looking forward to. Her voice is sooooo annoying. Martin Sheen is playing Ben Parker

All I know is that this reboot better be very different from Tobey's Spiderman.
Do any of you remember the Hulk reboot? Man.. Im so sick of reboots. Reboot this reboot that. Thanks to Batman Begins, Hollywood is going reboot crazy.
Its redundant.
The guy playing the new Spidey is a very interesting and a good actor, though.
I loved Tobey in the FIRST Spiderman film he acted. But I got tired of him by part 2.
Part 3 he was just plain obnoxious. But that wasn't really his fault. It's the way they wrote him in and the entire film itself actually. It was passionless. Rushed to make a buck.
Welp, whatever. I'm sure the kids will enjoy this. I do love Spiderman. He's an icon.
I'm just waiting for the next Batman movie. TDK didn't really do it for me, although the action was pretty damn awesome.
Actually... scratch that.

What got me on board was that Martin Sheen was playing Ben Parker. I actually thought that he'd be perfect for the role, before it was announced that it was him. And Emma Stone is awesome, I can't wait to see her as Gwen Stacy.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Now, I thought he was fine in the first movie, so I don't understand your massive problem with him- I think most of the problem lied in the fact that his character wasn't written well. Even Garfield can mess this up if there isn't good enough writing behind the movie. |
Yeah, I agree. Spider-Man 1-3 weren't the best written movies, nor the best directed, but they were entertaining. I just wish Venom would have been kept alive.
These people better keep Venom alive in this new movie series.

Agreed -- bad writing can make anyone look bad. The writing in Phantom Menace made Liam Fuckmothering Neeson look bad.
But... I'm having a hard time putting my finger on exactly what bothered me about Tobey McGuire's performance as Spidey. His voice doesn't really work in the suit, IMO, and he kind of sleepwalks/sobs his way through the Peter Parker scenes. He lacked intensity, I think, is what it boils down to.

I wonder if they will do a trilogy where the first one is Amazing Spider-Man, 2nd Spectacular Spider-Man, and the last one would be Ultimate Spider-Man.

That would be cool. Have the same actor play the Spider-Man from a different universe. That is extremely likely not to happen, but hey, would be cool.

I didn't mean different universes, I just meant that those would be the titles of the movies in the trilogy. That is a good idea though. Reminds me of that Spider-Man game I need to get...

LWSrocks Wrote:So, according to Screen Rant, which I believe to be a reliable movie source, there are some new details on what the deal is with The Amazing Spider-Man. First of all that it's less of a reboot and more of a prequel, detailing Spidey's adventures in discovering who he really is as a superhero in his days as a high-schooler. It isn't completely a prequel though, obviously, because that would make no sense if it fit within the canon of the preceding 3 films- Peter meeting Gwen much later in the story, etc. To me though, it looks like a way of saying "Everything we can't explain in the time alotted for the movie, just fill in the blanks with info from the first three films."
Secondly, the primary villain of the story has been revealed, and just as I'd speculated earlier in this thread, Amazing Spider-Man will pit Spider-Man in a battle against none other than the Lizard, who will be appearing quite similar to the version of his character in the comic books. Even the actor playing the Lizard has been revealed, and it is Rhys Ifans, whom I am unaware of, so any details on his previous work will be much appreciated. However, there is going to be one major difference between the Lizard of this story and the Lizard of the other Spidey media. THIS is where the Spoiler Alert comes in, so stop reading now if you're waiting for the deets in the movie.
The Lizard basically spreads the infection onto other people. Rumors confirmed by the crew of the movie claim that an epic battle scene contains a S.W.A.T. team trying to keep the Lizard under control, and in doing so become contaminated and become lizards themselves. I'm excited to see a fresh take on the villain character that hasn't been seen before, but the last thing I want to see is the Spider-Man movies making a desparate attempt to cash in on the wave of Zombie movie popularity, and I'm worried that the Lizard infection plot thread + Pete and Gwen romance = Paranormal love story akin to Twilight.
Lastly, the crew has revealed some major differences of the reboot and original trilogy, for example- Ben lives, but the Aunt dies. Well, what the hell? I hate when movie reboots/remakes/adaptations make a blatant, unnecessary attempt to differentiate themselves from the source material, especially when it's such an unneeded one. One of the things that gave Spider-Man 3 such negative reviews was exactly that, unnecessary attempts to differentiate themselves from the source material- like Gwen living, but New Goblin dying. That was definitely what pissed off my friend, a Spider-Man comic book collector and superhero afficionado MOST about the movie.
I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic about the movie. I'm not going to get too excited about it, because alot of what I know about the film (what I've listed above) are things that I dont think will be too good for the movie in the long run, but I'm not going to be a total naysayer about it because it's possible that if executed properly, the movie could be a huge hit. But from the comments I've heard from veteran Spidey fans, not many of them are too happy about the new movie's progress. |
Thanks for the heads up, son. Much appreciated!

It's a reboot, calling it anything else is just stupid. They are going for a completely different angle...there's a new cast, suit, and web-shooters. It's a reboot, Sony is just calling it a "different interpretation."

I agree completely. As I said, it's just their way of saying that there will be unexplained plot threads in the movie and we should assume anything that isn't stated in the movie can be filled in by the original series. It's not smart. |
But we are idiots! How are we supposed to fill in the blanks?
I have to admit though, I'm probably more excited for this movie than I should be...

I'm still waiting for something to excite me about this movie, myself. I am not liking Sally Field as Aunt May (her voice annoys me to no end).
Not liking Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy either, because of her past roles in those raunchy teenage comedies. I don't think she can pull off such an important character and I hope this movie isn't turned into that, and let it become what was done to the Green Hornet.
I kinda like Martin Sheen as Ben Parker, though.
