No, they teleported away a few seconds after he exploded. So, it's safe to say that Sam and Quorra both saw Flynn explode.

Also, I'm further jaded because back when I didn't make enough working freelance in film and I had to wait tables, he would come into my restaurant a lot, and I would serve him. He was one of the most arrogant people I ever had to serve.

That's being rather unfair. He's had serious long term back issues that contributed to that, and his weight has been improving quite a bit over the years. He's just recently had a very successful surgery that has vastly improved his situation and he's getting some good physical therapy that will hopefully get him out of the chair for good.

His writing can be a bit much though...no argument there

The one thing I don't get is how everything is going to plan. Dillinger is obviously regarded by the suits as representing ENCOM's golden age, but Sam has apparently regained control of the company. This hardly seems like a "win" for Ed and Ed.

They already established that Ed Dillinger Jr. is a tech whiz with his last-minute save during the Encom software launch event, so it isn't that far a stretch for him to be able to crack Sam's encryption now that Sam is assuming hands-on control of Encom. This means that either Ed will discover Sam's backup of Flynn's original (Legacy) Grid and start tampering, or he'll find out about what transpired in the past and have his own go at it. Either way, he'll probably be the "baddie" in the next film, unless there's some kind of mighty plot twist that the writers have come up with. Even if the plot is as simple as that (and really, there's nothing wrong with a basic good vs evil story) we'll still be treated to cutting edge eye candy, and that ain't bad at all.

And maybe if we're really lucky, we'll get an on-screen appearance by Cindy Morgan as Lora/Yori.
