I don't think this article makes much sense. I mean, as conspiracies go it's interesting, but the main point for the "leak" theory is that they were able to keep the first bit of filming for the VFX concept a secret so why couldn't they keep this a secret?

The answer is very simple: When they filmed the VFX concept no one seriously thought they were going to make a new Tron movie. It was easy to keep it secret because very few people cared except the hard core fan base.

Flash forward to now and after years of hype and anticipation the new movie is out and Disney has made sure a TON of people care. Hiding filming in those conditions would be near impossible.

Exactly.

Besides all that, it'll help motivate "on the fence" buyers to purchase either the DVD or Blu-Ray, and also get the hype machine rolling early for the next movie. Now that Tron has been reestablished as a franchise, they'd be crazy not to.

anyway i'll follow his advice in the last part, buy a couple of copies of Tron: Legacy. I'll try to convince my friends, family to buy at that time too. Only i hoped that our "try" is not needed to push for Tron 3, as stated in the article.

Well, that most recent article is a little disenchanting. I hope it's not the case, but it was only a matter of time until an article like this came around.

Considering the fact that, as of today (1/24/11), TL has really only profited a max of $43-50million *IF* Disney kept all theatrical revenue, that's not a lot of profit. I must say that this is the internet, people can say anything. I don't believe a Digital Domain employee under NDA would even visit this site. It is way too risky and foolish on their part.
