I must say that this is the internet, people can say anything. I don't believe a Digital Domain employee under NDA would even visit this site. It is way too risky and foolish on their part. Jobs are tough to come by these days, not only would he lose his job but also be sued in court. |
I never realized his identity was under suspicion. Seemed legit and down to Earth in all his posts that I saw. He's been around since 2003 but not been able to post much. That goes back farther than both of us...  His profile name even matches the name of a DD employee.
Sure, it's possible he's a faker, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I think he is more reliable than VisionShock based on how long he has been registered on here. While Harry Knowles can be extremely obnoxious and pretentious, I don't have any doubts that he does have connections and he does have friends and contacts in the right places to know things. I do think it is interesting he said that Disney was close to green lighting a sequel well before news of this teaser trailer came out. I also think if those pictures were pulled it is a good sign they were legit.
I guess while I'm very hopeful, I'm not sure if anything is set in stone yet. I guess the clincher would be if the teaser footage shows a release date or a name for a sequel or anything like that when we finally see it. Those were used at SDCC this year for the ARG. Well I don't want to give anyone here falso hope or anything. Just cause I work at DD doesn't make even me a solid source. Besides.. the minute I find out about Tron 3, if it happens, I'll probably be under NDA and can't come here anymore.
Truth is that when we had a company meeting in December just before Tron was released, there was a list of upcoming projects named as projects we are anticipating beginning production on. Tron 3 was mentioned in this list.
This didn't mean they were solid evidence that we WOULD GET these projects but rather that the possibility was there.
So, who knows. I said it "looks" like it is moving forward but... until Disney gives an official greenlight I think no one, even Harry Knowles, really knows for sure.
All this info we are getting could all be info that was in place before Dec17th release date and were merely place holders for future plans.

I disagree. I absolutely love the Daft Punk soundtrack!!!! It fit perfectly with the updated Tron Legacy, but I do like Bear Mccreary's version of the Human target theme.
The Daft Punk score is the best soundtrack ever!!!!

So that's some good news that atleast the cartoon is a go for sure in the Tron universe though he told me again there are no hints of Tron3 on the dvd. He said unless the DVD and Blu-rays break some records, he is adament there will be no Tron3. Hopefully sales of the DVD will prove him wrong but somewhat decent news of hope.

Whatever this footage may or may not be intended for, I don't know if its existence proves or disproves anybody.
My wondering though is, if Disney has totally scrapped a sequel and plans to never make one what good would it do them to allow all these persistent rumors to circulate, especially on a high profile web site like AICN, which in turn got repeated on almost every movie news site imaginable. None of this makes a whole lot of sense to me. I can't imagine Disney is saying it will never happen, but it may be in the works or up in the air at this point. There could still be a benchmark for ticket sales that has to be reached or home video sales have to reach a certain point or something. I mean who really knows.

I think it really depends on the sales of the DVD/Blu-ray before they proceed to greenlight it and it should do reasonable well sales wise so I'm not that worried about it. I just think assumptions were made that the content was a teaser confirming Tron 3 was a go and somebody obviously jumped the gun without checking all the facts. Because maybe it will happen, just not in the near future. So that in 30 years they can get the same reaction as they did at Comic-Con? I don't know. But sometimes rumors circulating, true or not, creates buzz for the company as a whole. Any publicity is good publicity in the movie industry. |

What if the trailer was released via Flynn lives first? Would that be a good idea or would that be too "niche" of an audience for a first trailer?
