While unlikly, I did muse over the same idea with my wife.

Jarvis is legendary in his own right - he's so entertaining! Likeable for being so unsavoury. But yeah, his clumsiness and lack of knowledge for books is so charming. Besides, I'm a coward too... ^-^;;

Yeah you're right  Charming is not the word... We saw him fail with that when he was trying to flirt with Gem!
Cute... In a way, though it's not a word I would apply to him myself!

Jarvis was okay as a character, I liked him about the same as Castor, both were a little annoying but had a certain class to them. I felt Jarvis showed some potential when he was sorta the ringmaster/announcer between Sam vs CLU lightcycle match. When Sam tries to use the rod a a lightsaber the dialog between them...
Sam: So how do I use this....
Jarvis: Not like that
My conclusion annoying as heck, but with a ton of style

Him being derezzed by Clue was one part that gave me a chill. Not that I had any sympathy for the character. It was his "death to the users!" line. He said it even though he was being derezzed. Kind of like the Nazis when they were being hung for there crimes.
I think like the Nazis were loyal to Hitler, Jarvis was loyal to Clue even as Clue derezzed him. He wouldn't have followed Clue so closely if he didn't share his views. Jarvis was just scared of a user. And one who was destroying any opposition in his path at that point of the movie.
If God walked through the door and started wiping out anyone who got in his way, I think there would be a lot of Jarvis like people kissing butt too. The guy was just too bizarre looking for me to like. Kind of like Gary Oldman in "The Fifth Element".

Jarvis also seems unique in that he is one of the very few programs working for Clu who does not appear to have been re-purposed into a mindless drone, like the Black Guard. Whatever else he is, Jarvis has clearly chosen to be Clu's yes-man. As opposed to being one of the nameless rabble of victims (hat tip: Christmas Story.) Given Flynn's exile from the bulk of The Grid, it's a wonder more programs didn't make the same decision.
