To quote Sam and Alan:
Sam: Come on, Alan, are we really going to do this again? Do I really look like I'm ready to run a Fortune 500 company?
Alan: No. And to tell you the truth, the board is pretty happy with you being where you are. That way, they can keep doing whatever they want.
I would guess that would be the reason that Dillinger Jr. is there. The board didn't care what Dillinger Sr. did.
{A very big thanks to FlynnOne for the pic! And to Wulfeous for sharpening the details!*huggles both*}
{Because people always seem to guess wrong, I'm saying it here: I'm female!!! And my name is Spark!!!}

Tron Fanatic Wrote:It's really strange too how they ended the film. It really feels like a sequel wasn't even in mind with Legacy. Does the ending leave questions? Sure. But nothing that seems like it'd make for a good sequel. The only way a sequel would feel necessary was if there were still humans trapped in the grid and the only way to save them is to go in after them. Or a similar scenario with humanity's entire digital communication network being put on the line (ala Lawnmower Man). But none of that happened, the Grid has been cleansed and shut down, so... what else is there?
All that's left seems to be Quorra, who, because of what she is, is now the single most valuable scientific object on the planet. That could lead to TONS of inter-corporate espionage, kidnappings, etc, but that's all "real world" stuff, which kinda makes calling it a Tron film a moot point, because who wants a Tron film with no cyber-world? |

IMAGinES Wrote:I have this wish that Castor and Jem had somehow escaped the destruction of the End of Line club and arrived at the portal a while after it closed, only to find Rinzler crawling out of the Sea of Simluation. They approach him warily as he collapses on a rock and rolls over.
"Er - Rinzler?" Castor asks.
"No," the voice comes from within the helmet, which peels away to reveal the features of a young Alan Bradley. "Not any more. My name... is Tron."
Castor shrugs with his eyebrows. "First bit of good news all cycle. Well, Tron," he says as he and Gem put an arm over each of their shoulders and lift the exhausted security program to his feet. "No time to natter, I'm afraid. Gotta get you back to town before the system finishes going on standby. Did you know it's named after you?"
That would have been pretty sweet. |
I like it. The question is, did they really survive and did the grid get wiped out? And, what was around Sams neck? The grid? Tron? Kevin Flynn?
I can see Castor and Gem coming back and Legacy Tron being merged with Encom Tron. But, I think Sam would have abandoned the Grid after what all went wrong. It's a reminder of loosing his father. In the real world he can transfer data from the card to the Encom servers without entering the Grid. The sea of simulation is the only other element I could see Sam interested in.
It would have been nice if they put in an extra scene at the end of the credits for the die hard fans. Jet Lives! |

Technically if Ed jr. applied and was qualified enough to get hired then his father's history should have no bearing on whether he can or cannot do the job. You cannot rightfully bar a child who did nothing wrong from employment in a company even if its where their father engaged in criminal activities. Besides that dude Richard Mackey dude that was running the show seemed awfully keen on Dillinger Sr. as he gloated about his history with the company. "Word to the Motherboard!" - IsoLine |

I would probably think that there wouldn't be much love for Flynn within ENCOM. Personal loyalty has no place in the modern corporate world and everyone is just seen as an asset. Anyone who didn't know him personally, wouldn't have many nice things to say about a guy who went through a ton of trouble to wrangle ENCOM from Dillinger and then leave the company to rot a few years later.

Well if they really want to blow it wide-open, they need to go more along the lines of Tron 2.0 with F-Con, which in a film, would probably almost have an Iron Man 2 kind of vibe. ENCOM assures everyone that the odds of anyone else developing Shiva laser tech is extremely low, someone steals the prototype from the Arcade, independent hackers start digitizing themselves into internet and causing havoc, some just do it for entertainment, and then ENCOM jumps in, the governments jump in, and an entirely new type of war begins on an entirely new battlefield. Yeah...
Just imagine the chaos if the Shiva tech became commonplace.

That was not shown at the Free Previous the Monday before the opening weekend, nor was it shown on Sunday of Opening Weekend. (I should know, those were the two times I saw the film, and there was no shot like that featured).

There's room for a sequel, just like with the first one, but they crafted this movie to stand on its own (for which I am very proud of them). That's not easy to do and they did a great job. I prefer that to some kind of cliff-hanger ending. This is more like life. All of our life stories have sequels...until we're dead, that is.

Yeah, but he'd still be out of a job.
I agree with LWSrocks. I'd like the next movie to take place in another system with a new visual style, like the current Encom mainframe, rather than The Grid.

Just saw the movie last night and sat through the credits. I was hoping for something to happen like Tron emerging. Meh.
