There are a lot of big screen 3D movies these days that do fine when you bring it home and watch it on TV. But I'm really wondering if I'll get anything out of Legacy watching it on DVD. There's something about the film that seems to make use of the grand scale even moreso than Avatar which everybody hails as the grand daddy of bigger-than-life film experiences. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I dunno. I didn't see it in 3D and still thought it was great, but then again it will still be different on a small screen than a big one.
(We keep meaning to go back and see it again in 3D, but who knows if my partner will have enough time off before it's out of theaters. I'm not that eager anyway, I don't think 3D is that great. I've heard someone say before they think that wearing glasses may affect how the 3D goggles fit, so that could be why I've never been all that impressed; maybe I'm not getting the full effect because the goggles aren't fitting the way they're meant to [because they're held further away from the eyes by glasses, kind of like glasses-wearers have to be careful about binoculars]. I just remember thinking I didn't know what the big deal was about 3D Avatar.)abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

I've seen it both ways and I liked it just as well in 2D.

I've seen it in 3D and 2D and prefer 2D. There just wasn't anything particularly special about the 3D to warrant the extra $3 except some depth on the wide shots. Kind of like they did the 3D as an afterthought.
I'm always far more into the story to have the visuals make that much of a difference.

i thought the disclaimer in the beginning of the film was a joke
but unfortunately it wasn't
half the scenes weren't in 3D
and i really don't think it was necessary for a dinner table conversation to be in 3D
i'm planning to watch it in imax real soon,
i just hope it won't end it's theatrical run any time soon

Guys, once and for all, what is the difference between IMAX and 3D?
When I was younger and IMAX was just coming out, I understood it to be 3D. Early on I saw a "documentary" film in IMAX at a museum theater and it was 3D complete with big clunky headsets. Earlier this year I went to another IMAX movie at a museum and no headsets/no 3D...just a huge screen that stretched overhead as well as up the front (somewhat similar to a planetarium in shape, really). At which point my partner explained to me that IMAX does NOT mean 3D, it means "really big screen." And then there is such a thing as "IMAX 3D," so does that mean "really big screen" + 3D too? (And if so, then what on earth did I watch way back when with the big headsets that was supposed to be IMAX?? I don't recall it being any bigger than a regular movie screen.) I'm gonna go Google this, but before I go wading out there, maybe somebody here can tell me.

Kat, your friend was right. True IMAX is a much larger screen and I believe the cameras record at a higher resolution. However, there has been confusion more recently since some theaters are being called IMAX even though they don't have the larger screen. Not sure what the deal is there.
3D is a completely different but complimentary technology. So you can have Standard Definition, Standard Definition in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX in 3D.

Other than resolution, the difference between IMAX and just regular is the aspect ratio. IMAX is almost as tall as it is wide, while regular screens are wider than they are tall., order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

All of the real-world scenes after the title sequence are in 2D, all of the Grid scenes are 3D. |

ive seen it in imax 3d and twice in 2d and ill say i much preferred the imax 3d, i preferred the imax 3d over the 3d thats shown in our local theater as well. i had gotten to the point of where i didnt see the point in watching movies in 3d at our theater, it just didnt seem to add anything to it really. then i saw legacy in imax 3d and it was just way more imersive and i pretty much only wanna see 3d that way now

I had seen it in RealD 3D. I wasn't impressed by the 3D. When my wife and I had seen Alice in Wonderland in RealD we were sucked into the movie. But, Tron Legacy in 3D really didn't do anything for me. It just seemed flat because of all the black in the movie. Nothing really stood out. And the Grid being in 3D but not the real world was just too gimmicky. The whole film should have been in 3D.
I did feel like the scenes with young Kevin Flynn looked fake in comparison to Clue. I couldn't figure out why at first, but then it dawned on me, the 3D added an extra dimension of reality to Clue. And the skin tones were muted on the Grid. But the 3D I think was the biggest factor.
If anyone has seen the movie in 2D and 3D, maybe you have some incite as to whether or not the 3D had a positive effect on Clues realism.

I liked the intro being in 3D, and the shot of Sam's toys with the light discs, but other than that, I thought it was good to have all real world scenes in 2D, and all Grid scenes in 3D. But it worked without IMAX, and the visuals are good enough to distract from the 3D at times anyway. 3D is never essential, merely a nice touch.

It looked awesome in IMAX 3D. Its best to sit in or near the middle seat of a row and not to sit way to close or way too far from the screen. The depth of feild with the 3D was very well used and not over-done.
What urks me is that I've heard that some theaters don't boost up the luminocity on the projection of the picture, so some theaters are really screwing up the picture brightness quality of the movie.

Personally I think Clu looks better in 2D. I caught certain mannerisms and details in 2D that I missed in 3D (my eyes were fighting to focus on too much at once).
I think Legacy works without the IMAX, or the 3D for that matter, you're just not gonna get the full experience. I mean, there's no denying the sheer ball rattling power that is the IMAX sound system. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Personally I'm really glad they didn't go balls-to-the-wall with the 3D technology, adding subtle depth to scenes rather than throwing stuff at you and bits coming off the screen, which gets tiresome after the first time you see it in a film. They've achieved a kind of seamless integration of the technology which it has been crying out for since its inception in Avatar. The visual effects are so stunning that taking it to the gimmicky extent of films like Alice in Wonderland and other childrens' films (given it does work in those kind of films) would have detracted greatly form the overall look.
I think this is a good direction for the use of 3D in film making to go, creating depth to a world rather than strenuously trying to rip it off the screen, where it belongs.

IMAX doesn't have to be 3D, but most films that are being made with IMAX are also being done with 3D effects.
The IMAX screens are overall bigger and have a different ratio than conventional screens (the ratio is smaller, but since the screen is bigger, that means that you have greater scope in the Y axis). When scenes are filmed with IMAX cameras, the image fills the ENTIRE screen--this was notable in The Dark Knight, where the entire opening heist was filmed in IMAX. But whereas Dark Knight only had about 15 minutes filmed in IMAX, Tron Legacy had a full 40 minutes in IMAX--essentially, all of the supercool scenes (I have a separate post titled "IMAX scenes" where I list the ones I recall seeing). If you look closely at the transition from conventional scenes to IMAX scenes, you'll see that the conventional scenes seem "letterboxed" compared to IMAX.
Some people pooh-pooh the relatively small IMAX screens that have popped up in theaters all around the country, but I think the expanded screen really does add a lot to the imagery, and is worth the extra cost.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Saw it twice in 3D..
I wanna see it one last time in IMAX 3D...
then I just want to get it on Blu Ray and DVD...
a 3D TV would be cool....
but I want to wait until they are bigger and cheaper...
right now they are just way to small for the price they are asking..
