There is a dedicated Wikipedia page for TRON: Uprising as well as an IMDB page. Both are complete with casting infos so I gather the series has been greenlit. Now, understand that this is a microseries so its prescence on television will be more of a test that could be the vanguard of a larger more intricate television series down the road. Microseries are now the latest tool in testing the waters to see if traditional series is profitable.

No offense, but that's rather ridiculous. The original TRON came out in 1982, a literal lifetime ago for the modern generation of audiences. Many if not most of the core audience for a film of this type was not born when the original TRON was in theaters and it's videogame spinoff conquered arcades. There is simply no way that the original movie is considered in any trilogy thinking. No, Legacy is not a remake or reboot but it fills the same role as a fresh start for the franchise. From that perspective, the original TRON has been relegated to the role of retroactive, optional prequel.

I don't recall where I read it, but I remember seeing that the plan was (presuming sequels are greenlit) to film the next two movies back to back. This makes a lot of sense, as doing so provides a major savings in production cost compared to doing two seperate productions. So if that's correct, we'll either see two more films or nothing.
