Totally! I have just started watching them again on Netflix recently myself (they are also on Youtube). What's funny is it seems like a bunch of people have just started watching SC&MK again lately; there are the two of us here, and someone on Deviant Art who is making cute [PG-slash] fanart based on stuff that happens in episodes. Small world I can't wait until I get to the episode where he is walking around in short-shorts and a robe *drool* LoL

Sam just lends himself to adorable, IMO. He comes out somewhat cute in my story too. Not entirely--my character's flashback to their friendship back in college shows he could be an asshole too, but not really to her since they were friends. Now that I think of it, I need to write in some scenes where Sam's an asshole to somebody. Because even though he's grown up a bit and mellowed out a bit since the whole T:L thing, I don't want to take him out of character by having him entirely nice.

(I'm still struggling a lot with the backstory between Sam and my character. The only plausible thing I can think up is that they went to college together. But I didn't really want her going to Caltech; it's not the sort of place she would choose. But without being thrown in classes together, I can't think of any other reason they would have been stuck around each other enough to meet up. Sam's never had a job (we assume...I suppose I could give him some college job that he totally blows), he doesn't run with the same sort of crowd my character would... I thought of having her go to school somewhere nearby and she just has enough friends at Caltech that she's there a lot, but I sort of need them to have classes together. And can't think of a reason she might be a guest student. I thought of maybe having her follow a friend there, I guess, but she's not really the "follower" type.

STILL waiting to get original Tron from the library. Also put myself on hold for T:L, because I want to get my damn Rinzler story done. I am soooo close. Although considering some of the arguments here about exactly how events took place in the movie, the story may not be that well-received when I post it, I dunno, if somebody else has a certain idea in their head about what happened when and it pissed them off that someone suggests something else. Guess we'll see.

I think I'll post it anyway, though. The thing I hate about posting anything I've done--written, whatever--online is that I'm afraid someone's going to rip it off, and without actually registering something with the copyright office there's no way at all to prove it's yours and doesn't belong to whoever stole it from you. I guess that's egotistical when you really think about it, as if i think my stuff is so great everybody wants to steal it, but in reality it's just that I really, really, REALLY REALLY don't trust people, esp. people I don't know, and I don't trust people not to do shit just for the sake of doing it. Prolly in the fanfic section. I can't promise how long it'll end up staying there depending on how it's received, though. Intelligent dissent/helpful commentary is one thing. "This is utter shit" or "you suck because you wrote it something I don't think should happen" is another and I wouldn't leave my stuff up to pull that kind of criticism and in that case I'd have no qualms whatsoever about packing up my toys and going home.

At any rate, it'll be a while yet for the Rinzler story, and I'm not sure if the Clu story will ever see the light of day; there are some ideas in it I like, but the whole thing seems clunky somehow and I can't figure out how. I've also got a continuity issue with the part where Flynn decides to trade discs with Q/realizes that he might have to end up sacrificing himself to save Sam/the Grid/whatever...where I want to put it based on the movie is not where it wants to go based on what I've written.
