It's an interesting challenge, especially right now with working out how to fit rectangular parts (batteries, ICs) into a round case, I've figured out the batteries placement so they don't off-balance the disc when it's spun - who doesn't throw theirs up in the air and catch with the other hand - and just waiting for a couple of more bits to arrive. Taking my time over this as I don't want to rush things and screw it up and waste time fixing new problems.

I looked closely at the stand tonight, specifically why the disc wouldn't sit on it very well, turns out the middle of the groove where the edge of the disc goes is flat so it'll never sit snugly on the stand.

But using two tiny pieces of sticky backed rubber from the leftover piece of some stick-on rubber feet, I placed them in the outer edges of the groove and the disc sits in it perfectly, no more rolling off the stand!

Glitch Wrote:(Most of) you guys are dead lucky being able to walk into a store and buy the Tron Legacy toys, where I live just about none of the shops have anything Tron related (maybe the console game & DVD, if that), not only that you're getting them cheaper, I ordered two Sam deluxe discs from the online UK Disney Store and it cost me £20 each + £5 postage (about $68 total)

this is why i'm ok with the uk getting some exclusive stuff like that sexy recognizer case and i even passed on the rinzler and kevin flynn discs when i first saw them since i'm only picking up the core figure line.

but yeah, can't wait to see pics of your sam flynn disc all lit up. =Dabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Very cool stuff guys!

Here is my contribution:

I've upgraded my deluxe disc with:

1 new outer blade and inner "C" ring cast in translucent white

8 super strong neodymium magnets for mounting the disc on my back

4 metal LED bezel mounts for the inner holographic projection

Over 80 high intensity wide beam LEDs

2 separate switches to independently light the 'C' ring, the outer blade ring or both

Runs off of 2 12V batteries.

Just recently I cut out the "C" shape on the back and installed a second "C" ring so now its illuminated on both sides!

So, how much would it cost for you to make one of those for me?

I'm not sure what the rules are about discussing business here on the Tron-Sector, but I am offering mod kits for these discs, so you can make one yourself if you like.

I spent some of today finishing wiring up the 60 LEDs that light the edge ring and put a temporary plug on the end to go into the breadboard test rig you can see behind:

The camera makes out it's brighter than it is, but it's still very bright, and spinning even though the camera can't see the spin. At that brightness means it'll go through the batteries in minutes which is why I'm programming a lower brightness setting which will still look cool and last much longer, with the high brightness programmed in for the 'wow' factor when showing people but only using it for short bursts.

I've yet to wire up the 48 LEDs in the C-ring.

Rachel aka Mrs RecoPilot came into work today bearing a box freshly arrived from e US, containing a pair of deluxe discs: Sam for her, and Rinzler for me. I got them from eBay for $21.99 and $24.99 respectively, and they are now on display on our TV cabinet along with our die cast lightcycles and her Lord of the Rings helms.

LWSrocks Wrote:I really want a green one, but it can't be too expensive. I'm thinking around 30-40 dollars, I don't have alot of cash. And one question- if I got a green one, would it be both rings or just the c-ring or just the outer ring?

For that price, I'd suggest a do-it-yourself approach.

Get a blue disc (Target: $13), buy some green 3mm LEDs (bgmicro.com: $0.50 each x 8, plus $6 shipping), buy a soldering iron + solder (Radio Shack: $20?)

I've put green LEDs in the blue disc and it comes out pretty nice, actually.

I'm working on a complete set of disc mods but I'm not ready to show them off yet and with work being crazy, it will be another month. Basically my mods will include different color LEDs, 2 additional LEDs at the bottom of the C ring, and an always-on light mode WITHOUT sacrificing any of the original functionality or cutting holes for additional switches. The Kevin disc will also have better light blocking through the white plastic. The Kevin + Sam discs will also have internal USB memory storage plus activity will light up the C ring.

I'm going to have 6 discs: Kevin, Sam, CLU, 2x Rinzler, and a green disc (because I can!).

Once I get my initial kit orders out I'll be making some fully completed discs for those that are less crafty and would rather just buy a pre-modded disc.

Here is my time lapse full kit build for those that haven't seen it already:

I would certainly buy a pre-modded Identity Disk. What might the price range be? I would say thirty, maybe forty sounds good.

I'm sure that price wouldn't even come close to the price of parts alone.

Heck, the toy itself is $14 to $21.

Essentially he's turning a mass produced toy into a niche market prop, I'd say $30-$40 isn't even close and $100 might not be enough for the amount of time & effort put into modding a disc like that.

Model making isn't a quick or easy job, I've just finished watching Soulinertia's time lapse build and have to say I'm impressed and envious of his skill at being able to turn the toy into a prop that wouldn't look out of place on the big screen.

Soulinertia: the batteries you used, were those the miniature 12v ones used in car alarm remotes etc.? (which are actually made up of 8x button cells) how long do they last?
My mod is using 4x AAA's and just the 60 LED edge ring doing it's 'spinning' thing eats them up in about 45 mins at most (much much less when they're run at high brightness), adding 48 more for the C-ring will probably reduce that by half.

Yes, they are the A23 12v batteries. I use energizers and they last on almost full brightness for 4hrs before they start to get dimmer. I left one of my discs on for a full 72hrs with one battery powering both LED strands, about 80 LEDs, and it was still going up to the end, just barely though. You could only tell the disc was lit in a dark room at that point. I've since changed my design to two batts powering each LED strand separately. I haven't done a full light test to see how long they last yet.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I've been all over the place and I've seen plenty of Sam and Rinzler discs, but not one Kevin Flynn disc for the life of me.
