Kuriel Wrote:I'm currently starting up a line of customs, but I am very new to it. For now, I am currently trying to see what I can do for using a few loose figures I have here are the following:
Young Kevin Flynn (Evolution/Legacy) - Using T:L Flynn body with T:L Clu legs , repainted with dyed SW: Saga Legends Anakin Skywalker cloak
Helmetless Clu (Betrayal) - Using T:L Clu body, repainted with replaced lighting
Helmetless Tron (Betrayal/Evolution/Legacy) - Using T:L Rinzler body, repainted with replaced lighting
Helmetless Quorra - Using T:L Quorra body with G.I. Joe: ROC Agent Helix head, repainted
Monitor (Evolution) - T:L Sentry body, repainted with replaced lighting
Elite Guard (Evolution - Battle Grids) - Using T:L Black Guard with Rinzler or Sentry thighs, repainted with replaced lighting
Helmetless Sam Flynn - Using T:L Sam Flynn body
Digitized Alan Bradley - Using T:L Kevin Flynn body, repainted
Legacy Sark
Legacy Jet Bradley
I am currently trying to decide what to use for young Flynn and Clu because I did have two Avatar Jake Sully figures, but their heads are too small. My best bet is using SW Han Solo figures if the scale is right. I think using combinations of Clu, Rinzler, Jarvis, the Sentry, and the Black Guard, would making a very intimidating Sark with perhaps another SW head. I thought a Legacy version of Tron 2.0's Jet Bradley would be sweet if him and Sam team up in the Tron system for once. For the digitized Alan, I thought of combining Flynn's body with hints of Rinzler's own including the signature T formation on his chest with something of a chest plate from Castor/Zuse.
I'm open for any recommendations since I'm new to the game. I did custom modeling before on a full-scale prop of the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens with a LED counter and a working pump-action grenade launcher, which were made from a resin replica and airsoft weaponry. |
Greetings, program.
That's a lot of them you're considering on making. Honestly, I can't wait to see how they turn out.
I don't think I've ever posted the list of figures I'm definitely doing, and some I'm considering:
Ones I'm Doing:
1. Sam Flynn - Head replacement (possibly making it swappable with the helmet version). Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits.
2. Quorra - Head replacement, make it swappable with the helmet. Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits.
3. CLU - Head replacement, make it swappable with the helmet. Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits.
4. Rinzler - Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits.
5. Pre-CLU Coup TRON - Replace head (possible swappable with helmet). Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits. Replace either entire board or the LED on the board with white glowing LED.
6. Black Guard - Detailing the figure with the painting more of the circuits. May add the "wing" parachute pack they use (which is present in the Deluxe 7-inch figures).
Considering:
Figures:
1. T:L Version of Yori - Replace the head, possibly sand down a bit of the front half of the Torso and paint so to have Yori's symbol being displayed on her. Remove (possibly replace) the skirt (depending on if I want to make her a full-fled program or a Tower Guardian-like program), possibly replace legs.
2. User: Ed Dillnger Jr. - If I end up using the second Sam Flynn I picked up to swap boards for my Pre-CLU Coup TRON, I may take the board from the Rinzler, stick it in the spare Sam Flynn body to make a In-System User version of Ed Dillnger Jr., make him glow orange/red as he would be a villain, replace the head (obviously) with one that has a likeness similar to Cillian Murphy.
3. Gem - If I happen to stumble across another Quorra somewhere, I may do it. Replace the head, sand down body, some sculpting and paint.
4. Out of System Sam Flynn - Basically, Sam as he appears in the film. Non-T:L figures will be used. I will also give him a diecast Ducati (it may not be the exact model of Ducati he drives, but its a pretty close model)
5. Out of System Quorra - Same as Sam, build from non-T:L figures.
6. Young Kevin Flynn - Made of non-T:L figures, not sure if I want to go with his outfit from the original film or the new one (or if I want to go out of system or in-system version). Found a die-cast Ducati that looks close to the one he rides in the film, though not the same exact model.
7. Alan Bradley - Out of non-T:L figures, not sure if I should do young or recent version, or both.
8. Lora Baines/Bradley - Out of non-T:L figures, not sure if I should do young or recent version, or both.
9. Castor - Though I know there is a Castor figure, but the fact that there was a limited in release makes them one of the most sought after item that you probably wouldn't even find it loose. So, I've considered on making one, using the arms, legs and coat from a Loki figure I made mention of a few posts back) and possibly other figure parts (may not be a glowing figure).
10. Steve Lisberger - I know this seems odd, but why not a figure of the man who came up with
TRON and the universe of the film? Definitely out of non-T:L figures.
11. T:L Daft Punk - That's right. I've considered on doing the duo as they appeared in the film. Probably will use parts from various different figures for them.
Vehicles/Playsets/Accessories:
1. Black Lightcycle - This would be more of a replica of the one seen on the shelf in the film when Kevin Flynn talks about lightcycles and disc battles. Since we have the one in white widely available, and I've seen someone take three of them and paint them the same color scheme as Flynn's, TRON's, and Ram's lightcycles from the original film, why not just go ahead and make one to match the toy seen in the film.
2. Tank Program - I know the tank hasn't been featured in T:L, but you get to drive on in
TRON: Evolution. I'd have to scratchbuild it, but I don't know if I'll use the design in the game or if I'd try to do a unique and "updated" design that mimics the classic Tank design.
3. Flynn's Arcade - I'd probably make this as a temporary diorama. As a photographer and someone who likes to build things, I've just had the itch of recreating the shot of Sam approaching the TRON arcade machine from
TRON: Legacy on a small scale. That's why I asked if the TRON arcade machine from the figurine packs was the same scale as the action figures (that'd be one less arcade machine to build at that scale, even though I've got a paper model of the TRON arcade machine that I can use and adapt to wood and/or styrene plastic).
4. Miniature TRON Arcade machine - See above.
Don't Know If I Should Consider, Even At This Time:
Action Figures:
1. T:L Jet - As cool as it wound be, I don't know if doing one would be a good idea, even now. Primarily because we don't know if Jet will be involved in the next film or left out as well.
2. T:L Mercury - Same as above.
Vehicles/Playsets/Accessories
1. Encom Laser Lab - From the original film.
2. Flynn's Lab - From
TRON: Legacy
That's about it.
