And when you do, let me know if one of the games names seen in the white sign to the right of the now classic red neon sign outside FLYNN'S read:

Um.. that's just like, his opinion man.
But he must not be following the Flynn Lives campaign which has *heavily* incorperated a lot of lore from the original Tron and interwoven it into a narrative backstory for Tron Legacy. From creating an actual, online, playable Space Paranoids game, and a real Space Paranoids arcade machine, a real recreation of Flynn's arcade in San Diego in July 2009 and re-opened in July 2010 during comic con, in the Film a real Flynn's sets were built to exacting detail, the inclusion of Bruce and Jeff and even Steve Lisberger, heck even on the set of Flynn's home in a major flashback scene that has little Sam's room featuring classic Tron bed sheets, toy light cycle on his shelf... several scenes and in the movie even intentionally are highly reminiscent of scenes from the original.

It's all these little details throughout the film from the footage I've seen so far all add up to showing that the *sequel* pays alot of homage to the original TRON very strongly and wonderfully in my opinion. I guess Mr. Bonifer must not of noticed those...

Sure it's unfortunate some that worked on the original or a super collector of Tron memorbilia are left out of the loop, and that is unfortunate, but what big hollywood company doesn't do that in some way when re-invigorating a franchise IP? I think many do.. yeah it stinks. Not much one can do about that sadly... :/

I don't know why he brings up the Tron on BluRay... sure it's release is delayed, there are some valid reasons why it's been, and I don't think some over-aching conspiricy by Disney/Buena Vista to sweep the original film under a rug" per se. It will be coming out in 2011 (sooner than later hopefully).

While Mr. Bonifer does have some valid points, some of what he talks about or is implying is maybe a bit debatable...

I highly doubt Tron 2/ Tron Legacy intially would of even been given a chance if not for Joseph Konsinski being a huge fan of TRON and wanting to bring in Steve, Jeff and Bruce, that along a with the all the vocal die-hard fans here and across the world, and great reaction to the Proof of Concept Footage "TR2N" had not been so strong and booming... if those pieces hadn't exsisted and fallen into place the **sequel*** Tron Legacy wouldn't of been green lighted or even considered at all.

Lack of audience participation? So I'm just imagining "Flynn Lives" and all the cool stuff I now have gotten for participating in it, so it all just appeared out of thin air? Suuuure...... The entirety of the Flynn Lives campaign sure seems like a great form of "audience participation" to me...even if it's major goal is a form of viral marketing.

I'm a member of "Flynn Lives" too. I dunno about the viral marketing thing, but I'm quite happy to be one of the participating audience.

As for the unavailability of the DVD, I'm glad I got it when I did.....where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Lol, that super collector 'has' to be DaveTRON!

Was an interesting read. I agree with Bonifer that it's too bad that folks who brought the initial Tron to life are being pushed to the side. It's like Walter Gibbs was predicting this Tron: Legacy turn of events all the way from 1982: "You know you can remove men like Alan and me from the system, but we helped create it. And our spirit remains in every program we design for this computer."

And yet Jeff Bridges is back, and Bruce Boxlietner (which is no stranger to being pushed aside my many major tv networks and major film studios.. alot of talented actors have this happen to them in Hollywood).. and Steven Lisberger is a major influence IMO. The BluRay HD remaster is still coming out, just in 2011 that's all.
Sure the delay stinks, and than some of the people that worked on the original aren't involved in the sequel, yeah that stinks.. but that can't really be helped.

But I think it's better to focus on the good instead of just expressing a debatable conspiracy of "omg Disney is sweeping Tron 1982 under the rug!" When that may not quite be the case....

Don't Tron and Tron: Legacy hold the record for the longest time between a movie and its sequel?

I agree with ShadowDragon (words I never imagined I'd ever say) that a Disney conspiracy against TRON is bogus. Quite the opposite.

As for certain super collector's being out of the loop. Must be someone else. I've been working with the people making the BluRay for TRON and I know exactly what is going on.

I think Bonifer is in a better position than us to see what's going on from an insider perspective. Everything we see is the public stuff. He's taking it to a deeper level than just the two returning actors and director... And blu-ray delay.

Hypothetically speaking, imagine if you played a heavy role in making the CGI animations used in Tron, or were pivotal in the roto-scoping technique for it... Let's say you were Moebius, Syd Mead, Dan Shor or Donald Kushner... Or were a driving force in creating the CGI from MAGI or III... And you reach out to get an inside perspective on what's being done or if you can be a part of a premiere, etc... Basically participate a little from the inside. Would you feel taken aback at all if they said No or ignored you? Tron: Legacy wouldn't exist without Tron and those who made it.I think Bonifer is just wondering why they're not getting more respect than they are. Yes they get some respect and appreciation, but maybe more would be morally right. Not wanting the big collection of items and Blu-Ray release delays may be small symptoms of a larger underlying issue. After Legacy and BluRay are released, I wonder how much the old Tron will come up in future Disney initiatives and campaigns. This movie could be the last of Kevin Flynn and Bradley. If that happens, and they make a trilogy, what will be left - how much will they use - from the original Tron? Time will tell

EDIT: Looks like u were typing at the same time as me, DaveTron. Too bad I didn't see that earlier before I typed all this from my.... phone!!! Gah! Not easy. Anyways, DaveTron's comments are reassuring, that's good. I give his view more credence than SD1's non-insider view. I'll still be watching to see what unfolds as time goes on and the years progress
