Not yet. Just got the jacket finished. Will need to finish rest of the suit later (missing torso strips on front/back!)

I'm happy with how the jacket turned out.

The suit will eventually be fixed to have EL tape but I'm happy that the jacket lights up!

The suit looks great Kia! You did well with it. Also, I know this is a bit late, but what if for the rest of the suit, you used velcro for adding the EL tape? I know there are velcro strips that have a sticky side on one half that you can attach it to things while the other half could be stuck, or sewn onto something.

As for the resized images, I guessing Auric might have set up a code that converts most images, big or small, to a designated width and hight.

Possibly-- I actually just used silicone based glue and glued fabric on top of the tape (the bits that weren't lit) and let them cure 24-hours so I could attach them to the jacket XP

cool kia, i know youd work something out. there was a girl at the imax theater i went to that had made her own white jacket that looked pretty good too, ill try post a photo in a while, all i got was a quick cell phone pic
it looked as if she used the reflective tape and then surrounded it with the elwire, she had a toggle switch of some sort on her side and she could turn on either side alone or do both it was a repeated pattern on front and back

Never thought about using glue before, to me that would seem a bit messy, and a bit tacky on the clothed item, but still a good subsitute if needed. Altough, when you do get the rest of the EL tape are you going to attatch it like you did with the jacket?abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Peppymint-- I got mine from www.glowhut.com under EL Tape (caution: you can't re-wire the cut off pieces @_@)

neomanga-- Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing for the suit, but for now, Silver just needs to figure out what to do with the leftover EL tape pieces. x_x

They have that glue that is like, well, stitching fabric glue. I've never used it, but it might work. Unless you mean you want it to be detachable and re-attachable?

What do you want? I'm busy.

Velcro is surprisingly strong, but of course if you attach it to cloth it has to be sewn. And don't try to sew through the adhesive kind of velcro--obvious, but I actually tried that and of course it got gunk all over the needle.

Yeah, I know what you mean, hahaha. (baaaah so much insanity hand sewing through adhesive velcro and dealing with the gunk on needle)

I do have some non-adhesive velcro in my sewing desk.

I'd like to make one that's just simple.

Tron's "T" chest icon.

Could make it myself, easy. Just need tape, and whiteout... I think.

I want the shirt in black and the icon in white, and to get a shirt printed can be pricy.

Even better, spring for some of that white glow paint so the shirt can glow in the dark!!!

But yeah, basically take a black shirt, tape the squares in the form of the "T" and then paint them on in several coats so it looks screen printed.

Thanks for tip, ISO

Thought I had a plain black shirt, too. Apparently not.

ISO, what do you think is the space difference between each square in the icon?

I'm guessing at least 2 inches apart and how would you go about making sure the logo is completely centered?

and how long should I let the pain dry, before I apply the additional coats?

I'm guessing this shirt shouldn't be washed at all.

Sorry for so many questions.

Well, I know that places like Old Navy sell single color tees for usually 5-6 dollars on sale. Sometimes you can find Hanes Beefy Tees on sale at Target and such. Or you could do an inverse color scheme and do black squares on a white undershirt. That way you can get a pack of 3 on the cheap (hopefully) and still have a nifty TRON designed shirt. It would be kinda like the leotard costumes the actors wore. Paints, especially those glowy paints have different setting and washing methods and such so for whatever paint you get, you should consult the manufacturer to be 100% certain of how to use it and maintain your work once it is done. For the logo, I am roughly guessing the squares are about an inch apart across and then the base of the "T" is an inch and a half from the top row. I guess you could make a template and then do some measurements from the center of the neck down to say maybe mid breast bone or slightly (half an inch) above to place the artwork. To me it looks like the middle square in the "T" is hitting Bruce right in the middle of the breast bone. As for washing, again whatever instructions the manufacture of the paint suggests would be the best plan. That is my best guesses on the subject, but I am sure others can be of help too.

I would say that fabric paint, if good quality, SHOULD be able to be washed. Carefully, at least. I know I have some shirts (not self-printed) that recommend washing inside-out to protect the design (I assume so it's not rubbing against other clothes in the washer, perhaps?). You could also try to minimize any washing by perhaps wearing another undershirt and that'd keep the top shirt more clean. Or, would you be averse to keeping an eye on the paint job and touching it up as needed? I mean, once you get everything placed initially, touchup should be pretty easy.

When putting on coats, think thin. This is coming from someone who has painted in oils AND painted her nails. Thick coats will get the job done faster, of course, but will dry more slowly, may dry at different rates and then crack, etc.

For centering, I would think you could measure between side seams of the shirt if you have it stretched perfectly flat (you might pin it to an ironing board or something similar so it doesn't move around as you work, but be careful not to stretch TOO much as you pin or it'll come out uneven, of course; you just want it flat, unwrinkled, and secure. If you can, I'd suggest putting the shirt over the end of the ironing board so you're only working with one layer--that'll minimize wrinkles coming through from layers below, and also eliminate any chance that paint soak-through will get to the other side).

Check your fabric paint to see how long it recommends you let it dry. Maybe add some time on top of that.

I am not sure I'd recommend you go to your local fabric store and pick up whatever they have for fabric paint. You might talk with someone who knows about fabric paint on a more professional level and see what they use. Either look up t-shirt makers on Etsy (or if you dont' want to make an account there, let me know if you see any designers whose work you like and I could convo them for you and see how they do it), or see what is available on a site like http://www.dharmatrading.com/ (they also tend to have articles, and you might find one that would help you out), which I would think might be a bit more high-quality and durable.

Um....those are the best ideas I got. Take with grain of salt as I'm neither a seamstress nor a garment-painter.
