RenegadeProgram Wrote:I kinda agree, Mayorcan. There are some people who are able to pick up things without referencing the original. But for those that can't, I have the following sentiment : one thing that continually pisses me off about some of these reviews and mindsets is, "Well, we have to 'bring in' the 'new generation' ". Question for so-called 'new generation' (and let me make this clear - I'm not lumping all of the new generation into one monolithic group): why is it that some of you can't just do some RESEARCH on the original source material? Wow. I guess I blame the public school system, LOL!!!!!!!

I remember research skills being taught to me when I was in the early grades of school (I was born in '73) and it seems that public schools have gotten away from that, to some degree - even when it comes to searching for things on the internet now.

Anyway, I'm gonna head over to Queen City Comics today and see if they have any copies as I, too, have been wanting to pick up one, as I also have the iPod app with the snippet of the comicbook.

Heh, I'm one of the "new" generation technically, since I was born well after the original Tron came out and only discovered Tron when I was in sixth grade and found a copy of the novelization of the film in my classroom library. It was missing the photo insert, so aside from the image of Tron himself on the cover, I had NO idea on how to visualize the plot until I finally got the film on VHS about a year later. That was back in 2001. So I suppose I got lucky in finding that book (I now own my own copy of the novelization WITH the photo inserts), but I do remember being taught how to research stuff in public school. Gah, my school library was still converting over to online card catalogs at the time, so I was taught to look up stuff both using physical Dewy-Decimal cards and digital ones. The Internet was still "off-limits" in terms of use as a resource! Ah, the late 90s, how quaint were you!

Why use Norton AV or AVG to protect your computer when you could be using TRON instead!?

Hey Mayorcan:

Wow! I must be getting old, LOL!!!!! I graduated High School in 1991. Ah, what a year! No offense intended, as I know there are people alot smarter than that curt reviewer's review suggested - I was just referring to what I call the pseudoarchetypal/mythic "New Generation" demographic that marketing execs always refer to, and whom same execs always imply is unwilling to find things out for themselves, or to search outside of their sphere of existence. Marketing research is not always accurate or truthful. I tell ya - it's amazing how a green piece of paper, printed by an institution that is as federal as FedEx, can have so much power over people.

The ARG website may have timeline errors just as Disney's official webiste has detail errors that conflict with facts established in the original movie.

Though, I would assume that Tron:Betrayal is most likely more cannonical than 42 Entertainments's ARG related Encom website...

That's a good point right there. ENCOM wouldn't know of Flynn's clandestine activities. But I wonder if he had Alan's permission to copy Tron? It would make sense for the debs to remove the tidbit on the timeline.

I just picked up TRON: The Betrayal (Part 1) today at a local comic shop. Boy, comics have come a long way since I was a kid! Nice shiny pages!!...no more old school newspaper stock! LOL! Overall, I'm enjoying the story and looking forward to Part 2. For those who haven't bought it or read it yet, I'll put my observations in spoiler tags.

SPOILER... Mouse Over To Read:
The element I'm most curious about is the ISO's, specifically Ophelia. The name Ophelia is derived from the Greek "ophelos" meaning "help". I wonder if there is some underlying meaning to that. Is she going to help Flynn in some way? When TRON said to Ophelia, "...Flynn tasked us with keeping you safe", that must mean she is apparently special in some way since Flynn wants her protected. Is it just because she was the "FIRST" ISO? Or is it something more significant than that?

I'm also thinking that, in some way, Ophelia is connected with Quorra. To me, the story is just screaming this out, but I'm just not sure how they are connected or to what extent. I could be totally wrong, but with Ophelia meaning "help" and Quorra meaning "heart", I just think there's bound to be some significance to that. Maybe we'll find out in Part 2.

By the way, when they first see Ophelia, it says that they "were at the edge of the city", and it looks like Flynn (or CLU, I can't tell from the comic) is in something that resembles water. In one of the news stories http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44298, Darren Gilford, production designer, said that the farther away from the city's center you get, you lose definition and symmetry eventually falling off into the Sea of Simulation. Since Flynn is at the edge of the city, is he standing in the Sea of Simulation when Ophelia emerges? I wonder if that has any significance?

So what do yall think? I'm interested to see if anyone has any other ideas or theories?

I still have the old style and with the tron series 1-6 sersies from slg and this one that is already for Betrayal. I like both of them for different reason. Since grwoing up in the 70s. I enjoy the newpaper type of comics since that is what I knew back then. And love the ones that I have collected there. As well as with the new ones due to the kind of paper being used for graphics and all that for it. Now if I could find a nice database over here that I can use on one of my servers I could entered them intor manually and keep track of which ones I have. I think I am close to about 100-150 comics in total over here. I would have to take count on the total over here. Nice litle investment that I have here.

I just realized something about the programs in TRON. What happens if they become bloat-ware? Would they require a hardware upgrade to be able to handle the RAM? Look at Photoshop. It's become RAM hungry these days and I'm wondering if Clu got too big for his own good, that he can't even go beyond his abilities unless he moves to a more advanced hardware set.

Wouldn't more function require a RAM expansion? Didn't the writers overlook this possibility?

I'm sure the MCP got too big for ENCOM to handle until Flynn got the upper hand on Dillinger.

Something to ponder here.

What about digitalizing humans? Does the comic reveal something more about the process, the conversion into Programs, the moleculas and so on?

Greetings Programs, and HooDoo Man:

I just finished reading Pt 1 of the Betrayal (thanks, Soundwarp). Here's what my thoughts are:

SPOILER... Mouse Over To Read:
*That Clu starts to see Flynn's dual responsibility and existence as a reason to take over things and become the evil Clu hinted at in the trailers *
*He then lumps all the ISOs together in a prejudicial way in his mind, and then goes after them eventually, to the point of hunting them down and derezzing them
*Something about the ISOs is maybe attracting the gridbugs
*I think things get to a head between Tron, Flynn and Clu - to the point where Clu gets pissed off at both Flynn and Tron: he probably fights Tron, nearly derezzes him, and then gains the upper hand by making Tron his slave and converting him into Rinzler; also, after one of Flynn's sojourns inside the Tron system, he captures Flynn, and imprisons him; I feel that Clu feels Flynn is a lazy, absentee boss, who has his priorities out of order
*Thus begins Clu's cross over to the dark side - he becomes evil and beings wreaking havoc all over the Tron system, which leads to the events of Tron Legacy
*I may be reaching here, but I think that Ophelia may be an earlier version of Quorra - maybe Clu derezzes Ophelia, and Flynn creates Quorra to counterattack
*I also get a feeling that Alan may be a little pissed off at Flynn, especially the scene in the boardroom where Flynn is daydreaming, while the board members are popping questions off left and right

Doesn't reveal anything new as for the digitizing process no. It was used to go into the digital world and back out from it when he had to go to his girlfriend/wife pregnancy at the hospital for the screening that they usually do. What I am not too sure of if she is married to flynn or if they are dating while she is pregnant with the child. I think Clu does eventually does get mad or wants revenge from flynn since we can see it in the trailer for the movie. And from what is shown in this issue here. I don't know if it will lead into the second issue that they are going to be arch enemies going into the film itself.

I can't wait until the second issue comes out and as well the graphics novel as we.. to round this out. I am wondering if they are going to do something like what they did for the original The Art of Tron . Where they had thingsabout production and everything else that made the movie I wonder if they will do that as well for evolution and for this new game as well. Would be interesting to see that as well.

Clu is upset with Flynn because he can only make changes with Flynn's explicit permission, otherwise he has to just maintain the grid in its current state. Clu believes that he can improve The Grid if Flynn would give him more power, the thing is, Flynn is long for eons upon eons of time in the computer world, and Clu is very impatient.

I can't wait until the second issue comes out and as well the graphics novel as we.. to round this out.
The graphic novel isn't a continuation of the comic, it's just the two comics put together. I'm guessing that Part 2 takes place in 1984, and will be picked up by the DS game, which takes place in 1985.

The digitizing process seems to have evolved somewhat. As of the end of Part 1, Flynn can enter and exit The Grid at will, and can be contacted in the grid from the real world.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

What if Clu got a clue how to make a phone call to contact Jordan and pretend he is Flynn to distract her while she is driving. And boom, she dies in the car accident all because of this one call.

And "Old Man" Flynn's life turned upside down ever since then.

Never mess with the power of Clu Fu!!

Nice try Pilgrim... but exactly how do you think CLU 2.0 would know she was driving at any given moment? Oh, I forgot, Kevin Flynn threw some GPS capabilities in that phone too, right?

You need to check out the COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL TRON TIMELINE!

Maybe Clu got lucky? :P. Still, in the timeline it was stated she died in a car accident. I wonder if it was a planned hit. Otherwise, if this was purely an accident and Flynn is trying to revive her using the Grid tech, then wouldn't that be consider a violation against the digital law of nature giving Clu the right to imprison him for that reason?

By the way...

Pilgrim1099 Wrote:EDIT: I'm going to redo this post and to bring up an important contradiction on the Tron comic. If you look closely, Flynn created Clu 2.0 in 1983 but in he canonical timeline, it says he was cloned in 1989.

What gives? Bad editorial oversight or are we misled to what is true canon?

Yes, there are lots of TRON continuity errors but there's no such thing as a canonical timeline that established that CLU 2.0 was created in 1989... I've never read something like that... Else name your source...

The source was originally on the Encom International website run by the Tron ARG. The timeline, at one point, showed Encom's past revealing Clu to be cloned in 1989. However, some time later, it was removed by the web administrator or Disney.

I know WHAT I saw months ago. Some people on here may remember it briefly.

So I believe either someone in Disney or Marvel effed it up. Unless the screenwriters told Marvel a different story to stick with to relate to the film material.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill
