It seems like every toyline does this though rather than focusing on the standard figures and vehicles. |
Agree x10. As far back as I can tell (which isn't too far, but I have the aids of toy collector books) 3-4" figures have been the best-selling lines. GI Joe and Star Wars have been around for decades, and they've stuck to that. I feel that if you're gonna do multiple scales for a franchise, it should be split up between companies. I know that would require other companies to actually show interest, but all the same, the 6" would have been more interesting if they were handled by a company with a better track record for 6" series. Same with the Ulitmate figures... 2 12" figures seems like a waste of plastic. Why not give them to a company with a history of good 12", or better yet, just leave it to a collectors company that's going to sell directly to those that are interested, rather than clogging shelfspace for the 1 in every 50000 kids who actually wants one? I dunno. Toy economics mystify me.

The recognizer released should have been the UK Disney version! How can I get one of these sets BTW? Can I pay someone $80+shipping for one?
I was going to put one of these for sale on ebay.
I will offer it at $80 BIN and will send you the link. All I need to do is see how much it will cost to ship and let you know.
Id rather sell it to someone on these forums anyway :-)

The Targets by me all have Ultimate Sams with Katana for $20... Some have 3-6 on the shelves...
I decided to check my local TRU that only had Series 1 stuff in since November. They *finally* got only ONE Series 2 toy in:
Three-Man Light Jets
I picked up their last one on their shelf.
Hoping the last of the Series 2 stuff at the warehouses that didn't make it over during our blizzard will show up in April for the DVD release...

I understand that Wheat King said that he had no new Tron things he was working on, but could that mean that maybe SpinMaster is having a different group of people work on series 3? I'm not sure how the toy industry works, just throwing out a super-optimistic idea.

I'll play any mode, but I'm best at LC.

They are done. They grabbed their cash and ran. Off to make more airhogs and beyblade stuff. With the price of resin as it is it is understandable. But, the bastards could have at least gave us Anon, Gibson, and Abraxas in the cores at least. I mean seriously, resin is currently .86 per pound for prime. The figures weight less than a 4oz. Was it really that hard you bums!!! I really wish Hasbro would have got the Tron line instead. They could have melded some of their molds from the Marvel line to fit it so they would not have had to spend so much on molds. Abraxas could have been done with a variantion of Moon Knight, Anon and Gibson could have been anyone male. And what about Castor? I'm not a fan, but he had a scuplt made already. Spinmaster can sit and spin for all I care. |
Believe me, the line ending had absolutely nothing to do with resin costs.
Also, Spinmaster does NOT produce Beyblade toys :Pabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I find it hard to believe the line was canceled due to poor sales. The core figures were always stripped from the pegs at every Target and Toys R Us in my city and I live in a large metropolitan area. That's pretty anecdotal though, and doesn't take into account all the other non-core toys.
I'd love to hear more about the actual reasons for Spin Master deciding to pull the plug.

The core figures are far better sellers than the Deluxe or the Ultimates due to price point but even at $10 that price point was higher than even Hasbro's Star Wars line making them the most expensive 3 3/4" figures. The current price reduction to $7.99 at Toys R Us and K-Mart is more reasonable and on par with Star Wars.

We, unfortunately, represent the minority of collectors, the hard core fans who are willing to pay more to get what we want. We only represent a small percentage of the masses. Like Wheat King said he was amazed that 70% of Tron toys were purchased by adults over the age of 18. Granted part of that statistic is likely parents buying the toys for their children whom these "toys" are initially targeted to but the hard core fans and collectors are a minority of that percentage and cannot sustain sales of the line at retail. I just think Spin Masters underestimated the sales because almost every time I made the rounds I would see kids with their moms buying Tron toys and the kids were genuinely excited about it the way that I was at their age. They have captured a new generation of fans who want the toys. Seems pretty foolish to drop the line at this point but business is business and companies make bad decisions all the time. That's the way it goes.

I like the 7" guys but I have to agree with what was posted earlier, a little more focus and a less of a shotgun approach would have been good. I would have given up the 7" guys for a 12" Rinzler (especially with redeem function.) Also, perhaps without the 7" guys we could have gotten more core guys. There are some major movie characters that never got covered. I would have enjoyed some Evolution characters as well but that game was a bomb in the gaming community. They were right to focus on the movie, but we should have gotten a Castor, a Gem, a Helmetless Quorra, a Tron/Redeemed Rinzler and a helmetless Clu. A young helmetless Tron and young Flynn would have been icing, as well as original movie merchandise.
I don't see much point in having both the 7" and 12" lines, and the 12" lines at least have really nice accessories. Not to mention it was probably a shelving nightmare trying to arrange that many different types of figures along with the vehicles and discs and 2" guys. And the diecasts. Man, no wonder there was retail fatigue.

I'd really like to address some of that, but I'm not sure there's a point. (Edit: this is directed at some of the unreasonable posts earlier, not the one directly above.)
I like the Spin Master products I bought. I think Spin Master did a good job. It's too bad they couldn't continue. I hope they do in the future.

I have the majority of the Tron line they came out with (including the baton and the race track). My main complaint is how difficult it was for the core figures to fit into their vehicles. Flynn's light cycle is FOR him and it's a struggle to even get him there fully intact (if you pop of his arms it's not so bad).

Oh yeah, I don't mean to imply the line is perfect. Just that I don't hate Spin Master with the fire of a thousand suns now that they won't sell me more toys.
There are definite problems with the toys themselves, and the choices of what to make into toys, business plans, etc.
I still like what they made.

Abraxas Wrote: They just took the optimistic view as I did and hoped there would be more product to cover the shameful effort put into his line. And, I reiterate, hopefully Hasbro or a more reputable company will pick up the line next time around and give Tron the treatment it deserves. |
The catch with Hasbro doing the line would be that the Core 3.75" set would be amazing, maybe even with the Light-Up features because that's what Hasbro does best. But I am pretty sure that there would not have been Discs made, especially not like the deluxe versions of the Discs. When it comes to those things, Hasbro usually will go the plush route, since (especially since they are thrown) it would reduce having to go through safety testings.
Best case scenerio we would have gotten a stuffed Black/Blue disc, and maybe ones comparable to the "Basic" flying discs Spinmaster put out. So there would have been pros and cons to both sides. The reason they went with Spinmaster (other than the 'bro and Mattel not being interested) is that Disney was more interested in the toys being "technologically advanced", hence the Zero-G Cycles and the Impulse Projection. It would be interesting to see what happens if/when Tron 3 hits, but it really is disapointing to see the line-up we'll be missing out on.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

JediTray Wrote:Um, Vinz, you ARE aware that Hasbro makes the most electronic role play toys available across many lines, aren't you? Their version of the Deluxe Discs would have been awesome. |
Hmm... I'd actually not thought about the lightsabers... Not that those are entirely accurate either. They have a knack for making everything overly kid-oriented, but there would have been the chance of seeing a (possibly "super-deformed") CLU and maybe Rinzler helmets too. Oh, and we'd get a set of TRONS-formers crossovers, and since Hasbro's got the licence for Marvel, we'd see figure versions of everyone of the TRON/Marvel covers before we'd ever see a Quorra, Castor, Ect...
I don't know why, but I've apparently got a bias against them, but just something seems like Hasbro would find a way to screw it up. Out of all the things Spinmaster did, I think the Discs were just about the best considering they are pretty cheap and easy to custom up.
But you guys are right, if they went in the right direction from the start, Hasbro could do well with the franchise. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion
