Can't wait until the tv ad hits YouTube! Sounds very cool. If spin master ever gets their Tron site up they'll probably post it there too.

Found a bunch of Tron toys at a local Wal-Mart today, so I finally got Clu's Lightcycle. Haven't messed with it yet, but it sure looks cool.
I also scooped up a die-cast Recognizer because it looks cool. ----------------------------

well my dealings with the disney store are finally complete with the deal they gave me I picked up Flynn's white lightcycle and I also ordered the light runner. So I got them both cheaper then you would at a WM or targer to TRU. Now I just have to pick up some figures. to go with them. BTW if anybody who lives in southern CA is courious the Kmart in Ramona has a BOAT LOAD of Tron items.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Yeah, that was the only reason I cared about getting Clu's cycle, because they're actually different sculpts. ----------------------------

My pic didn't originally work on here either. Make sure you have lower case img tags and not the IMG that Photobucket and like include when you copy/paste the links from their site.
So it looks like all Walmarts will indeed get TL toys at some point then? I don't know why I was under the impression that they wouldn't? Maybe seeing the "NOT SOLD IN STORES" on the website and reading that "toy centric" thing made me paranoid.
Another reason I thought some stores may be hesitant to carry these is due to some past movie lines doing horribly over the last few months. Last Airbender, Prince of Persia, and that Harry Potterish (I forget the name) lines all pretty much tanked. A-Team figures weren't even sold in Walmart or TRU and Targets got like 2 cases each and never restocked.
Anyway, it's good to see them making their way into more stores.

The Walmart by my work didn't have TL toys, but the one by my house apparently does. o_O (no exclusives to be found there)
So after raiding Target earlier, I got Sam Flynn cycle, light runner... and after raiding the Walmart, I got rest of the diecasts since I have the ones from Disney and Clu cycle.
(I know I said I was on a budget, but I was celebrating my pay raise XP)
And I'm gonna facepalm because I've been storing my TL loot in my sewing room (of which I should be actually making a Tron costume in there!)

I'm sorry, but... WOW!! Chill out! The toys have only been out a few weeks. There are LOTS of WalMart's that haven't stocked anything out yet. There are 6-7 in my town and only ONE of them have stocked any Legacy toys. The movie is a month and a half away and you're already talking about giving up on a particular toy just because it isn't hopping off the shelf into your hands? |

It's actually understandable. I was a little frustrated with the walmart by my work. Kind of wondering what was going on what with Toys' R Us and Target already having TL toys in.
Though, thank goodness, the one by my house actually got some TL toys in. (I'm betting the much bigger WM on the east side of town may have more @_@)
I'm actually okay with people venting because I mean, not everyone knows what Tron/Tron Legacy is. Sometimes, it feels like you're just going crazy.

Did they have the white plastic pull-tab in them? You have to yank them out before the "try me" stuff will work. ----------------------------

I have to confess, I went on a bit of a crazy shopping spree once I saw the Tron Legacy toys were out. First at a Toys R Us, then at Target, and finally Walmart. It always takes longer for new toys to show up here. There haven't been many toys or collectibles out lately that interested me much, until now. So I went and bought just about every figure, vehicle, and weapon. The only thing I didn't get was the light cycle playset, and I'm not very interested in it.. No one has the baton toy or Recognizer carrying case yet though, and I do want to get them. I'm not sure the baton is worth the $30+ Amazon wants for it though. I'd like to share my thoughts on the toys I got if I may.
So far I have to say I'm very satisfied with everything. They're all on my desk and I've managed to sync up the ultimate light/action sound Sam with his smaller deluxe counterpart. They both have the same phrases and say them in the same rhythm. So if I push both buttons at the same time, they speak in unison. lol
The smaller figures have very nice articulation and the light up feature is nifty. I'm with everyone who thinks they should stay lit just a little longer though. I like getting them all lit up at once. Their hands don't want to hold the disks and other weapons they come with sometimes, and it would be nice to be able to attach the disk to their backs when not in use, like the bigger ones can. They all come with a base that is colored like their discs, which is very cool. More figures need to come with a base to stand on.
The bigger deluxe figures have nice articulation too, but at the same time are somewhat limited to certain poses. Their waists don't turn, which is understandable since they light up from the waist up. The changing faces are only on Clu and Sam, but they're fantastic. Spin Master really surprised me on how good the figures are and what they can do. However, the other two only light up. It would have been nice if they at least made some battle sounds. At least their heads turn though. I know they are keeping Rinzler's identity a secret, and I doubt he shows his face in the movie until the very end, if at all, but he's obviously a very cool character considering his bio and all the weapons he comes with. It feels like Sam got left out of the weapons ring. Rinzler comes with two discs, two batons, a katana, staff, and nun-chuck batons. The guard comes with wings, two batons, and a disc, Clue comes with a disc, a baton, and a katana. Sam only comes with a disc and baton. The batons attach to their hips with little holes and pegs, but do not stay on very well. The same goes with the smaller figures.
The ultimate Sam Flynn figure is just as awesome, and comes with blue versions of everyone's weapons! Including the disc, baton, staff, nun-chuck batons, and katana baton. This is the only time when Sam isn't left out of the weapons locker. All of the weapons seem to be die cast metal as well. Not the blade of the katana or the energy thread in the nun chucks of course, but the main bits are, which is pretty awesome. The regular baton attaches to the figure's hip via magnet. Not a very strong magnet, but it is a nifty idea. His face does the same thing the deluxe one does, but has more of a light up area, that goes from his thighs up. I did see one in the store that had a blank image for one of the facial features, so every now and then his face would just go black during his talking. I have come across a few defective Tron Legacy toys here and there.
The die cast vehicles are awesome, but I do wish they could roll across a surface better. The wheels on them don't turn very well, especially with Flynn's white cycle, which only has a small, black cylinder for a wheel on the bottom of the front. If they made a light cycle track that used these, I would buy that, but the light cycle playset has to use its own light cycles that come with it and its a very small track. I got both 3 packs from Toys R Us, which include a different version of the runner and Clu's cycle, so if you're a completist, you'll have to go and buy the regular ones separatly. Both light runners have front ends that rotate.
Target's exclusive is the packs of mini figures on bases in various poses. All of these are very cool, and the bases have multiple holes so you can position them however you want. They would be great to put on your desk at home or work, and would make a neat diorama if you have the materials to make one. There are two of Sam and Rinzler fighting, two with light cycles and a figure, and one is of Sam jumping onto a forming light cycle which is half clear, which is really cool.
The deluxe light cycles of Clu and Sam are awesome. They have a sound and light feature that goes for as long as you can keep the wheels moving. The wheels are a good quality rubber-like tires that have a good grip. You can use the smaller light up figures in these, but they also come with molded versions of the figures that do the job just as well, if not better. The box says they have functioning air breaks, but as far as I can tell, all that means is that they have flaps on the back that open up. Speaking of the box, they have a nifty viewer that you can look into to get a 3Dish view of the cycles and what the features are. Kevin Flynn's white light cycle is an awesome throw-back. It doesn't come with a pre-molded figure like Clu and Sam, but you can open it up and put one in. There is a small button inside, and if a figure is inside to keep this button pressed, the lights will light up longer. It doesn't make any sounds or anything though. Both light cycles are styled a little differently and each have its own unique colored light of course. The sounds they make are pretty much the same though. All 3 can stand up on their own, which is cool. I think it would have been neat to have a rev-roll system like the original light cycle toys did though.
The Light Runner is pretty good, but would do even better as an RC that can transform to the off-road mode showcased in the TRU 3 pack. It has a strip of light that comes on and goes off. It stays on for a solid 15 seconds if a figure is in one of the seats, locked into place. I went and got a spare Sam figure to sit there so that the vehicle wouldn't look empty. The wheels only turn on the outside tread, and there is very little grip there, making it great for carpets, but not so much on smooth surfaces. The front end turns, and the light strip on it stays lit along with the rest of the strip along the vehicle. Again, it would be great as an RC if it had better tires and the ability to switch modes. Kinda like the old Tonka Ricoshet RC.
I have both versions of the disc. The hard plastic one that you can throw is done very well, and is fun to twirl around on your finger. The designs are very cool, and it comes with some sort of code that you can use for the Tron Evolution game for the DS. Its in the form of a sticker on the inside of the disc. Its not painted on both sides, and its just a kind of concave plate almost. However, the light and sound disc is just plain awesome. The demo mode has a couple of different sound and light patterns which are cool in their own right. When you switch it to the regular mode, it only lights up and makes sounds when you hit something with it. The instructions say not to throw it, which is obvious, but you can still hit stuff with it gently to make the lights and sounds.
Now for the Air Hogs RC light cycles... Honestly, there are more bad things about these than good. But first the good, they both light up in their respective colors and are the first RC light cycles ever. The cycles recharge when connected to the controller, which takes 6 AA batteries. The vehicles themselves are remarkably light, but then again they have to be. Now for the bad parts. For one, they both look the same. That is to say they both look like Sam's light cycle. They are exactly the same except for the colored lights. They are also considerably wider than a light cycle should be, but this is because of the area needed to create and maintain suction. Although its cool that they do work on walls and celings, they do not move very well unless the surface is very VERY smooth. Like glass. If it has even one slight bump or crease, it will get stuck. It has a mode for going on the floor instead of the walls or ceiling, but it is just as touchy. When it is set to go on the walls, it is very loud, like a small vacuum cleaner. I suppose that's because in a way it is a small vacuum. It sucks air in around the bottom creating the suction needed to stay on the wall/ceiling. The walls in my place are flat, but painted. They work a little bit, but often get stuck. Unless you have big windows or can make some sort of super smooth surface to use these on, I would pass on them. I got them not knowing this problem. However, even knowing this, I think I would have still at least gotten Sam's version, since it is the most accurate and the first Tron RC light cycle. I hope they redesign these at some point to look and work better. I've heard the original Zero G RCs work better than these do.
That's all I got so far. I've heard there is a wave 2 coming out soon. I just don't know when or what it contains. It would be nice to have die cast tanks and other vehicles though. Also a toy of the katana in various colors with lights and sounds would be nice. I've got the PS3 and Wii Tron controllers on preorder, as well as the special edition of the game on PS3. Its supposed to come with a light cycle and some other neat stuff. I definatly love having Tron stuff in stores again. Its an awesome feeling. I wonder if they will do any retro toys in the future. I've heard rumors of Disney making an animated series, which could mean more merchandise and stuff. If the movie does well, I'm sure there will be more. If you read the whole review, thanks for reading! I just got in a rythm and decided to go with it. ^^
