Disney just announced what's going on at the D23 Expo, and I'll quote directly from the press release since it says it better than I could.

Among the U.S. premieres at the D23 Expo will be new Disney Digital 3D™ versions of “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” the digital conversion of the original “Tron,” and a newly restored digital version of the Walt Disney classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

So anybody out there that's going to this will be in for a screening of Tron, newly remastered, along with a discussion on Tron Legacy. This could definitely mean a Blu-ray release is in the works.

You'd think with a new conversion they'd invite/fly in the 3 original stars (Jeff, Bruce, and Cindy) to promote, meet fans, and screen it.

I hope they don't add any extra footage in this digital conversion like they did with Star Wars. I hope it's true to the original movie with enhanced quality only.

So this means the bluray version is going to be horrible?

All of my hopes for this new masterpiece have now been smashed to the ground like a lightcycle hitting a wall at 300 mph.

Disney. Please resolve this situation immediately. I want my bluray copy of Tron to be flawless. Let me know if you need me to get on a jet and come down there to help you with this digital conversion of a timeless masterpiece. Do not fail me.

Also, is anyone else who went last night going to do a formal review, or is this going to suffice as our review of the new digital conversion of Tron? Tell me it's not this bad.

DaveTRON, is there any chance that the film looked grainy because you had a bunch to drink or something which could cause blurred vision\grainyness, and perhaps sounded bad because of faulty wiring causing a speaker to go out or something? Is there a chance you may have left your sunglasses on during this event which could also cause the film to appear grainy?

Or, could there have been a series of technical glitches occuring with the new version which caused Disney to have to use the old standby VHS version of the film for viewing at the event?

Or, could the new master version have been swiped by a pirate who left behind a crummy pirated version of the film as a form of retribution to add insult to injury or some other scenario yet unmentioned?

I hope one of the above scenarios occurred...if not, this will go down as a very very sad day for the Tron community.

Perhaps J. Maynard (Tron Guy) foreshadowed this event and this very bad version of Tron is what caused the Tron Guy to sell his Tron airplane?

This means I will need to notify Cueball because I will need the Tron lightcycle model he has constructed sooner rather than later, so that I may get to work on completely remastering the lightcycle sequence for Disney to help with the digital restoration of this film. I have a lot of work to do now.
