Fallout 3

Anyone here get it?

I got the Survival Edition from Amazon, it's pretty sweet. The clock looks really cool, and the bobblehead and artbook are sweet as hell.

I gotta wait till next week to play it tho, since some of my memory decided to die so I had to order some more *ugh*abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Oh yeah, I also picked up the Survival Edition and it's totally boss.

I've already started playing it a little bit, and so far it's Fallout from the first person perspective; you can go over-the-shoulder if you want, but that's for nancy-boys and console gamers.

I'll put up some picks of the swag later.

I got it for the PS3, and it definitely does not look as good as it does on the PC . However, it has marked improvements over Oblivion on the PS3. Runs better (no skipping or freezes), load times are very fast and there are less clipping/aliasing issues.

The draw distance definitely SUCKS on the PS3 though, and the Washington Monument looks like a pixelated stick from Megaton. But again... if you want graphics, then you have to go with the PC. The gameplay however is very good on the PS3 and I wouldn't let less than stellar graphics keep you from getting it.

I procured my first missile launcher last night, although the encounter left me crippled on three limbs. Healing cost me 100 caps so I am poor again. I miss the healing spells from Oblivion.

Gameplay is great. Awesome dark humor and the VATS system really gives some spectacular gory shots . Plus I love the NPC's dropping the F-Bomb all the time. You'd never hear that in Oblivion.

Hey all,

I am having trouble comprehending something in this game. So... it seems like the main weapons are guns... but ammo seems to be in *very* short supply. If you buy up all a vendor's ammo, they're out... for good. So it seems to me like the main weapons of this game have a finite amount of ammo that can be obtained...and is a "rare" drop...... and you better believe your enemy has guns.

So what gives?

Welcome to Fallout.

You're in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. You've only just emerged from Vault 101, and everyone has had way more time and experience in the outside than you have. It's to be expected that they've got the gear you fear.

Also, you're in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. There aren't any factories pumping out mass quantities of anything, including ammo.

Basically, you're in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Everything is in short supply. If you want something, chances are very high that you'll have to kill someone to get it.

How's the food in a post-apocalyptic world anyway? Grilled or extra radioactive?

Everything is ever-so-slightly radioactive. Gotta make sure you keep a nice supply of Radaway and Rad-X on hand!

And something about sudden replacement of destroyed limbs.

Silver accidentally got Fallout3 for 360 (I'm not sure what platform he was initially buying it for...) so he's still playing it anyway!

Hrmm... OK. I guess I am going to have to adapt my play style then. I was just unloading my guns on anything that moved. I guess I'll have to use the ol spiked bat some more.

Another question.... (if this is in the instruction manual, I apologize... I rarely if ever read them)...... are the mobs leveled like they were in Oblivion? Or is this like Morrowind where you can get to a place you really shouldn't be until you level up quite a bit?

I ask because I received the Super-Duper Mart quest at level 3 and walked in there and got my a** handed to me. Just wondering if anything should be do-able at level 3, or if some stuff I will have to do later on.

You need to get comfortable with first-person pseudo-turn-based combat via V.A.T.S.. Also, you're very low level at this point. Sneaking around and fighting dirty is the order of the day.

I just finished the Super-Duper Mart quest at level 3 and wiped the floor with those raider wusses. Sure I took a little damage, but the stimpaks I scavanged from their base as I walked over their bloody carcasses more than covered it.

I suppose combat in Fallout 3 would be a whole lot easier to grasp if you had played the previous games in the Fallout franchise. It's akin to a pen and paper game of AD&D - is it just D&D now? - in which you're always looking around and asking questions and trying to adapt to the situation.

Without giving you any specific hints, my advice to you is to realize that in the game you're almost as fragile as you would be in real life, so you need to develop tactics that will enable you to survive combat. Running around anywhere without always being alert to possible danger is a sure way to get yourself wasted.

Use everything at your disposal. This may mean making use of something you find in your environment. Always keep your eyes open and be ready to make connections between things you find and situations you need to deal with.

Sure, my pleasure.

One more thing: How you play the game, how you use items, what perks you choose, and how you distribute your skill points are inextricably linked.

Getting the hang of knowing what to use in which situations and how things work with the skills you develop can make your life a lot easier.

well, i'm loving this game. i think i'm doing quite well. i bought it the morning it was released here in the UK [friday 31st oct] played it for about 3 hours, then went cold turkey [went home to see the family for the weekend] then started it up again last night and for most of the evening today too.

so i'm well on my way to L7 now. personally, i think i'm doing ok for 6 hours of gameplay [on and off]

I'm feeling like crap and didn't read everyones post, but I'm curious... Is this an FPS or an RTS?

... and does this mean that Interplay is back?
... and if so, will they make Descent 4?

Oh man I remember the Descent games. 3 wasn't very good IMO, always liked the simple gameplay style of the first two. Very fond memories.

Out of curiosity, how much HD space does Fallout 3 take up on a PC? And was it made by Interplay?
