The following image probably sums up my anticipation for Tron Legacy.

Can't say for sure, but . . . even though the artist is in the industry, I don't believe the TRON City concept is official. I think he did it as a fan creation. His LiveJournal entry for it suggests this. He says he "envies" Kosinski, and I don't think he would say that unless he wasn't invited to help work on the film.

Don't get me wrong, the style of TRON Legacy is cool in its own right. But I think Kosinski is leaning too much toward realism. I preferred the more abstract look of TRON and TRON 2.0. Also, what happened to all the circuitry patterns? They're all but gone from the characters and the environment. I miss that.

I agree. That's a very good point.

In fact, it's been way too long since I played TRON 2.0 single player or watched TRON while being at least half awake for me to make a comment like that.

I agree. The Circuitry patterns helped define the movie's unique Special Effects. It made it special and seperate from the usual 80's flick.

When I saw that picture, I thought it was cool. It reminded me of one of the Internet Hubs from TRON 2.0, but I realised that it looks very similar to Blade Runner and The Matrix. Too similar.

In TRON 2.0, I had very little problems with it. Everything stuck to the original designs and made it a real TRON experience. But TRON Legacy does'nt look like it's doing the same...

When I saw the video interview with Kosinski when he said that he's trying to make it more "Realistic", I suddenly found out the biggest threat to the TRON Universe is making it "Realistic."
