I'm guessing it's full CGI bodies (but using motion capture), and then they paste an actor's face on the body. But they treat the face with CGI again to make it look like it's in the computer realm.

Yeah. Like with Clu in the test vid. Looks like the younger Jeff Bridges. If you've seen Terminator: Salvation, they did the same thing with Arnold and he looked they way he did in the late 70's (it was just a few seconds on screen)...
