I'd checked DD's site before, but at that time they weren't admitting to working on TR2N on their site. I was wondering when they were finally going to own up to it.

I find it interesting that Disney has chosen to outsource to DD, rather than do the work internally at Pixar. I guess Pixar has their plate full and can't take on TR2N as well. But I have no doubt that John Lasseter and other key figures at Pixar are overseeing the work that Digital Domain will do for TR2N.

I've stated that the new test reel looks too glassy, and unlike Tron, even updated the amount of material is unbelievable, but my hopes are up. i dont like the new name at all.. "Tron Rez"? maybe thats what they are aiming for? or like the original there is a new program on the scene called TRZ?

suffice to say i thought the TR2N was cool, i liked it. but TRZ, i see very little if any backbone to it that i can understand.

I think Disney is pulling what's known as the door-in-face technique.

When they first announced the title TR2N, a lot of people said they hated it. So, in a calculated move, they've announced a title that's even worse.

The idea being, that this new title is so bad, that we'll all be saying "you know, maybe TR2N wasn't so bad after all!" Watch them make another announcement, saying the title is back to TR2N.

If it stays as TRZ, then I hope Disney continues to be mocked mercilessly for changing to such a stupid name.
