I agree... You'd figure that the overwhelming response to the production trailer would be enough to capitalize on. It would have been a really awesome marketing gig for the movie but after CC they've been stomping down on the leaks...

Disney should release it in it's original form to the public as 'a taste of things to come'....

I'm scratching my head as to why they haven't done this already (even if the move hasn't started pre-production).

I just noticed something about the trailer.

It appears that at the beginning, the blue program appears to be outside of a group of prisoner cells. I have developed yet another possible storyline for the trailer:

This storyline takes place in an alternative timeline, in which the events that were described by/took place in TRON 2.0 didn't happen, and Kevin Flynn resigned as ENCOM senior exec. and went on to become a freelance hacker/programmer.

The ENCOM system has been taken over by a mysterious hacker, who has succeded in doing so by using an elite force of programs called "enforcers". Kevin Flynn has created an updated version of Clu, called "Blu", and he sent it into the system to stop the hacker. Blu was overpowered by a large group of enforcer programs upon entry, though, and so he is overpowered and captured. Flynn notices this, so he quickly goes to ENCOM, where Alan has just succesfully nailed the digitizing technology several days ago. He tries to persuade Alan to allow him to digitze himself into the system. Flynn then breaks into ENCOM. He proceeds to the digitizing bay, and proceeds to get himself digitized. Flynn then attempts to remotely break out Blu, but gets captured by the remaining enforcer. Flynn attemps to use his user powers against the enforcer, but they are oddly innafective against the enforcer. Flynn is transported to a high security prisoner bin within a nearby digtal mountain. Blu, however, has escaped, and this is where the trailer starts. Blu is attempting to escape the prisoner bin sector without being spotted. However, the remaining enforcer sees him and so the lightcycles battle commences (I took notice on how "unnoficial" the lightcycles battle seemed to be. It's as if they are doing an unsceduled battle on the lightcycles grid. Compare it to the old cycles scene and you'll see what I mean.). At the end of the trailer, Blu has crashed and is injured badly. We see the remaining enforcer come up to Blu. Blu tries to convince the enforcer that the whole situation was just a game that was set up by the hacker, but then the enforcer flips open what is actually a visor (assuming that all inforcers have no face, they just wear a helmet with a black visor-like object covering their face. This one actually has a visor), indicating that he is, in fact, the hacker. All Flynn can do is watch helplessly as Blu is torn to shreds by the hacker. The only hope now is for Flynn to somehow escape the maximum security prisonor bin and reach an I/O Tower so that he can contact someone, another user, for help.

Interesting, but the Blue Program's saying "...O.K, you won! It's just a GAME! " wouldn't make sense.

It's a cat and mouse game with a Light Cycle race/chase that turned unexpectedly lethal at the very end (which the Blue Program wasn't expecting it seems...)

Flynn seems to just be meditating, something he senses stirs him to stop meditating and to get up and look out his viewing window (Holo-vid display screen of the Digital World translated into real-time perhaps?)...
He seems to be observing the green-yellow victor of the game draw his weapon as he approaches the Blue Program as he goes to stike a killing blow...

So overall it's seems a simple "dual"/game was turned expectedly deadly by the victorious

4) Showing the Teaser Trailer to the attendees of Comic Con gives/gave the *impression* that it's from the actual movie (and that it's supposedly in production).

I think AICN said something about it supposedly being test footage that Joeseph Koinski (or however you spell his name) spent about six months working on with some CGI company.

Now thousands and many, many more are *expecting* there to be a Tron 2 {TR2N} movie, and have the impression that "TR2N" is in actual production and not just a "concept piece" being toyed around with by Disney.

Right, but all of the new anticipation and love for TRON really is showing. Just look at all of the new members we've gotten here since the trailer was originally shown!

Usually at Comic Con, if something is just a "Concept" /"Test" footage, the audience is told outright before hand that it is, or else many people there would get the impression "this is in production" & "this is a Trailer for this new movie."

Well, you say the guy said "This is just a conceptual trailer for something we think we MAY start working on..." Also, did he actually put emphasis on "may" or was that you?

going "oh look at this cool shyt! Oh but we're just playing around with *maybe* making this movie! So we want ya'all to get all excited now! " and then go "Ahh ha ha ha fooled you, we were just kidding! Were not making a new movie and were not green-lighting in to be made! PWND U ALL! LULZ!" That would be pretty f**ked up if that was their general intention.

Lol, yeah. It definitely would not be a wise financial decision, considering all of this new anticipation. AICN claims that Disney said "You'll all see new footage in 2009, closer to the film's release." Did they actually say that? If not, do you suppose that they said it in some kind of press release? It's very interesting to take this and disect it one piece at a time.

That still makes little sense IMO.

I don't think he would say that or mention "it's just a game", if he was trying to escape for his life from the onset....

It clearly seemed to be a kind of cat & mouse type of Light Cycle chase/race, a game, and was not supposed to be
"to the death/de-rezz."

It was shown after the Disney panel on "Run To Witch Mountain", and I know it was an unanounced and not scheduled, it was sort of related, as studio representatives from Disney were still there...and put the "Trailer" on to show everyone.

I was there and watch every Panel-Presentation in Hall H that day and didn't leave until after the Panel on the "Hulk Vs Wolveriene" animated feature was screen and the panel on it afterwords.

Practically everyone watching the "TR2N" Teaser footage in Hall H pretty much seemed have the impression that it was for an "upcoming movie" (hence the emmense applause and such);
if whatever company co-related to Disney didn't want people thinking "this movie is in production" , they shouldn't of teased everyone with the Trailer if was just a "Concept Trailer"/"Test Footage."
I see no sense why they even bothered to show it then.

Drumming up hype and expectations for a film to be made (if it's just an idea being on a big "maybe" status) is a bit manipulative, deceptive or possibly fecicious I think.

It's like someone showing a starving man a grilled hamburger patty and then walking away...
The starving man thought he was going to be giving something (possibly a juicy Hamburger) to eat, but the man with the grilled hamburger patty just walks off. See what I'm getting at?

The presenter should of specified that it was "test footage" and not an actual trailer for the movie.
