It isn't hard to see a character as cocky as his become drunk with power.
But then again, he may have just matured, and became calmer.....

Perhaps the coincidence that his feelings towards a mega-corporation are more important to him since he has to keep up with hundreds of video games under the circumstances, while he could have a helicopter and people doing what he desires, and he knows that mega-corporations almost always wrong people like him.

It can't be filming, because the story hasn't even been written yet. IMDB Pro is wrong. Like Jim Hill Media, IMDB is known for going with rumors, before they're proven as fact.
And why is Jim Hill Media listed as the production company? That is flat-out wrong. It's Live Planet.
Also notice how that page says Jeff Bridges starring in the sequel is "rumored", when it's already been confirmed that he will be appearing. Both Steven Lisberger and Jeff Bridges' webmaster have stated themselves that he'll be back for the sequel. (Steven Lisberger: "It's great to be working with Jeff [Bridges] again.")
Seems the paid version of IMDB is just about as worthless as the free version, when it comes to reliability of information during production on films.

Well, I mean.. I don't want him to end as a bad guy.... If it turns out to be a redemption story, then that would rock.... but may not really work for the film.
OH... speaking of avatars.. I need to talk to sketch if he might be interested in a video-game art project in the future.. Maybe an RPG (in a classic 16-bit style) about us at the sector in a Tron universe... Been kicking the idea around lately.... but I'd need everyones approval and Auric would have to do a lot of approving for it.
It's just an idea and would be a cool side project to work on... |

Not sure if anybody posted this on here yet, but I did some digging, and apparently the word from Disney to the people at the screening of the teaser at ComiCon was that there wouldn't be any footage available to the public (including the promo) until next year. So I guess that's about as official a word on this we've got.

Thanks, I figured the same thing, I saw the date, Jim Hill, and how little info on the actors there was and put it together..
Plus I would expect the site made a better effort to handle this type of thing.

I noticed that in the last release of info on Tron 2 the movie(jan.), the synopsis stated the MCP was to be rebooted, so DaveTron, give em up. lol

On the one hand, I would have to say that that synopsis on MSN is probably just their way of relating it to TRON, and not a part of the plot.
However, on the other hand I have to wonder how much of the script is completed if shooting is planned to begin next year. I mean, if Mr. Bridges is planning of starting his work on set next year, there has to be some sort of basic story layout done on the script by now, right?

It sounds like standard marketing speech. While I wouldn't be surprised if the MCP did return, I wouldn't put any weight in that particular bit of "news". It reads like a placeholder.

I wish the game idea that I worked on with Producer Sam Palahnuk at BVG was a part of it.
We had an idea where the son of Alan Bradley and Lora Baines was a programmer at ENCOM.
A protection system the MCP had held in reserve was found in the old files. The son was working with a team that was still dissecting the MCP.
This protection system was a part of the MCP meant to copy and rebuild the MCP in a new place if the primary version failed. The problem was that the MCP never started it before it failed.
When the team accidentally releases the protection system, it has no link to the MCP, so it tries to execute it's design without the main piece it requires and it's sort of crazy. It starts taking over everything and computers are shut down all over the world in minutes.
Alan Bradley reveals that the MCP is actually running on a completely isolated system, the old ENCOM server, down in the basement of the building. The laser is also stored down there.
The only way into the system to restore order is to use the MCP and the laser to break in. They enlist the aid of the MCP and they break in.
The game was intended to be a combination of shooter and puzzles. The final puzzle of the main game was a battle on the "NEW MCP" which was an insane spinning wall of blades that involved jumping and blasting guards and wall points with your disc.
Once you won the game, you turned for the heroic vision of the computer panorama where your tanks, recos, troops and lightcycles were all around and glowing in triumph....until....
Starting from the most distant troops you notice they are all turning RED!!
The MCP helped you get into the system, and it followed you in, taking over everything behind you and gaining control of the system for itself. So instead of being at the end of the game, you are really at the middle. Now you are trapped inside and have to find your way back out of the system while rstoring order to the computer world.
The ending I envisioned was that you get out, and you restore order, but the MCP and it's protection program are alive and well and hiding in the dark recesses of the cyberverse. Waiting for the next game!
I wish I'd gotten to make that game.

Damn, that really would have made a great game DaveTRON!
In fact, I think I'm going to start creating a Tron 2.0 mission based on that description, right now!

Just kidding about the mission part. But it's definitely a cool premise, that would have made for a fantastic game.
I have a feeling that any future Tron game would either be an MMO, or something based on the cancelled Tron 3.0 game that was adjusted to work with the sequel.

Sketch did the original still Blue, Red and Green icons. I did the animating much to his chagrin.  I don't think Sketch likes what I did to them, but I am glad you enjoyed it. I haven't used this one for a while.
