Good to be back. I was a member a few years ago but alas, I think that got purged. Anyway, my name is Fred and I actually worked for Disney Interactive a few years back (from 1995 - 1999) but left before we released Tron 2.0. DaveTron is a friend whom I used to work with as well (don't want to divulge too much info for privacy sakes).

Much like all of you, Tron was a phenomenon for me growing up, especially during the Commodore 64 era. They were good times and I actually had programmed a c64 tron game in basic which had some machine language subroutines. I had my own version of light cycles and it was also a text type adventure. I never distributed since it was not done and the disks literally went bad since then.

But the memores burn forever.

It's been a while since I've been here. Feels good to be back lurking and posting.

As with all, I has a practical nerdgasim when I saw the clip. I've read many speculations and theories about it being a trailer, a test clip, if it's a test clip why was Jeff Bridges in it, etc, etc.

So allow me to add my 2 s to the already many theories:

It's already said this will probably be the only time the public got to view this clip, so it could be this IS in fact a test footage to show the execs Tron can still work. Showing Jeff Bridges in the test footage as well could also be their way of saying they have a heavy hitter on board already.

I seem to remember an interview of those who put together the extras in the 20th Anniversary Tron DVD and saying they were worried about how some of the actors' recollection was mostly "Well, I didn't get it but I got a paycheck." type interviews when in came Jeff Bridges with a paper sack in hand, and halfway through the interview he pulled out his helmet prop from the movie! Jeff got it right from the beginning! It only makes sense he'd be on board!

Now, if this is a test footage, I'm disappointed there's no Black Hole sentry robots in it

As for the superimposed faces and a younger Kevin Flynn/CLU, there was a rumor before SW Ep 1 released that they considered getting an actor and superimposing a CG image of a young Sir Alec Guinness. When I heard about the young Jeff Bridges, my first thought was 'They're going to show this can work', which also could hold why it was a test footage - to see how far they can push technology as well.

I'm SUPER stoked about the potential of TR2N and I'll admit it...2010 (or 2011, depending what you read) seems mighty far away right now.

possible Flynn plot twists IMHO.

1.) Flynn rezzed just back from defeating the MCP, the end of the original movie.

Flynn finds clues that something rezzed in with him. The constant popping around him made him wonder.. all he could see is ants. was he hallucinating? Dazed at first his first instinct was to pick one up. He sees that these are no ordinary ants, as one burns right into his fingers. he runs to contain them, but it's too late. nobody can stop them. They contain the MCP's basecode, and he's hardwired himself into the EN511 mainframe.
The lab is destroyed to contain the MCP.

The government still has doubts of the full quarantine of the bots which had been in the lab. And they were right, flynn transports them unknowingly. They ask flynn if he's busy, they want to rebuild EN511, and get the cyberterrorist once and for all.


2.) When Flynn rezzed into the lab, he was told not to tell anyone. His business was fine, untill his discovery of a lab who's closely related with encom in Germany, which had massive amounts of material rezzing through a laser inside.
A mysterious phone call to an address that needs the expertise of his abilities, this person is careful to give exact details, but say's the Autonomous Space Quantifier has made a robotic looking man materialize. This person is a relative of Dillinger, who knew a secret, and the discovery is amazing. But that the cyber man simply disappeared from thin air.

3.) When Flynn rezzed into the lab, his discoveries were kept private, he knows noone knows where he went. He denies the night in the lab until their work was found to communicate to every part of the world, which was picked up by the government.
They contact him, and threaten him by hacking into EN511 and doing what he dreaded, finding that he was always online but he could be standing right before them, this is just the beginning of the threat. After taking control of the lab they find an army waiting on the other side. Flynn is arrested and the entire lab is closed for complete analysis. EN511 comes through by grabbing agents and they start to familiarize with the actual events taking place. They are allowed to call for Flynn's release and he's taken inside the computer once again, but this time the world is in trouble, he tries to recruit the agents, suceeds and creates a silent operation inside the government. He takes a role as counter intelligence expert, there's one problem, by allowing the agents inside, he lets them know too much, and they find more agents who can write their legacy into EN511. The only one who can help Flynn is the old crew, and he resorts to taking out powerful programs, risking everything.

So there's Flynn stuff..

Wacky looking programs
New levels of transportation throughout.
Emergence of child processes of the MCP running amuck. Living remote access cards distributed to specific labs, Dillinger's Sark is bringing his labs to him.
High level of sophistication in visual desctiption, and combination of gaming in a specific scientific approach, with serious missions.

I guess that's all.. but it's not.
